Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 199: Chapter 199 My Mom Wants to Meet You

Time slowly passed, and another three days had gone by.

Every day, he shuffled between the library, the cafeteria, and the dormitory—a repetitive, monotonous, and dull life that Yang Yu found increasingly tasteless.

After such a long time, neither Ying Luo, Fuer, nor anyone else had come to visit.

Yang Yu found it strange, considering he had shown his face at Chilom’s restaurant every day, checking in—surely people close to Fuer should have noticed his movements... But why was there still no action to establish contact?

As for Ying Luo, even though he had prepared himself mentally, when he was actually ignored, it was still somewhat hard to accept.

Humans are such sentimental creatures.

The only good thing these past few days was that the latest issue of the Library Newspaper had been distributed.

As expected, Yang Yu had become a celebrity in the library.

Whenever he walked down the street, people around him would look his way, casting curious glances at him.

Although he hadn’t checked what exactly the newspaper had written, Yang Yu knew that the news of how he had managed to incapacitate the Hani King’s aid examiners from managing their own lives must have spread far and wide.

The first shot at increasing his fame had been fired, and Yang Yu felt he was getting closer to his goal.

He even vaguely felt that he had caught the attention of a big shot.

The two of them could sit down, have a heart-to-heart talk, and make a PY trade—it seemed only a matter of time.

He opened the curtains to greet the first ray of sunshine in the morning and quickly got ready—the dreary life resumed.

Opening his door, Bai Jin, who usually left early, was standing at Yang Yu’s doorway today, greeting him, ”Good morning.”

Just as Yang Yu was about to respond to Bai Jin, he saw Lady Tico standing behind her,

”Good morning, isn’t this Lady Tico? What brings you here?”

Just accompanying Bai Jin to class couldn’t be the only reason for her to come all this way...

Could she be here to see me?

It wasn’t out of the realm of possibility.

Seeing Lady Tico clutching her Mage hat, hesitating, Yang Yu’s intuition told him that things were not as simple as they seemed.

Suddenly alert, Bai Jin flashed a weird smile,

”What exactly went on between you two? It can’t be that you did something shady behind my back, can it? Mouthing off about not being interested in her, and now all this—it’s all lies, such a blabbermouth. Lady Tico, you need to be careful, don’t let this man deceive you.”

”Don’t worry! I would never do anything inappropriate with my idol.” Yang Yu patted Bai Jin’s head, forcing a smile, ”Lady Tico, what brings you here?”

”Well... this... that...” Lady Tico hesitated for a moment, then let go of her hat brim, lifted her head with an apologetic look in her eyes, ”...Yang Yu, my mother wants to meet you.”

”Huh?”

Bai Jin and Yang Yu were stunned simultaneously.

Lady Tico’s mother is looking for me?

Could it be that she found out I’ve been pretending to be a fan of Lady Tico?

Impossible, absolutely impossible! Up until now, I’ve not given away any clues, and I don’t even know Lady Tico’s mother; it can’t be revealed so neatly.

Although being directly labeled as a fan is suspicious, before meeting her, it is unwise to speculate.

Wait, does Lady Tico’s mother want to meet me just to expose me?

A terrifying thought.

Trying to calm himself, Yang Yu coolly asked, ”Lady Tico, do you know why your mother wants to see me?”

Lady Tico shook her head, ”She didn’t say, just sent me to pass a message—if you’re free today, you must visit my home.”

No!

I’m really busy today. I still have loads of silly books to finish.

Yang Yu was about to decline, but then he thought, what if it was Lady Tico’s mother who was the big shot now eyeing him,

”Lady Tico, have you ever mentioned to your mother that I’m your fan?”

”Actually, until yesterday, I had never brought you up to my mother. I mean, if she found out I had fans, I don’t know what she’d think, so I have always kept you a secret. But...”

Lady Tico pouted unhappily,

”But somehow my mother found out you’re my fan. Last night, as soon as I got home, she kept questioning me, pressuring me to reveal my relationship with you, and I ended up having to share our relationship with her. Now, she wants me to introduce you...”

Hearing Lady Tico say that, Yang Yu slowly let out a breath, but he didn’t entirely relax; the possibility of being seen through by Lady Tico’s mother still existed.

”So that’s the story. By the way, Lady Tico, I haven’t asked about your mother’s profession yet; does she have an important position in the library? Is she interested in some unusual books? It would help me to prepare a gift.”

”My mother is one of the youngest members of the Elder Council. You don’t need to bring any gifts, just go as you are. As for her interest in some unusual books, I can’t say she doesn’t have any.”

Reaching out her hand, a map marked with annotations appeared in Lady Tico’s palm,

”Anyway, here’s my home address. If you have time today, please come visit; my mother is very gentle and shouldn’t give you too hard a time.”

Keeping the map safely, Yang Yu then asked, ”One last question, Lady Tico. Does your mother subscribe to the Library Newspaper?”

Lady Tico nodded affirmatively, ”She has been subscribing since the first issue, pretty much an old reader... Why do you suddenly ask?”

”Oh, just asking. I’m still debating whether to subscribe too.” To prevent Lady Tico from probing further, Yang Yu casually changed the subject.

”I actually think you don’t need to.

I’ve glanced through the newspaper my mother subscribes to. If anything major really happens at the library, you’d know even without looking at the newspaper. Besides universally known big news, the Library Newspaper is pretty much all about trivial matters.

I also don’t understand why my mother likes the newspaper...”

That’s definitely because your mom has a gossip-loving heart.

Yang Yu cracked a smile.

The long-awaited opportunity had finally arrived.

Probably, Lady Tico’s mother wanted to meet him because she saw Yang Yu’s heroic figure in the newspaper and the interview with Keke Ai, sparking a strong interest in what he had.

Yang Yu had decided that today he would impress Lady Tico’s mother and secure the status of an Advanced Member of the Library.

After chatting a bit more with Bai Jin and Lady Tico, Yang Yu saw them out and returned to his room to start preparing for the meeting.
