Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 106: Chapter 106 Dark Knight

The light wrapped around their bodies gradually dispersed as Yang Yu and his companions landed on solid ground. They found themselves in a completely enclosed, vast space. Looking around, whether it was the ceiling, the floor, or the walls, everything was immaculately white, making it impossible to distinguish the boundaries between them. The entire place was enveloped in a white haze.

Through Peeping Magic, Scarjade observed every move made by the trio.

It had not expected Yang Yu to confidently mention Lux’s name.

Had he already conquered Lux’s underground city before?

That seemed impossible. Every clue about Lux existed deep within each underground city, and they weren’t supposed to have the strength to reach that depth yet...

Was it a wild guess? No, seeing his brimming confidence, it couldn’t possibly be just a guess...

Scarjade racked its brain but couldn’t figure out how Yang Yu knew that this underground city was created by the legendary hero.

In the end, it had no choice but to admit defeat and transported Yang Yu and his companions to the ninth floor.

”This level is not so easy to deal with. It may be as you say—the weaker the opponent, the weaker the Guardian becomes—but its strength still surpasses your imagination.

As long as its personality remains intact, any mistake could lead to your total annihilation.”

Scarjade casually flicked its tail while at the same time was filled with resentment.

Finally, someone had correctly answered its question, and it hoped for some relief, but then they pulled this stunt.

If they died and didn’t take the key out, it would have to repeat the same monotonous tasks.

But.

If, just if they could completely conquer the Black Knight, in a way, Scarjade would be liberated.

Now, it was no longer itself, or rather, it was never itself from the beginning. The more time passed, the more it doubted its own existence.

At that point, it might become a dutiful Manager, but it would also completely lose the trace of identity it had at birth.

Scarjade’s gaze toward Yang Yu and his companions turned fervent.

It felt somewhat sorry for the maze, but anticipation long-forgotten flickered in Scarjade’s eyes.

...

Carefully examining the pure white, mysterious space that was utterly empty—no Guardian, not even a grain of sand.

But Yang Yu knew that this was just the calm before the storm.

He quickly checked his companions’ status and handed each of them a small bottle of pale gold liquid as a precaution.

Then, they arranged themselves in a simple formation: Yang Yu in front, Bai Jin to the right rear, and Iyas to the left rear, forming a triangle.

Sadly, this triangle was made of wood, needing only a golden coating on the elf to become a complete iron triangle.

With the preparation complete, all that was left was to patiently wait for the storm to arrive.

Suddenly.

A point the size of an egg appeared in the center of the pure white space.

A bizarre Black Mist surged out from that point, recklessly spreading across the pristine floor, staining the flawless ceiling, and eventually climbing up the immaculate walls, enveloping the entire room in boundless darkness.

After several breaths, the singularity suddenly expanded and turned into a pitch-black door that seemed bottomless in the blink of an eye.

”Clack—”

Without any warning, a giant black iron boot came through the curtain and stepped onto the cold ground, making a crisp sound.

In an instant, the bone-chilling cold stabbed into Iyas’s heart like numerous spears.

She understood then, she finally understood where all the discomfort she felt since entering this underground city came from.

Behind the curtain was an exceedingly terrifying existence, as if it was life and death itself, able to snatch away all life in a moment.

”Kara—”

A gigantic and twisted black metal horn came through the door, the iron chains on the armor clinking, suffocatingly oppressive, as it took another step forward and its tall figure fully emerged from the pitch-black door.

It was a Dark Knight, over two meters tall.

The Dark Knight held a huge shield in his left hand, decorated with an angel spreading its wings, but the angel’s feet were tightly chained in black, preventing it from flying to the sky no matter how hard it tried.

In his right hand, the Dark Knight held a Spear, as straight as a pen, but the spearhead was as smooth as a pebble, and strangely, one could feel a life force emanating from the Spear.

Swinging its head from side to side, the Dark Knight seemed to loosen its shoulders like it hadn’t moved in a long time, slowly raised its Spear, and the Black Mist that pervaded the room seemed to receive some command, instantly settling down, in just a few seconds all the dust disappeared, merging into the room and turned it into a corrupted space.

The tip of the Dark Knight’s Spear ignited with a golden flame, dripping onto the pitch-black ground.

Almost instantly, this golden flame transformed into countless golden threads, segmenting the darkness into neat square areas, turning them into tiles stretching from the ground to the ceiling.

Each square area could accommodate only one person.

”Welcome challengers, I am honored to cross blades with you.”

The voice was so mature, graceful, full of mercy and compassion; closing one’s eyes, one could even imagine that the owner of the voice was a handsome man blessed by God.

But the reality was, this voice came from the Dark Knight standing before them.

This Dark Knight was like a conglomeration of many contradictions.

”Come at me. Soon, I will play some games with you, albeit reluctantly, but these games could likely cost you your lives. Please be extra careful.”

Saying this, the Dark Knight swung his Spear, creating a beautiful curve in the darkness.

”Iyas, ’Hunter Mark,’ then ’Gale Point Break.’”

Yang Yu’s voice pulled Iyas back from her fear. She shakily reached for her bow, trying to draw it, but she couldn’t muster any strength to pull.

”I’m sorry... I’m sorry...”

Iyas kept apologizing, unable to draw her bow no matter how many times she tried.

”No need to apologize, what’s important is to adjust your mindset. Breathe deeply, breathe deeply. I know you haven’t seen such a big scene before, but since you’ve chosen this, have no regrets. Don’t forget you have a brother to save.”

Drawing the sword at his waist, Yang Yu showed a slight smile,

”Tell me, do you choose to die helplessly in fear, or do you choose to stand alongside us, grow stronger, and save your brother?”
