Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 114: Chapter 114 What Did I Miss?

Yang Yu exerted all his strength to throw, and with a ”whoosh”, a blue ”water droplet” shot out of the white dust straight towards Amon’s face.

Not knowing what was flying towards him, Amon, just to be safe, fluttered his wings and dodged the ”water droplet,” allowing it to hit the ceiling behind him.

The attack missed, however, Yang Yu’s countdown continued,

”Two!”

”One!”

Yang Yu slowly announced the final number, and at that moment, Amon’s light shield was also lifted. Amon quickly realized there was something peculiar about the water droplet Yang Yu had thrown at him and hurriedly turned back to look at the ”water droplet.”

He saw the ”water droplet” firmly stuck to the ceiling, countless blue orbs separating from its body and hovering in mid-air.

What Yang Yu had thrown was none other than He Meng, who had been sleeping in Bai Jin’s hoodie.

Indeed, while Yang Yu and Amon were fiercely engaged in battle, He Meng had fallen asleep.

This wasn’t He Meng’s fault; Yang Yu and the others had entered the underground city close to midnight and were running around the third level to solve puzzles. Due to sheer boredom, He Meng had started yawning and then nodded off into a deep sleep.

After all, He Meng had been slacking off before and Yang Yu had managed to handle most situations; continuing to slack off wouldn’t be a problem this time.

If something happened that he couldn’t handle, that man would surely shamelessly wake him up.

So, He Meng comfortably and soundly fell asleep.

Of course, He Meng’s sleep wasn’t entirely smooth; several times, the noise almost woke him from his sweet dreams, but fortunately, he was deeply asleep.

However, eventually, his pleasant dream was completely disrupted by a pair of big hands. Just as He Meng was wondering who had woken him up, the next second, it found itself being stuffed under a shield.

At that moment, He Meng wanted to leap up and slap Yang Yu twice, but slimes perceive the world in peculiar ways.

Trying to crawl out from under the shield, He Meng stopped; Bai Jin was barely alive, the sky filled with white fog, with golden light hanging high above.

For a moment, He Meng was utterly confused.

Did I miss something while I was asleep?

Are we fighting an angel?

Did he stir up more trouble?

He Meng tried to seek an explanation from Yang Yu. However, Yang Yu was all serious, speaking concisely, ”You understand the ins and outs now. We need your help—follow my lead and watch for my signals!”

Huh?

Before He Meng had even grasped what was happening, Yang Yu laid Bai Jin down, covered him with a blanket, then grabbed a bag of flour, dressed it up with a skirt, and started running.

Yang Yu knew He Meng was intelligent and would certainly understand his intentions.

Even if it didn’t, it wouldn’t matter. Amon would surely be astonished to see a slime appear there and would definitely attack He Meng to eliminate any future threat, at which point there would be no need for Yang Yu to shout any commands; He Meng would act to save itself.

This was also Yao Yu’s way of subtly supervising.

He didn’t raise a slime just to have it freeloading and acting cute as a mascot but wanted it to become a potent force capable of standing on its own in combat.

You could say we’ve worked ourselves to the bone for so long. You’ve freeloaded so much experience, asking you to fight for me isn’t too much, right?

Of course, Yang Yu also had other strategies prepared, but those strategies were somewhat time-consuming. It was more straightforward and far more enjoyable to use He Meng.

Naturally, He Meng had no idea about Yang Yu’s actual thoughts and was even a bit confused about the situation when it was thrown out and stuck to the ceiling.

From within the gap in the shield, He Meng saw Amon surrounded by a golden glow and realized that this was probably a skill that granted short-term immunity to damage. Yang Yu’s count was likely to determine how long that skill lasted, giving it an opportunity to strike.

Since they were thrown up here, Yang Yu and the others seemed to have no clue how to deal with the Angel, so He Meng decided to reluctantly help them out.

After all, if Yang Yu died here, it would be like losing a movable five-star restaurant, which He Meng was not willing to let happen.

Without much thought, countless water balls separated from He Meng’s gelatinous body and instantly transformed into a series of long spears, sharp and deadly, filling the sky.

[Royal Bloodline: Slime King’s Spear]

The opponent was an Angel, and naturally, He Meng dared not hold anything back.

”Royal Slime?” Amon widened his eyes in disbelief, ”Why is it here? Could it be that it has gained the recognition of the Royal Slime...”

He Meng issued the order to slaughter, and a series of sharp spears poured forth.

Amon reacted promptly, flapping his wings to swiftly descend, dodging He Meng’s attack.

This maze was designed for humans, only taking into account human levels and various statistics; it completely overlooked the possibility of demons strategizing in the underground city.

Because those demons simply couldn’t solve each level’s puzzles or defeat each level’s gatekeepers!

Now, the sky was completely controlled by He Meng’s long spears, to regain air control, one would either have to keep dodging He Meng’s attacks or use ranged attacks on the Slime, but the problem was the Royal Slime’s dual defenses were terribly high, and relying solely on his own attacks would likely be ineffective.

As Amon was still pondering how to regain air control, Yang Yu’s voice, ghostly in nature, rang from behind Amon, ”Yo, compassionate Lord Angel. Check! Mate!”

Turning around, Yang Yu held up his shield and leaped high.

Amon vibrated his wings, trying to change his flight path, but Yang Yu had released ”Sudden Killing Intent” just before jumping and was even faster, the large and hard shield hitting him on the back, sending him flying high towards the sharp spears ahead.

Golden feathers scattered, and a series of blue long spears pierced Amon’s body, nailing him to the pristine white wall, and the gradually quieting flour was stirred up again, instantly filling the air with a white mist.

The battle, was over.

Amon’s HP reached zero.

He Meng had completely emptied all of Amon’s blood bars in one move.

As the dust settled, Yang Yu slowly walked towards Amon, who was pinned to the white wall.

Amon’s substantial body began to slowly dissolve into specks of stars, sinking into the walls of the underground city.

”Thank you. With this, my mission is also deemed complete...” Defeated, Amon’s mouth revealed a smile, ”It seems that choosing to be summoned back was the right choice.”

Yang Yu put away his shield and sword, dusting off the flour from his body,

”No need to thank me, I’m just an ordinary adventurer, I came here with a clear purpose.

The words I shared with you were just a spur of the moment thing. Finally, let me finish what I didn’t get to say earlier.

Humans are complicated, often making simple things complicated and also simplifying things that are complex.

I prefer to discuss things based on the facts.

It’s still your previous question. When you put yourself in that situation, you could come up with many solutions. It’s definitely not as simple as choosing between a little girl or five people.

Moreover, if the people the carriage is rushing towards are all your sworn enemies or extremely wicked individuals, would you still save them?

I definitely wouldn’t.

Discussing based on facts makes life easier.

Alright, I’ve said a lot.

You can go in peace now, but remember to leave the treasure chest for me.

I can hardly wait to open the box.”
