Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 145: Chapter 145: I think this wave is steady now

Martial prowess is also a standard for assessing someone, and the Library, always eager to recruit talented individuals, naturally wouldn’t miss the opportunity to include those with formidable abilities.

Anyone who pays the examination fee and passes the All Things Library’s Martial Arts Exam can become a member of the vast library.

The Literary Exam and Martial Arts Exam complement each other, allowing the All Things Library to develop in a balanced way, achieving true prowess in both scholar and warrior pursuits.

After failing the exam, Yang Yu wasn’t the least bit discouraged and immediately began preparing for the Martial Arts Exam.

First, he took Bai Jin and Iyas to the training field to train, significantly improving Bai Jin and Iyas’s reaction speed and coping abilities.

Apart from a certain Slime who was always loafing around, their team’s coordination also improved by a notch.

He Meng had clearly expressed through Bai Jin that, ”This is a human affair, solve it yourselves, don’t implicate me.”

Seeing He Meng’s favor inexplicably drop to -10, Yang Yu could only begrudgingly bury it with a bag of Clovers.

However, after eating the Clovers, He Meng promptly fell asleep, showing not the slightest consideration for Yang Yu’s feelings.

Left with no choice, Yang Yu simply gave up on having the clearly powerful but slackish He Meng participate in the Martial Arts Exam.

The training field Yang Yu often visited was privately owned, exclusively for Nobles to conduct duels, and occasionally hosted some fighting festivals to rake in some gold.

While training his group there, Yang Yu happened upon a fighting festival and casually secured the runner-up position. In the end, not only did they use the training field for free, but they even made a little profit.

By the way, the champion of this fighting festival was a Level 73 middle-aged noble Knight named Rotis Marling.

Sizing up the opponent’s impressive attributes and seasoned appearance, without a second thought, Yang Yu instantly forfeited—after all, there was no Experience to be gained right now, so there was no need to fight to the death.

Before the competition officially ended, Yang Yu heavily flattered that Knight, tossing out praise after praise, such as, ”You’re really too strong, there’s not even one chance in ten that I could beat you,” and, ”You’ve already become an unmatched fighter among the Nobles, I have no free time to be masochistic,” and, ”If you were ten years younger, you could probably even defeat the Demon King”—blowing hot air all over the place.

In his heart, Yang Yu had already made a little scheme. Such a strong person couldn’t possibly be unknown on the Continent—he must be a big Experience Bag walking around.

First, he’d elevate the opponent, so that next time they met, it would be easier to lay a trap for him.

To prepare for the Martial Arts Exam, Yang Yu also nearly ran through the entire district, using the prize money to find some black market informants and purchasing some information about the Martial Arts Exam.

As for information on Skills or Racial Essences, the black market started prices at one million, and upon hearing that, Yang Yu immediately abandoned the thought. Just take the Martial Arts Exam honestly. Once he passes and successfully becomes a Advanced Member of the All Things Library, he could search for whatever he wanted then. Why waste unnecessary money?

The All Things Library’s examiners change every week of the Martial Arts Exam, with an eight-week rotation. If you can find the weakest group out of the eight, the chances of passing the Martial Arts Exam would greatly increase.

After spending over a hundred thousand, Yang Yu successfully got the list of the Library’s martial arts examiners from an informant.

On the list, Tico’s name was conspicuous. If he encounters this deity, he wouldn’t stand a chance, so Yang Yu immediately dismissed the group Tico was in.

Isn’t Tico a Five-star Advanced Member? What’s he doing popping into a two to three star Martial Examination?

Maybe, the All Things Library hopes that Tico would gain some combat experience from the Martial Arts Exam.

Anyway, it’s always best to pick the low-hanging fruit.

Yang Yu selected the weakest group unanimously agreed upon, and after discreetly getting a handle on the routines of a couple of Magicians on the list and casually observing their attributes, he had a good handle on this group’s strength.

As long as there aren’t any last-minute changes to the lineup this week, it should be pretty much stable.

After paying the one million group registration fee, together with his team and following the guiding Star-level Mage, Yang Yu and the others participating in the Martial Arts Exam arrived at the grand convention hall in the center of the All Things Library.

The giant convention hall resembled a golden bowl inverted atop a bird’s nest, or more aptly, it seemed as if a gigantic golden egg was placed in the bird’s nest.

Many Library members passing by with their newly bought Crystal Balls would occasionally cast curious glances at the squad taking the Martial Arts Exam, but then their gazes would return to chuckle at the amusing patterns emerging within the Crystal Balls.

While Panda Man emoticons were stirring up a frenzy inside the All Things Library, no one anticipated that the instigator behind this craze had stepped into the All Things Library once again, blending into the throng taking the martial examination.

”Remember the rules of the Martial Arts Exam. Draw lots at the entrance. When your number is called, it’s your turn to take the exam, and the rest will wait in the lounge—do not wander.”

The voice of the lead Star-level Magician boomed. Those participating in the Martial Arts Exam, either individually or in small teams, lined up in front of the hall and entered in order.

At the entrance, a Magician was holding the draw box. Yang Yu reached into the draw box and pulled out his number tag—it was number one.

This meant that they were the first team to take the exam.

Yang Yu didn’t mind; having investigated for a good amount of time, he was confident in his preparations, regardless of whether they went first or last.

After drawing lots, all exam participants proceeded to the lounge. Without any convoluted procedures, the Martial Arts Exam silently commenced.

The Star-level Member who had led the way transformed into a guide, clearing his throat,

”Number one, prepare for the examination.”

Without even warming the lounge’s bench, Yang Yu flashed his number tag and stood up, striding towards the combat platform.

As he stepped onto the platform, the blue glow from the Magic Lamps was somewhat blinding, prompting Yang Yu to instinctively raise his hand to shield his eyes, taking a moment before he gradually made out his surroundings.

The interior of the convention hall was not much different from that of ordinary arenas, with the huge circular space being extremely vast, and densely packed spectator seats encircling the perimeter.

At that moment, the spectator section was filled with viewers, most likely ordinary Library members who enjoyed watching others flash their swords and wield their spears as a respite from their studies, enriching their daily lives.

There were also reporters from the Library Newspaper. If someone was able to pass the Martial Arts Exam, they would immediately write an article and publish it in the next issue of the Library Newspaper, acquainting the students with the new ”partner.”

Facing the entryway were the seats designated for the examiners. Yang Yu glanced over and saw a total of eight examiners and one spirited middle-aged man, nearly matching the report to a tee.

Except for someone...

The spirited middle-aged man cleared his throat, ”Number one has entered the arena, the exam will proceed in a team format, needing to consecutively beat two members of two stars or higher to pass the examination. First up, the first opponent for number one is—Dian Wen.”

On the examiner’s bench, a man dressed in a purple robe, with black hair and blue eyes, activated his Magic and landed steadily across from Yang Yu.

Dian Wen looked towards Yang Yu, feeling a sense of familiarity,

”You are...”

All Yang Yu offered in response was a helpless smile.
