Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 158: Chapter 158: There Are Profound Reasons, Especially Deep Ones

He opened the potion and drank it down; Iyas once again felt her body brimming with strength, a strength that human potions, far superior to the juice herbs ground by her race, could not compare to.

Staring at the empty glass bottle, Iyas fell into deep thought.

Living in the forest, our race should be the ones who best understand Herbal Medicine. So why can humans create potions that are not only more effective than ours but also taste good, without any bitterness? How did they manage to do this?

Seeing Iyas, nearly fully recovered, standing there lost in thought, Yang Yu urged, ”What are you thinking about? Hurry and catch up.”

”Seriously, you humans are incredible, how can you create so many interesting and useful things, Ba Fei... these potions too... despite having such short lifespans... how do you come up with so many ideas?” Finally, Iyas couldn’t help but voice her thoughts.

”Explaining this would be too lengthy,” Yang Yu said with a smile, ”Wait until you get through the Library’s Martial Arts Exam, and see a real Library, then you might understand. Until then, I hope you can discard all your preconceived notions about the Library.”

Yang Yu paused then continued:

”Or rather, it would be best if you could discard all the stereotypes about races from your memory.

It is very foolish to have never seen the world yet impose your notions on others.

My hair is quite short, but my experience far exceeds yours, constantly contemplating all sorts of possibilities.

That’s what allowed me to bring you here when we were at our wits’ end and smoothly find a solution.

So, can we please move a bit faster? If we can conquer this Underground Maze today, we can return to the All Things Library within a week.”

Grasping the glass bottle tightly, Iyas tucked it into her clothing, ”Don’t rush me. Once I truly pass the All Things Library exam, I want to see what differences there are between your All Things Library and our library.”

Following the staircase adorned with Hani sculptures, they descended to the second floor.

As if by formula, Yang Yu successfully conquered the second level, tearing all the lingering Hani into fragments.

Since they would regenerate from pieces after a while, Yang Yu felt no psychological burden.

On the third floor, where the average Level of the Hani had reached Level 30, Yang Yu repeated his strategy, capturing their attention and ensnaring them all. Only, the numbers were notably lower this time.

The Hani drawn from the first floor had decreased from around twenty to five or six.

Fortunately, the number of powerful Hani, like a pyramid, decreased with the quality increase at each level.

There were a total of over a hundred Hani on the first floor, eighty on the second floor, and less than fifty on the third, still manageable with some effort.

The problem was the fourth floor, where roughly thirty Hani roamed, all above Level 40, with average attributes over two hundred, posing some difficulty.

Surrounded by more than three Hani, there was almost no chance of winning. Conquering this and the fifth floor in terms of time could only be measured in days.

”It seems the Hani King really wants us to have a good time with them; this Task isn’t as easy as we imagined.”

After shattering a blue Hani the size of an adult human, Yang Yu put down his sword.

The Hani’s Attack had only two types, one was using the Sharp Spear in their hands to execute the Salted Fish Stab, which was very easy to dodge; the other was a golden ring-shaped light wave emitted from their faces, the range varying according to the size of the Hani. Yang Yu took a little time to understand the range of this Skill with different sizes of Hani.

Putting down her bow, Iyas stepped on the scattered Hani fragments, ”What else can we do then? Didn’t you say you were always considering various methods? I don’t believe you would just thoroughly clear all the Hani in this area straightforwardly.”

”That was the worst option.”

Since the game had high freedom, there naturally existed some opportunistic methods to clear the Underground Maze. Otherwise, Yang Yu wouldn’t have received the task of ”Unrulely Strategist.”

In this situation, Yang Yu naturally wanted to find if there was a weapon that was particularly effective against Hani, or a secret passage that could directly skip this level.

”We could try other methods, I don’t really care. If we fail, we can just come back and methodically clear out the Hani one by one.”

”What kind of methods? Hopefully nothing too bizarre.”

”Firstly, let’s look among these Hani to see if there is any special Hani, or if there is any special place within the Underground Maze. Follow my pace and don’t get spotted by the wandering Hani, otherwise, we’ll have to fight.”

After instructing Iyas a few times, Yang Yu sprang into action. If some important NPCs appeared, he would be able to notice immediately through the system panel. The rest was to figure out how to get the desired information out of the special Hani.

However, these were minor issues.

After throwing a pebble toward the corner, while the wandering Hani were distracted by the sound of the stone, Yang Yu swiftly moved to another passage, and opened the panel to continue searching for named Hani.

After some gymnastics, no named Hani were found, but Yang Yu stumbled upon a golden Treasure Box in a corner.

”True to its Hani nature, quite authentic in its setup.”

Approaching the Treasure Box with a smiling face, Yang Yu’s reaching hand paused as if he remembered something. His smile froze as he glanced at Iyas, who quietly awaited him to open the Treasure Box.

”Cough cough, Iyas, from now on, the important task of opening treasure chests will be yours. Also, remember to remind me not to open them randomly.”

Iyas, puzzled, tilted her head, ”Last time because you cared about Bai Jin, you didn’t open it. This time, there’s nothing wrong, so why am I opening it? You look so excited but then you stopped voluntarily, I think there must be a trick.”

What trick? I just have bad luck and wanted someone else to draw for me, is that not allowed?

Of course, Yang Yu couldn’t say this out loud. That was one of his few weaknesses, and he couldn’t let Iyas know about it carelessly.

Therefore, Yang Yu had to make the atmosphere suddenly turn sad in a very stern manner, ”Iyas, do you remember me saying that I got many things from an underground city... right?”

”Why bring this up suddenly? Could it be that not opening treasure chests is also related to that underground city?”

With a faint sadness in his eyes, Yang Yu sighed deeply, ”Exactly because of that, since I acquired a vast amount of treasure from that underground city, I was cursed by it. If I open a Treasure Box, it will explode instantly.”

”Instant, instant explosion? You’re joking, right?” Iyas couldn’t believe it.

Yang Yu just pointed at his sad face and said, ”Do I look like I’m joking?”

”I get it, I get it, I’ll open it! Don’t make that face; it makes it seem like it’s all my fault.”

Iyas quickly walked forward and slowly opened the large Treasure Box.

Just at that moment, a pink Hani suddenly flipped open the lid of the Treasure Box,

”Ha ha! Surprised? There’s no treasure here at all! Only me, the Treasure Chest Monster!”
