Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Don’t Panic, Leave Everything to Me

Bai Jin and Iyas again stared in disbelief, their eyeballs nearly popping out of their sockets.

Such an obvious lie, yet these Hani just blindly believed it, without even a hint of suspicion.

Which eye did these Hani use to determine we looked like... Hani?

Besides, shouldn’t Hani as a species be immune to magic? The very idea of using magic to disguise as humans is fundamentally flawed, so why didn’t any of these Hani question it and just fully believe Yang Yu’s nonsense?

And Yang Yu, spinning such an unbelievable tale, wasn’t he afraid of being exposed?

What on earth was he thinking?

Perhaps sensing the expressions on the faces of Bai Jin and Iyas, Yang Yu cleared his throat and spread his hands, ”This is just the nature of Hani. As long as your lies aren’t too outrageous, they can’t detect them.”

Bai Jin and Iyas were speechless once more. If even that lie wasn’t considered outrageous, then what would be?

”In any case, Hani are simple-minded creatures, naturally not much better than a three-year-old child when it comes to intelligence. Dealing with them is like placating a three-year-old, and an exceptionally gullible one at that.

Relax a little.

There are occasionally some mutants among them who can reach the intelligence of a six or seven-year-old, maybe even ten if pushed. But a Hani with an adult’s intelligence is a once-in-a-century genius among their kind.

If you’re worried about causing any problems, just stick close to me. I have a way to distinguish the smart Hani from the rest.”

The only way to tell the difference between an ordinary Hani and a smart one was simple, looking at their names.

A Hani with higher intelligence would naturally give themselves a grandiose name, to live up to its intelligence.

Looking around, the names Yang Yu could see were basically all Hani or Hani, with Hani being the male, and Hani adorned with little flowers on their heads, being the female.

Among these uniform names, there would occasionally be some that stood out.

Take, for example, the red Hani approaching them, clad in a black leather jacket, his missile-shaped body draped with heavy gold chains, his short round arms wearing spiked bracelets, and sporting a flowing mane of golden hair.

Its unique name, differing from the other Hani, was Brother Feifan.

Brother Feifan clearly looked like trouble, his hollow and dark eye holes contorting into a semicircle, looking furious.

”I heard everything you just said! Don’t think that all Hani are easy to deceive! Spill the beans now!”

”I knew it, not all Hani could be so easily fooled.” For some reason, Iyas breathed a sigh of relief, at least some Hani could easily see through the holes in Yang Yu’s story, ”So, what are you planning to do now?”

”Don’t panic,” Yang Yu raised his hand, signaling Iyas to stop talking, ”Leave everything to me.”

Saying this, Yang Yu moved forward to confront Brother Feifan directly.

”I’m sorry, big brother, I don’t understand what you mean.”

Brother Feifan became even angrier at the response, ”Don’t try to play dumb with me! We Hani are immune to magic! It’s impossible for us to use magic to disguise ourselves as humans.”

”Listen to me...”

Yang Yu narrowed his eyes, gearing up for a proper explanation, but Brother Feifan cut him off.

”Don’t try to deceive me! Tell me the truth! How did you make yourselves immune to magic?

Recently, I’ve taken a liking to a kind of magic paint, but I’ve never been able to apply it because of my magic immunity.

If you can use magic to transform into humans, naturally you can help me solve my problem.

Can you or can you not, Hani?

I’m begging you here, Hani, Hani.”

But that was it—none of them were capable. Watching Brother Feifan pleading with him, the strained expression on Yang Yu’s face was instantly replaced by a smile,

”What’s in it for me if I teach you this method? Hani, Hani.”

Brother Feifan earnestly said, ”I won’t have you tell me the method for nothing. I can give you this necklace I’m wearing, although it’s made from stones picked up at random from the roadside, it’s still good-looking and durable, it won’t break easily, and I really like it. If you can tell me the method, I’ll give you this necklace.”

What good fortune, picking up gold everywhere.

Gold and gemstones really aren’t any different from roadside pebbles to the Hani race. Yang Yu found nothing strange and silently calculated his next move—after this was done, he’d scour the market like crazy, looking for any ”good-looking” stones to pack up and take with him.

”Seeing how much you like this necklace, I wouldn’t dream of taking it from you. How about this, you take me to the King’s palace, and I’ll tell you how we can ignore magic immunity and turn into human form, Hani.”

Upon hearing this, Brother Feifan immediately beamed with joy, ”That’s a deal! No going back on your word when the time comes, Hani, Hani!”

Having successfully recruited a Hani to lead the way, Yang Yu’s mood lightened once more.

Since Brother Feifan appeared rather grand and high-class, even though some Hani had doubts about Yang Yu’s identity along the way, their suspicions were instantly dismissed.

Aside from finding Yang Yu somewhat unusual, they didn’t really care what he was, so long as he didn’t lay hands on them, they wouldn’t mess with him.

And of course, Yang Yu wasn’t foolish enough to start trouble with the Hani in their village. Even if he did start something, he’d drag them to the neighboring woods—that was a more convenient place for action.

Following Brother Feifan, Yang Yu and his companions made their way deeper into Hani Village, where the surrounding buildings increasingly resembled the style of human medieval architecture.

Finally, Yang Yu and his companions came upon a massive castle constructed of white, blue, and gold. In front of the majestic gates stood two Hani Guards, each holding a trident. Since their rotund hands lacked fingers, the entire trident appeared to be magnetized to their hands.

”We’re here. According to our deal, tell me how to ignore magic immunity now, Hani.”

Having brought Yang Yu to the gate, Brother Feifan couldn’t wait to receive his reward.

On the way, Yang Yu had already come up with an excuse,

”Thank you for bringing us here, Hani, Hani. I’ll tell you what I know right now, but you must absolutely keep this secret. It took me quite some effort to figure this out.

If you want to apply magic paint to yourself, you actually just need to wrap thick cloth around your body. If that doesn’t work, then I’m out of ideas, after all, not all magic is the same, Hani, Hani.”

”So that’s it! I get it now! There really was such a method! I’ll go home now and try it. Hani, Hani, hope to see you again!”

At the palace entrance, Yang Yu had cajoled Brother Feifan back home, as if he were soothing a five-year-old child.

Then, with a mischievous smile, Yang Yu turned his attention to the two Hani Guards guarding the castle.
