Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Yang Yu finished saying everything he needed to, and the All Things Library meeting room became increasingly noisy.

The elderly Council President coughed heavily, restoring quiet to the boisterous meeting room.

”Mr. Yang Yu, can you guarantee that what you just said is not a jest in the least?”

”This is everything I truly understand.

Among it, some are my speculations.

But my speculations are not groundless; they come from careful consideration.

If you’re unsure which parts are my speculations or inferences, I can go over it again.

I’ll emphasize the speculative and inferential parts.”

While speaking, Yang Yu took some drafts from the system and handed them to the Council President,

”To avoid missing any important information, until now, I’ve maintained a habit of noting down key information.

If you have handwriting experts here, they can thoroughly authenticate my notes, checking the times these words were recorded.

This can indirectly verify what I’m saying now.”

Taking the drafts, the Council President skimmed through them, then projected Yang Yu’s notes into mid-air for every elder present to see.

Next to each page of Yang Yu’s notes were annotations listing the possibility of intelligence emergence.

Scanning the Elder Council members, the Council President said:

”I will find time to ascertain the timing of note writing, and I’ll temporarily take possession of these drafts.

Another thing...

I want to know the exact personnel you require this time, and the fields they should be adept at, for rough risk assessment.

This can help us make more cautious choices.”

”I understand your concerns, Council President.

However, I cannot compromise on confidentiality.

How about this, Council President? You know the members of the Elder Council well.

Could you initiate telepathy with me, so I can individually inform you of my needs?

With the names of the people I require, you should be able to evaluate the risks of our action.

It’s okay to assess for the worst-case scenario,” Yang Yu said.

”Understood. Just tell me personally.”

With that, the Council President initiated telepathy with Yang Yu, who unreservedly informed the Council President of the types of magicians needed.

After confirming Yang Yu’s needs, he and his companions were temporarily asked to leave the meeting room.

With no outsiders present, the All Things Library elders could speak freely, conducting discussions without concern.

Waiting outside, Yang Yu didn’t feel that his previous words would completely sway every elder of the All Things Library; he was fully prepared for failure, even contemplating solutions for after a failure.

After more than half an hour of heated discussion, the vast majority of All Things Library elders had a clear idea about whether to support Yang Yu, leading to the final stage of raising hands for voting.

By a narrow margin of over two-thirds majority, the Elder Council passed the motion to support Yang Yu.

Following the vote, the Council President immediately called Yang Yu and his group back into the meeting room, informing them that the All Things Library was willing to assist them.

Yang Yu secretly breathed a sigh of relief, catching sight of several elders leaving unhappily.

The Council President spoke again, drawing Yang Yu’s attention back:

”Although we agree to assist you, our All Things Library will not exhaust all resources for safety.

Please understand this.

Also, the list of personnel able to assist you has been finalized.

When we encountered strong disagreements, it was Elder Li Yan who proposed the voluntary sign-up to assist you and first expressed his willingness to personally help you, allowing the rest of the meeting to proceed smoothly.

Many elders know the original intent of establishing the All Things Library, and they want to maintain that intent, but...

The various benefits brought by commercialization are sufficient to warp their minds.

In their view, what you’re doing now is unappreciated effort.

They are the kind of people who prefer living in the present, considering future issues later.

Those willing to assist you have stayed, talk to them, and select the people you want.”

Yang Yu nodded, his gaze turning to the remaining elders of the All Things Library.

Surprisingly, Baronaco was among them.

He opened the system, greeting those who stayed while checking everyone’s panel.

The majority of All Things Library elders possess extraordinary abilities with achievements in magic, but situated across the continent, they can only be considered as middle-upper tier combat strength.

Considering potential situations later, picking helpers with high speed and intelligence is quite important.

Since he intended to seek assistance from the All Things Library, Yang Yu wasn’t going to be modest:

”Elder Li Yan, how is your health? If it’s decent, could you lend a helping hand to this junior?”

The elderly man in the book ran a thin hand over his beard, smiling:

”The last time I entered Fairyland, I was prepared for sacrifice.

I have lived a long life.

Having experienced many things in my life, I have almost no regrets.

I don’t want to regret this time.

If you need my help, I’m willing to stake my life on the future you described.”

Yang Yu expressed sincere gratitude to Li Yan before moving towards Baronaco:

”I’m quite surprised that you chose to stay.

Elder Baronaco, I thought, judging by your character, you were just here for the excitement.

After the meeting, you would follow suit and leave.”

Baronaco said playfully: ”How can you determine I’m not just here for the excitement now?

Truthfully, I’m tired of the current system of All Things Library.

If moving towards the future you described, perhaps my future could also become more interesting.

At least…

If, as you said, knowledge could be thoroughly disseminated.

Surely, many interesting people like you would sprout like bamboo shoots after the rain.”

”Even if you’re just here for the excitement, I hope you’ll comply with my arrangements.

I’ve considered the risk of plan failure. If it fails, I hope you, as one of the representatives of All Things Library, will lead its people in retreat.

You also needn’t worry much about our safety.

Do you know how many times we’ve escaped until now? Isn’t there a saying: ’As long as the green mountain remains, there is no fear of running out of firewood’?”

Baronaco chuckled without response.

Yang Yu then approached others he had his eye on, communicating with them one by one.

Among those who stayed, some were merely going along with the flow, not wanting to engage in battles.

Their support itself was the biggest help to Yang Yu, who didn’t press them further, only inviting those who truly agreed with him to participate in the plan.

Once selecting the personnel, Yang Yu shook hands with them individually, displaying friendliness.
