Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The familiar feeling struck again as Chenshui glanced at the others not far from Yang Yu.

”If I may ask, have we met somewhere before, tester?”

Yang Yu also felt the young girl in front of him looked familiar.

During the attack on Qinghe Volcano, he hadn’t encountered many Blazing Fire Clan members, and he quickly recalled that the young girl in front of him was the one who identified the entrance for him during the assault on Qinghe Volcano.

Seeing the slightly excited expression on the girl’s face, Yang Yu knew that Chenshui likely had realized his true identity.

Initially, he thought that anyone with strong flame manipulation abilities in the Blazing Fire Clan would suffice, but now that he was recognized...

More than the awkwardness, Yang Yu was concerned about a potential information leak.

”It’s not uncommon to meet lookalikes.

In the place where I conduct my research, people often say my silhouette resembles that of the famous General Potato.

It’s understandable if you got it wrong.

Time is pressing.

I won’t babble on here; today’s test must remain strictly confidential.

If you dare to leak information privately, you’ll bear the consequences.

General Potato couldn’t possibly be here; he’s too busy, likely still fighting on the front lines.

We want to help him as soon as possible, hence this test.”

Chenshui’s eyes lit up, ”Can this experiment help him?

Then, whatever you need, just let me know!”

Though reluctant, the legend of the Colorful-haired Masked Man seemed to have spread widely across the country.

Even the Blazing Fire Clan, who had always lived on Qinghe Volcano, revered his name.

Yang Yu found it hard to say whether this was good or bad.

Hero?

Everyone gets what they need!

If you talk about heroes, the warriors who fight on the front lines fearlessly for their country and family deserve that title more than he does.

Holding his chin, Yang Yu spoke:

”There’s quite a bit of experimenting to do.

Firstly, I want to ask you, now that your magic power has increased, how has your body changed?

Can you maintain the flame state for a long time?”

”I heard this sudden increase in magic power came from the Demon King.

Although I don’t want to admit it, this sudden surge in magic power has indeed brought us considerable benefits.”

Clenching her fists, Chenshui’s fiery twin ponytails fluttered, igniting with flames at the tips.

In an instant, flames engulfed Chenshui, and she was burning fiercely, looking exactly like Ammonval.

”Away from Qinghe Volcano, we could only maintain this form for a short time.

But now, even without breaks, we can sustain it for days.”

”Then there’s no problem,” Yang Yu was quite satisfied, pointing in a certain direction for Chenshui, ”Just maintain this form, continuously using Flame Magic to try and resist the magician tester’s magic. If the flames fail, try to re-initiate the Flame Magic. Understand?”

”Understood.”

Qiuye walked enthusiastically toward the location Yang Yu pointed to, showing no sign of being a mere test subject.

At Yang Yu’s command, the assisting magician chanted a spell, unfolding a barrier that enveloped Bai Jin and the others.

This barrier could reflect light like a mirror from the outside, preventing anyone from using remote Surveillance Magic to observe Yang Yu and the others’ actions.

Once everything was in place, Bai Jin flew up into the sky, concealing his powers, beginning the experiment as planned.

To ensure the accuracy of the experiment, Yang Yu controlled each variable of the experiment like he did during his university days.

Factors like location and Flame Magic intensity were all considered by Yang Yu.

The experimental process was quite complex. After a day of hustle, the enthusiastic Chenshui collapsed next to the carriage, her fiery twin ponytails drooping weakly on her shoulders, confirming there were no issues with Yang Yu and the others before drowsily falling asleep.

Thanks to Chenshui’s high spirits, Yang Yu and the others completed all the experiments in one day.

Let’s get straight to the conclusions.

As Yang Yu predicted, for Flame Magic to fail on the Selovomen Plain, the key wasn’t the season but the weather.

It’s not like as soon as it snows, Flame Magic immediately fails.

After it starts snowing, it takes about five or six minutes for the Flame Magic to gradually fail in the wind and snow.

After the snow melts and there’s no more frost formation, after another five or six minutes, Flame Magic can be used again.

The range in which the Flame Magic fails expands gradually outward from the center point of the snowfall.

The speed of this expansion relates to the size of the snowfall.

Every location that Yang Yu and the others tested had the same situation: as long as it snowed, Flame Magic would fail.

It’s expected that the entire Selovomen Plain would experience the same.

...To be safe, Yang Yu decided to arrange everything first and then let Iyas choose the battlefield location, to avoid accidentally picking a one-in-a-million location where Magic Flames could still blaze fiercely despite the snow, thwarting his plans.

With the experimental results in hand, Yang Yu began contemplating the battle plan.

Bringing Ammonval to the Selovomen Plain wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t overly complicated either. Yang Yu first considered how to achieve the perfect snowfall.

While Bai Jin could create a large number of snow clouds to cause snowfall, the range wasn’t extensive.

This time, real Weather Magic was required; Bai Jin couldn’t, as he did a year or two ago, save time by transporting moisture.

To unfold larger snow clouds, there were only two options: increase the size of the magic technique or increase manpower.

Yang Yu only had a rudimentary understanding of magic. Bai Jin told Yang Yu that once the area of the magic technique expanded to a certain size, the effect of expansion would gradually weaken.

This is because the magic technique at the edges is far from the caster, and with each expansion, the magician needs to focus to maintain the edges of the spell, preventing the magic power within from dissipating.

Moreover, the larger the technique, the longer the release time, and the greater the magic fluctuations.

The risk of exposure also increases.

Yang Yu thought about how nice it would be to have the ability to freely control the weather.

Whenever he wished, he could summon wind and rain, wield thunder and lightning, and bringing on a flurry of snow would just be a matter of minutes.

But, it was just wishful thinking.

Yang Yu didn’t know where to find such a ”Son of the Weather.” Such an outrageous ability likely wouldn’t be written into anyone’s genes.

Clearly, more manpower was needed!

The problem was, where to find manpower?

High-level magicians generally have tasks, guarding various cities. Even if they could spare some time away, they probably wouldn’t be very familiar with Weather Magic, making it hard for an immediate collaboration with Bai Jin to form.

Bai Jin offered a solution to Yang Yu’s problem:

”I can’t manage it alone.

The risk is too high.

I estimate that before the snow even falls, Ammonval will notice the anomaly and flee at all costs.

We need people skilled in Weather Magic.

If anywhere, where one might find proficient Weather Magic users...

The only place I can think of is All Things Library.

Tico once mentioned that to prevent the library’s books from getting damp.

Besides isolating the library from the outside with barriers, All Things Library actively manipulates the weather.

It only rains there on specific days; otherwise, it’s always sunny.

Perhaps we can seek their assistance.”
