Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 121: Chapter 121 I Suspect You Are......

At the beginning, Yang Yu didn’t even want to bother with the man, but then he thought, going to all the trouble of hiding in the jungle, ambushing on the main path to the All Things Library, and keeping up with the horse carriage at an incredibly fast pace, this person must be no ordinary individual.

So, Yang Yu couldn’t help but become interested in what the man was selling.

”What exactly are those things you’re talking about?”

”Big, big, big brother, you’re just kidding me, what, what, what else could I be selling here.” The man looked around cautiously and whispered, ”Absolutely guaranteed quality, and even cheaper than them, miss this village, and you won’t find this shop again.”

The man’s stuttering was truly hard to listen to, but Yang Yu still patiently asked, ”If you don’t tell me exactly what you’re selling, I may just speed up and leave.”

”Don’t go, big brother!” Hearing Yang Yu was about to leave, the man immediately became anxious, ”The, the, the things I sell, you all need them, it’s not convenient to speak out here, but since big, big, big brother asked, I, I, I will tell you what I am selling.”

The man looked around again to make sure no one was there, then whispered, ”Big brother, what I, I, I am selling are notebooks.”

”Note, note, note, notebooks, what kind of notebooks?” Yang Yu imitated the man’s tone and asked.

The man said nervously, ”It’s those kind of notebooks that aren’t supposed to be seen, and if the big brother pays more, I, I, I also have even more sensational ones here.”

At this point, Yang Yu instantly understood.

He couldn’t help but sigh; in broad daylight, and within the vicinity of the Library, someone was still so brazen, corrupting social mores.

Hmph—

Really—

”Let me take a look.”

Cough, don’t get me wrong.

Yang Yu was just going to check the content, as a good citizen, he had the responsibility to fight crime, not to let a single bad guy go, and definitely not to wrong a single good person.

So, checking was very necessary, to see if the content was as he expected, only then could he judge whether the man was good or bad.

”If you want to inspect the goods, of course, you can.” Hearing Yang Yu’s request, the man broke into a smile, and with a swoosh, he opened up his tightly buttoned clothes, revealing several neatly bound books under his clothes.

Each book cover was made of brown parchment, and it was impossible to judge the quality of the contents by the cover.

Yang Yu was greatly disappointed, he stopped the horse carriage,

”Just by looking like this, you can’t know the content inside.”

The man’s face was beaming with joy, ”You don’t need to worry about that, big brother, the quality here is top-notch. Come on, pick one to see. Buy five, get one free, and if you pay a bit more, I have even stronger stuff.”

Stronger stuff?

Yang Yu was suddenly a bit excited, he casually pointed at one, ”Show me that book!”

”Hmm—” The man nodded, hurriedly reached into his clothes, and pulled out a notebook.

But before he could hand the notebook over to Yang Yu, the man suddenly became alert, stuffed the notebook back into his clothes without a word, and ran towards the dense woods, not looking back as he took off.

Hmm?

Big brother, after saying so much, you decide not to do business just like that; I was even a little bit expectant.

Just as Yang Yu was hesitating whether to chase after him, Bai Jin tugged on his clothes,

”Yang Yu, I can feel a surge of magic power coming from that direction, it seems like there is something over there.”

Looking in the direction Bai Jin was pointing, Yang Yu only saw the clear blue sky, and the System didn’t react either.

Suddenly, from the void Bai Jin was pointing at, an unwilling voice came out, ”Damn it, he noticed me again, why does he run away so quickly every time!”

Amidst the shifting light and shadows, a handsome young man appeared in the void, slowly landing beside their horse carriage.

The young man had black hair and blue eyes, wore a purple long robe with a name tag on his chest that sported two golden pentagrams, and he carried an ordinary wooden magic wand, muttering to himself,

”I even learned a highly complicated Invisibility Technique just to capture him, and he still gets away. How does he always detect me coming! What exactly is going wrong!”

After sighing for a while, the young man finally turned to Yang Yu and introduced himself,

”Hello, I am Dian Wen, a Patrol Officer from the All Things Library; that man just now is our target for capture.

He specializes in selling his collected study materials to passersby like yourselves, then incrementally lures them into buying those so-called leaked examination question sets for this year’s exams. Every year, he succeeds multiple times, deceiving countless people.”

Ah, so he was selling study materials; I thought he must have been dealing with...

No, that’s exactly what I thought.

I knew a sacred place like the Library could never have such things, let alone take those things into the woods to sell them.

But still, could someone that stuttered really persuade others to purchase study materials at a high price?

After calming his slight disappointment, Yang Yu turned to Dian Wen, wanting to chat for a bit and fish for some information from him, when an Array appeared under Dian Wen’s feet, slightly lifting him off the ground.

”Please be more vigilant, keep your feet firm on the ground, and remember that there is no shortcut in the world, do not think of taking the easy way out. I still have duty to attend to, so I’ll say goodbye for now. I wish you good luck on your exams.”

”Wait a minute!”

Before Yang Yu could finish speaking, Dian Wen flew high up into the sky, overlooking Yang Yu, ”Do you need anything else?”

Yang Yu stood up, and looked up at Dian Wen from the horse carriage, ”At least tell me, what’s the deal with wishing us luck on our exams?”

Dian Wen, floating in the sky, paused and then said, ”Aren’t you guys young students here for this year’s exams?”

”No, or rather, we don’t even know what exam you’re talking about.”

”Then what are you here for?”

Yang Yu casually answered, ”Just traveling and checking out some materials.”

”I see, then I wish you a pleasant trip, I must be off now.”

With that, Dian Wen flew off without looking back, leaving only a faint trail of blue smoke. Arrived in haste, departed in haste.

”Tch—left so fast!”

Watching Dian Wen’s retreating figure, Yang Yu smacked his lips.

Even after I said we were here for travel, there was no need to leave so quickly. At least stop for a casual chat, tell us what these exams are about.

Yang Yu looked at Bai Jin, and Bai Jin shook her head indicating she didn’t know what he was referring to about the exams either.

After thinking it over, Yang Yu settled back into the driver’s seat of the horse carriage, flicking the reins, and guided the carriage toward the All Things Library. For the unknowns, they would have to find some locals to ask.
