System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Early morning, 5:57 AM.

Dawn has broken in the east, a purple-red ray of morning sunlight shoots down in the corner of the changing room, brilliant in color but unappreciated.

Zhang Tiesheng handed over a pack of Hecheng Tianxia: ”Xiao Lu, want one to perk up?”

Lu Cheng isn’t used to this, but he is incredibly tired now, and his shift isn’t over yet.

Lu Cheng just took one and tossed it into his mouth, crunching it down. The strange thing inside the betel nut almost made Lu Cheng’s tongue feel ”stimulated” to the point of breaking.

Lu Cheng’s face instantly turned red, and the sleepiness faded away by at least thirty percent.

”How is it? It really wakes you up, right? The less you know how to chew, the more invigorating it is.” Zhang Tiesheng laughed.

Lu Cheng nodded in reply, baring his teeth as he began to chew: ”Felt like my throat locked up just now, I almost got sent away.”

Zeng Huanqi finished dressing at this time, showing his signature big white teeth: ”Xiao Lu, are we going out for breakfast later or ordering in?”

”Professor Chen hasn’t finished yet?” Zeng Huanqi asked Du Daihua beside him after speaking.

Du Daihua replied, ”Professor Chen and Professor Tong have gone out early, they’re probably having a small joy now.”

Zhang Tiesheng thought for a moment and said, ”Brother Zeng, can you arrange breakfast for Professor Chen and Teacher Lu later, I still have to miserably stay on duty.”

”Thanks, Brother Zhang.” Zeng Huanqi was very polite to Zhang Tiesheng too.

”It’s time for the duty shift, what can I do. I’m going to catch up on sleep.” Zhang Tiesheng was very tired but didn’t fuss, instead directly went out to catch up on sleep.

A whole night is genuinely a whole night.

As Lu Cheng went out the door, he said, ”Brother Zeng, you and Daihua head out first, I’ll write up the handover sheet in the department and fix my own breakfast after the shift.”

Zeng Huanqi suggested, ”Zhang Tiesheng is just asleep in the department, give him a heads up. There’s no need for such rigid rules.”

This wasn’t Zeng Huanqi deliberately trying to put Lu Cheng on the early shift, it’s genuinely what he thought—Zhang Tiesheng would definitely not refuse, and now with Lu Cheng able to perform limb replantation, Zhang Tiesheng had nowhere to refuse.

”Everyone’s quite exhausted, let’s allow Brother Zhang to rest properly, just in case there’s an emergency.”

Lu Cheng checked his Skill Point balance, returning to 6 points, which meant for one night, Lu Cheng had earned 14 Skill Points!

The gains were still very rich and invigorating.

Lu Cheng could empathize, so Zeng Huanqi urged no further: ”Daihua, let’s go have breakfast...”

Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an both had a flavor of ’small joy,’ especially Tong Yuan’an who mingled with drinking and smoking in the emergency department.

When Lu Cheng arrived, Chen Song tossed Lu Cheng a cup of blue Yaha iced coffee: ”Han Xiaoping ordered takeout, he’s quite considerate.”

The bottle was cold, dew dripping, instantly wetting Lu Cheng’s palm.

Upon seeing Lu Cheng, Tong Yuan’an joked with a laugh: ”Xiao Lu, seems like you had a fruitful time at the advanced training class, huh?”

Nine people injured, seventeen wound sites, Lu Cheng alone treated at least six tendon damage sites yesterday, with a dozen tendon ruptures, plus half a limb replantation.

Lu Cheng’s brain had boiled down to at least one-tenth slurry, so he had not much patience for formalities with Tong Yuan’an:

”Teacher Tong, the harvest is indeed good; I gained an understanding of nerve suturing’s framework and casually brought back a tendon suturing technique.”

After speaking, Lu Cheng looked at Chen Song: ”Teacher Chen, I’ve gone twenty-six hours without sleep, I plan to go back later and rest.”

Tong Yuan’an listened, froze for a moment, contemplating if Lu Cheng’s words were a sly dig at him for being out of touch with reality.

After pondering, Tong Yuan’an extended his chubby hand and clamped Lu Cheng’s wrist!

The chubby face serious, eyes like a torch.

Eyes: ???

Chen Song, well familiar with the emergency department, unceremoniously lit one up and began puffing in the doctor’s lounge.

Anyway, once the door is closed, even if someone pushes it open, there’s time to extinguish. The emergency department isn’t the operating room, so no strict sterile principles are needed.

Chen Song didn’t care whether Lu Cheng went back to sleep, but seeing Tong Yuan’an’s distorted face, he laughed voluntarily: ”Xiao Lu, you should probably explain things clearly, lest he suffocates himself.”

Lu Cheng wasn’t in a confused state of mind, just had a slight pause when thinking over problems.

After all, human stamina is finite; adding points cannot revive it, so Lu Cheng said: ”Teacher Tong, this time during the study trip, teachers there specifically instructed the essence of the suturing skill.”

”Moreover, they clearly explained the methods of improving nerve suturing techniques to nerve suturing techniques, so during the lecture, I gained sporadic insights.”

”Based on the technique you developed and Professor Tajima’s Tsuge Suturing Technique, I made slight improvements, seems the result is alright.”

Tong Yuan’an listened, his expression remained stiff.

But his serious chubby face briefly relaxed: ”You mean, not even Union Hospital improved the technique, you improved it yourself?”

Like Professor Zhong Junyun at Union Hospital, Tong Yuan’an instinctively assumed Union Hospital had also made improvements to the tendon suturing technique.

As you know, Huazhong Union Hospital’s reputation is much higher than Xiangya Hospital’s, and experts at Union Hospital are extremely abundant.

Especially Huazhong Union Hospital’s hand surgery department, there’s none greater in Huazhong, such a foundation supports Union Hospital devising a new suturing technique.

Lu Cheng replied: ”It’s not the teachers at Union Hospital, the teachers there primarily research nerve suturing-related topics, and they haven’t delved deeply into tendon suturing.”

”Teacher Tong, I returned late yesterday, this kind of thing isn’t explained over a phone call, so I didn’t bring it up with you. Otherwise, if I told you about this and couldn’t come back, you’d surely feel worse.”

”Of course, I initially planned to elaborate with you today, yet last night a bunch of youngsters got into a fight, I had no choice...”

”I have some videos here...”

Lu Cheng then very clearly played a video for Tong Yuan’an displaying his tendon suturing technique at Union Hospital and presented relevant data compiled there.

Tong Yuan’an was a major participant in the development of the ’tong method,’ so at first glance, he recognized traces of the tong method in Lu Cheng’s technique.

It had elements of the tong method but differed quite a bit, naturally being original by Lu Cheng based on ’tong method.’

Upon knowing this, Tong Yuan’an’s mindset relaxed, although his tone was still complicated: ”What the hell. This damn thing, you damn...”

The first part of the sentence is loaded with expletives, after hesitating for a while, Tong Yuan’an finally sighed:

”At least our efforts weren’t completely in vain, even fuel is something...”

”Xiao Lu, if you can endure some more, come with me once, this time...”
