Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 143: Chapter 143 Make a Big News

During this time of year, just like in previous years, the Exam Paper Viewing Room at the All Things Library, after announcing the exam results, immediately opened its doors to the Library’s Star-level Members.

It was bustling as usual.

Of course, the hustle and bustle referred solely to the crowd of people.

Loud noises were strictly prohibited—as per the Library’s rules—the Library still had to maintain its library atmosphere.

For those looking to tear up pages, pick fights, or discuss, the Library would provide them with a special discussion room. Inside was a Barrier where even if you screamed at the top of your lungs or had a dance party over a tombstone, it would not affect the reading experience inside the Library.

This year, three thousand three hundred and twenty test-takers participated in the All Things Library entrance examination, and the file bags containing their test papers filled a new bookshelf.

These file bags were divided into five tiers, each separated by a transparent partition.

First, one hundred and eighty to two hundred points were the first tier, known as the qualifiers who, as the name suggests, passed the test to become members of the Library. If there was a perfect score among them, the file bag would be marked with a special blue tag.

Next, one hundred and sixty to one hundred and seventy-nine points were the second tier, known as the pitiful ones, just shy of passing the test for the Library.

The third tier, from one hundred to one hundred and fifty-nine points, was known as the ordinary people, the most numerous group and the most common range of scores. Hardly anyone bothered to look through this tier.

The fourth tier, from ten to ninety-nine points, was known as the curious ones. People in this tier were mostly wealthy Nobles or merchants, simply curious about the Library’s exam system, bored and flush with cash, they came to take the test, and the questions they managed to answer were usually just common sense.

However, these officials and Nobles weren’t just in it for fun; sitting in luxurious hotels, the fact they had taken the Library’s exam became a topic of conversation.

Lastly, the fifth tier, from zero to ten points, was known as the idiots.

This was the Star-level Members’ disdainful nickname for the foolhardy wealthy who spent a fortune to take the test yet were clueless about even basic knowledge.

You say you don’t understand basic knowledge of this world, can’t even get ten points, well, what can I say, except that you’re a fool with too much money.

For more than a decade, the fifth tier had always been empty, but this year, there was one red file bag.

Those who came to view the exam papers were amazed; since the Library began recruiting members through exams, there had never been such a red bag.

If it had been any other year, no one would have paid attention to this foolishly wealthy fifth tier, but this year, that red file bag was too eye-catching.

Speculating briefly, the Star-level Members present were certain that inside that one red file bag was the Legendary zero-point test paper.

Every test paper corresponded to a seat number, and even if you forgot to fill in the transfer certificate number or forgot to write your name, as long as you completed the paper, the Library would register your score; there was no such thing as writing answers for naught.

If a blank paper was handed in, the Library would cancel the person’s qualification for disrespecting the exam, and such a paper would not appear in the Viewing Room.

This means that someone had attempted the test and got everything wrong, earning the legendary zero points.

What was that zero-point test paper like? Could it be that the person really didn’t know how to answer any questions and just answered randomly?

This thought surfaced in everyone’s mind, and the Library Members present couldn’t help but be curious.

Since they were already here and since many people were jostling to see the qualifiers’ papers, might as well take out the red file bag and have a look. If indeed the answers were random, they could just stuff the paper back in its place.

Before long.

The first daring soul appeared.

Her name was Keke Ai, one of the reporters for the Library Newspaper.

The All Things Library has seen its unprecedented zero-point score; how could she miss such big news?

Whether it was random answers or whatever, the sheer audacity of scoring zero points was already newsworthy.

At the very least, it would occupy a corner of the page.

If she could discern something more from the paper, she could embellish it, stir up a big story. By that time, it wouldn’t just take up a corner of the page but an entire page.

Therefore, while others were still pondering what was in the zero-point paper, Keke Ai stirred and took the red file bag from the shelf, found an empty table, and sat down.

The Library had rules stating that once someone took books, file bags, documents, or other items off the shelf, unless actively passing it on, they had the right to keep it until they were done using it. Others were reminded not to fight over it, causing a disturbance.

Seeing the zero-point paper taken, many Star-level Members who had decided to explore its true nature sighed inwardly that they were a step too late and regretted their hesitation.

The paper had fallen into the hands of a Library Newspaper reporter; it wouldn’t likely return to the shelf for a while.

Sitting at the desk, Keke Ai carefully laid the red file bag in front of her, blew a breath into the palm of her hand, and whether her article would make it into the next issue of the Newspaper depended on the examination paper within this red file bag.

The file bag listed the most basic information about the candidate, such as Name, admission ticket number, date of birth, age, and place of origin.

”The test-taker’s name is Yang Yu, let’s note that down for now. Being infamous in the history of the Library is a skill in its own right.”

Ready for whatever might come, Keke Ai gently pulled out the test paper and spread it out in front of her.

Many curious Star-level Members cast their gazes from afar; their vision was sharp enough to see how many words were written on the paper and to know if the Answerer was answering randomly.

However, this time what they saw was not row after row of neat text but patterns made up of white and black blocks, like someone had scribbled on the paper as a child might do.

Keke Ai’s gaze quickly swept over the paper, flipped to the next page, and it too was full of child-like doodle patterns.

The onlooking crowd sighed internally; the Library Newspaper reporter had crashed and burned after all.

”Hehe.”

At that moment, a small laugh was heard from the crowd.

The Library was meant for studying, and this was the solemn Exam Paper Viewing Room; it was unlikely for someone to let out such an inappropriate giggle while reviewing.

”Hehe.”

Just when people were doubting their own ears, that small laugh came out again.

Searching around, they finally found the source of the giggles to be the Newspaper reporter Keke Ai.

Newspaper reporters were always known for their seriousness, and here she was, laughing now, which astonished countless Star-level Members. The source of her amusement? The very test paper unfolded before her.

A spark of curiosity ignited in everyone’s hearts; even those who had first gotten the qualifiers’ papers set aside their own to look towards the blooming Keke Ai.
