Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 153: Chapter 153 Don’t Ask, Just Say It’s from the Underground Maze

”Hani, you see my technique is not bad, right?”

”Amazing, so amazing! So this is how children are made, Hani.”

”I need to speed up, can you keep up, Hani?”

”No... no problem! I can definitely keep up.”

The two magical creatures, resembling clay pots, stirred the clay with their short, round hands and shaped it into forms just like themselves.

Indeed, these were Hanis, a kind of magic creature completely immune to magic.

Their so-called ”child making” was crafting dolls out of clay that resembled them and then infusing them with a soul.

These Hanis were exactly the same as the ones in Yang Yu’s memory.

Who would have thought that one could encounter such demons outside of Company A’s games; the god who made this game was quite knowledgeable.

It’s also uncertain if other strange things might show up—if a tyrant dragon appears one would need to get a Courage Badge, if a Garlic Turtle shows up one should find a Treasure Ball to subdue it, and if monsters from Monster Hunter intrude, one would have to seriously consider which barbecue to bring to craft weapons from their materials.

The thought of going through all sorts of bizarre stages filled Yang Yu with joy as he kept waving the two branches in his hands.

Bai Jin and Iyas by his side were speechless; you’re showing me this after all that buildup?

”When we were at the inn, you seemed completely unaware of such creatures. But now, how come you seem to know everything about them?” Iyas asked with a puzzled look on her face.

Bai Jin also had her doubts, ”I’ve always thought you’re full of strange knowledge. Your combat skills are too polished. The more I fight alongside you, the more this weird feeling intensifies. Where did you learn all that?”

The reason I’m so proficient, of course, is that I have a wide hunting range and have played many games.

Yang Yu, of course, could not reveal what he truly thought.

If these NPCs knew he was actually a character from the games, what kind of expressions would they have?

Honestly, Yang Yu was quite interested.

But it wasn’t hard to imagine that if he really voiced those thoughts, he would most likely be met with a ”are you crazy, what nonsense are you talking?” look from Bai Jin and Iyas.

This world had no concept of video games, and explaining the principles to them wouldn’t be easy.

So, Yang Yu didn’t bother making things difficult for himself and found a plausible explanation.

”The Underground Maze is really magical; it holds many inconceivable things.

The reason I know so much is that I spent my childhood in an Underground Maze and somehow fumbled my way through it. My combat skills and the strange things I occasionally bring out, like the antibiotics I gave to Bai Jin and the bottle of Lao Ganma I sold to Uncle Chilom, were all things I got from that maze.

So, don’t ask me why I know so many strange things in the future.

If you ask, it’s all from the Underground Maze.”

Yang Yu said lightly, and initially, Bai Jin and Iyas were somewhat incredulous, but after thinking it over, Yang Yu’s explanation seemed flawless and could account for many things.

In the end, they chose to believe Yang Yu.

Perhaps Yang Yu’s explanation was too long—Hani, who was making the mud figures, stopped and looked sharply in Yang Yu’s direction, challenging,

”Who, who’s there!”

Holding two small tree branches, Yang Yu kept his composure, took a deep breath, and then let out the meow of an old cat,

”Meow meow meow?”

Hani sighed in relief, ”It’s just a cat, no worries. Hani, let’s continue making children!”

”Ah! Our secret child-making was discovered, so embarrassing, so embarrassing!” The clay pot-like Hani blushed and then ran off without looking back.

”Hani, it was just a cat...”

Hani stretched out its smooth little short hands, but still couldn’t stop the Hani, who vanishing entirely into the forest.

Hani, split apart.

Just as the literal meaning suggests, Hani crumbled into pieces of rubble and scattered around the clay.

”Hey, hey, hey! It turned into fragments!” Iyas exclaimed in surprise.

”Don’t worry, Hani is a type of demon. Whenever it experiences too great an emotional upheaval, it will turn into that. It’ll recover on its own in a while. We accidentally disturbed their intimate moment. It splitting apart was to be expected. More importantly, hurry and chase the other Hani. It’s definitely heading toward Hani Village!”

Yang Yu tossed aside two root branches and, stepping over the scattered Hani fragments, chased in the direction where the Hani had disappeared.

Not long after running, houses shaped like giant Hani called Hani’s Houses came into view in front of Yang Yu and his companions. Looking far ahead, there were huts of varying sizes in front of the houses, selling all kinds of goods, making up a small market.

Various sizes and colors of Hani bustled through the market, each taking what they needed, creating quite a lively scene.

Seeing this, both Bai Jin and Iyas’ eyes widened as they looked around.

”Is this the Hani’s village?”

”It’s hardly any different from a human’s town.”

”Don’t make a fuss. If I’m not wrong, there should also be a King Hani existing in this village. Stick close to me,” said Yang Yu as he casually stepped into the Hani-filled street.

Bai Jin and Iyas exchanged glances and ultimately, followed Yang Yu’s pace.

”Good morning, Hani.”

”Today’s apples are nice, how about some, Hani!”

”Hani! Hani! Are you free tonight?”

”Hani... Hani...”

All the Hani carried on with their lives as if they hadn’t seen Yang Yu and the others, until a blue Hani blocked Yang Yu’s path.

”It’s a human! Eh! Are you guys human?”

This exclamation, like a fuse, instantly ignited the curiosity of all the Hani.

”Hani Hani! Are you really human?”

”Seldom seen! Hani Hani!”

”What are humans doing here, Hani Hani!”

The Hani swarmed around Yang Yu and the others as if they were gawking at some kind of rare creature, leaving no way out.

The bad memories surfaced again in Iyas’ mind, her expression tense and at a loss for what to do.

Bai Jin, who had never been this popular before, felt dizzy as the Hani called out ’Hani Hani’ over and over, almost fainting.

Only Yang Yu remained calm and collected, facing the crowd of Hani with a hearty laugh.

”Haha Haha Haha! Hani Hani! You’ve all been tricked; we’re actually Hani too! We just used some kind of magic to look like humans. Hani Hani!”

Such an obvious lie would fool no one; even lying requires a better excuse.

Just as Bai Jin and Iyas coincidentally thought this, the Hani surrounding them in a circle dispersed in an instant.

”What the heck, it turns out they’re just Hani.”

”I told you humans couldn’t easily come here, Hani.”

”How disappointing. Hani.”

All the Hani returned to their respective homes.

The street instantly regained its calm as if the crowd had never happened.
