Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 177: Chapter 177 Isn’t That Even Better?

”Don’t think about cheating. I defeated you all fair and square, and everyone here saw it.”

Everything was going as expected. Yang Yu’s face brimmed with pride while Tiya Luo and the host of examiners were all ensnared by his strategems, thoroughly disoriented by the Shadow of Hani King.

Although Yang Yu did not know why there were so many people attending today, their presence was indeed a great help to him.

It fundamentally prevented Tiya Luo from going back on his word, insisting that Yang Yu had cheated on the exam and that his results should be nullified.

Under the watchful eyes of all, for the Library’s reputation, Tiya Luo dared not utter unqualified words.

With his right hand pressing on his forehead, Tiya Luo, trying to steady his swirling head, silently complimented Yang Yu. Until the last person was out, he remained vigilant without a hint of slackening. Trying to coax the ”Shadow of Hani King” out of him was simply a fool’s dream.

It’s no wonder; acquiring that item must have taken a lot of effort, and he definitely didn’t want to see his efforts go to waste.

To have such talent join the Library, Tiya Luo had nothing to complain about; instead, he would wholeheartedly approve.

Ever since the special rules for Monster Tamers were implemented, no Monster Tamer had passed the Martial Arts Exam to become a member of the All Things Library.

Yang Yu’s emergence filled this gap.

While explaining it to the Library Elders’ Council would undoubtedly be troublesome, considering the long-term future of the Library, the Council would probably still choose to allow Yang Yu to become a Library member.

Moreover, upon entering the Library, there were some special regulations targeting Monster Tamers.

With those regulations in place, admitting one or two Monster Tamers would not be an issue.

Thinking of this, Tiya Luo straightforwardly conceded.

”I keep my word. You have passed the Martial Arts Exam, and both you and your companion can become Library members. Go over there; there are staff assigned to handle your registration and complete the entry process.”

Tiya Luo pointed to a pristine white wall. The wall gradually grew more transparent until a staircase appeared, stretching into the unknown.

”Thank you. Until we meet again.”

With a smile, Yang Yu glanced towards the audience seats, and as he had done before, he waved at the crowd.

The majority of people in the audience seats were still immersed in the recent shock. Martial arts examiners were like a nightmare for many who undertook the Martial Arts Exam.

Previously, the examiner would use the force of a thunderbolt and, in the blink of an eye, collect the tuition fees from the examinees.

However, someone had now completely outwitted the examiner in the same way that an examiner bullied the examinees, and had done so without a scratch -- something unprecedented since the establishment of the martial art exam system by the Library.

Every spectator present had witnessed history and they spontaneously applauded Yang Yu.

Raising his fist, Yang Yu bowed to all the spectators present. Then, summoning Bai Jin and Iyas, he walked through the wide arena, entered the corridor, and vanished at the end of the staircase.

After Yang Yu left, Tiya Luo clapped his hands gently and turned to face the lifeless line of examiners, not with anger but with a smile,

”This failure is not on you. As I said before, even if some elders were to take my place, they wouldn’t stand a chance against him. Cheer up; today’s Martial Arts Exam isn’t over yet. Redeem this mishap with a spectacular fight.”

Hearing this, all the examiners perked up and returned to their seats.

Except for one...

Dian Wen looked at the now-empty arena, the scene of the recent showdown vividly in front of his eyes, feeling as if something had tugged fiercely at his heart.

There’s a limit to the Magician profession.

Even if you constantly learn various kinds of magic, some opponents are simply insurmountable.

To become stronger, magic alone is not enough.

One must learn melee combat.

The Melee Mage, that is the true path forward for a Magician.

With this thought in mind, Dian Wen resolved to change his current path.

All just to avoid the embarrassment he faced today.

...

...

Unaware that he had just altered someone’s life course, Yang Yu led his team through the corridor under the guidance of an officer, heading towards the registration room.

The registration room was located next to another entrance of the guildhall, and upon arrival, the last rays of the setting sun could be glimpsed through the transparent glass door.

At that moment, two tables were set up in front of the registration room, behind which a female Magician wearing a massive purple magic hat sat and worked.

This woman appeared to be in her twenties or thirties; her deep blue hair ended in upturned hooks, and her purple-red long dress had a slight slit on one side, revealing her gracefully crossed leg, allowing Yang Yu to glimpse the inside of her other pristine white leg.

She too wore a name tag, not embedded with stars like those of Advanced Members, but adorned with an open cherry blossom, each petal a different color—pink, white, red, green, orange, arranged clockwise from the top.

Baronaco Xilo, member of the Library Elders’ Council.

Seeing this title, Yang Yu couldn’t help but smile. The registration was so unassuming, yet unexpectedly manned by a member of the Elders’ Council.

That meant this woman was likely much older than she appeared, very possibly an old woman dressing youthfully, wearing such an off-shoulder, slit-dress...

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

”Young man, were you just thinking something very rude?”

Baronaco Xilo narrowed her eyes, put her leg down, and stood up.

”At your young age, don’t fantasize about every woman you see. Besides, you already have two such lovely young ladies following you. Adding another might be too much for your body.”

Wrong!

I indeed had a very rude thought just now, but I was wondering how old you, the old woman, are, not what I wanted to do to you, an old woman.

Yang Yu, of course, could not voice the thoughts in his heart. If he did, he might be instantly obliterated by Baronaco Xilo on the spot.

And surely, he couldn’t admit to having inappropriate thoughts about this Hundred-level old woman.

Truthfully, Yang Yu did find this well-preserved old woman to be a sensation worthy of a shout-out on some obscure website.

If he revealed her true age, he might even garner responses like ”Isn’t that even better?”

Some people just have those inclinations.

But Yang Yu was different. He could not muster any interest in this fully ripened maiden; the only interest he had was in the tasks she might issue.

Of course, when dealing with such a person, one should remain cautious until understanding her character.

After all, in the game, there were no shortages of missions earnestly issued, luring the protagonist step by step, consuming him thoroughly before revealing a wicked old witch’s true nature.

With a slight smile, Yang Yu looked at Baronaco Xilo. ”My body can’t handle it? That remains to be seen. Why don’t you try it?”
