Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 131: Chapter 131 But, I Refuse

”A billion?”

Standing next to Yang Yu, Iyas was stunned, she couldn’t earn a hundred Gold Coins even if she washed dishes for four hours, yet Yang Yu had directly asked Mr. Qilom for a billion...

Just by serving some mysterious food from who knows where and having a casual conversation, how could the other party possibly give you a billion just like that?

Iyas looked at Yang Yu’s side profile. Yang Yu’s serious expression didn’t look at all like he was joking.

”Hahaha!” A hearty laughter echoed in the empty restaurant, Mr. Qilom laughed out loud, the air filled with a joyful atmosphere, ”Your story is good, but a billion is too much. At your age, I wouldn’t even dare to think of that number.”

Iyas’s eyebrows slightly raised, for some reason, she felt extremely upset, as if it was not Yang Yu negotiating with Mr. Qilom, but herself.

I knew it, who would just give away a billion so casually. Making money is not that easy. Should have started low, like a few hundred thousand... A few hundred thousand should have been enough. One must have limits even when being greedy.

Yang Yu, unshaken, smiled slightly, ”Then Mr. Qilom, how much are you willing to offer?”

Mr. Qilom thought for a moment and stretched out five fingers, ”At most five million, no more.”

Five million, Iyas stood there stupefied, with an incredibly subtle expression on her face. When she saw Mr. Qilom stretch out five fingers, she initially thought five hundred thousand was already the limit, but who would have thought Mr. Qilom would start at five million. She could no longer understand the lives of the wealthy.

Noticing the change in Iyas’s expression, Yang Yu coughed lightly, and Iyas immediately snapped back to reality, quickly managing her facial expression.

Before entering the restaurant, Yang Yu had specially instructed Iyas, in the restaurant, she should be like a piece of emotionless wood, don’t talk nonsense, don’t move recklessly, try to stay calm, and avoid adding to the chaos.

Still, Iyas was too inexperienced...

Shaking his head secretly, Yang Yu looked apologetic as he turned to Mr. Qilom,

”I apologize. Just now, my companion also thought your offer was too low, which led to that expression.”

Iyas: ...

Yang Yu also stretched out five fingers, and casually said, ”I think, you ought at least offer me fifty million.”

Mr. Qilom couldn’t help laughing, ”Fifty million? You really do treat me as if I run a charity. I absolutely will not give you that much money unless...”

”Unless, I could offer you something else interesting.”

Yang Yu finished Mr. Qilom’s sentence with a smile, took out M-shaped fries and a small packet of ketchup from the System, and stood up to personally hand them to Mr. Qilom,

”This is another kind of food I found in the maze, named fries, also made from Potatoes. The small packet is called ketchup, the outer part is packaging, seems like you tear it open and pour it over before eating. Now, I am giving this to Mr. Qilom.”

Picking up the M-shaped fries, Mr. Qilom examined them. These so-called fries were just ordinary Potatoes cut into strips and fried in oil, nothing special.

What piqued his curiosity, however, was that small packet of ketchup, a material he had never seen before but could easily feel the soft ketchup inside. It was his first time seeing this type of food preservation.

”Unfortunately, I still feel using this as a gift is too modest, and Mr. Qilom certainly wouldn’t want to raise the price. Therefore, I would like to make a deal with Mr. Qilom.”

Sitting back in his original seat, Yang Yu intertwined his fingers and continued:

”My companion and I will continue to explore the Otherworld underground city, and we will surely discover some strange Otherworld foods.

If Mr. Qilom agrees to my terms, I will deliver the products to him firsthand. If Mr. Qilom is not interested, then I won’t take the five million and will try to negotiate with others.”

At this moment, Iyas couldn’t stay calm anymore. They were offering you five million! Even if it’s a bold ask, what if he refuses? We might end up with nothing.

Yang Yu glared at Iyas and said, ”Don’t worry. This is something we obtained through great hardship. I believe Mr. Qilom will surely understand its value.”

”When I was in despair, you gave me such things and told me stories... The substantial reward you received is well-deserved.”

Mr. Qilom’s eyes seemed to pierce through Yang Yu as he stared directly at him,

”But I must refuse. I really cannot give you fifty million; fifty million is just too much.”

Yang Yu remained expressionless and simply stood up again, walking towards Mr. Qilom,

”That’s truly regrettable. Then we can only look forward to cooperating with Mr. Qilom some other time. Please return the item to me, so I can find another buyer.”

Mr. Qilom watched Yang Yu approaching. Even after being rejected, he couldn’t see any wavering on Yang Yu’s face; such composure was unlike what one would expect from someone his age.

This was a game of strategy.

Mr. Qilom knew the game had begun the moment he tasted his first Lao Ganma.

The Yang Yu before him claimed to be an adventurer, but judging by his actions, he was more like a shrewd businessman whose every word and sentence seemed to magically grip others’ heartstrings.

The initial figure wasn’t just thrown out randomly; it was all meant to grab my attention, to initiate a bargaining process for maximizing profit.

Ha-ha-ha, how interesting, how interesting.

It’s been a long time since someone dared to bargain with me. Let’s see if you can accurately guess my psychological expectations.

Mr. Qilom grabbed Yang Yu’s hand reaching for the Lao Ganma, ”Don’t be so hasty. Fifty million is not possible, but lower it a bit, and maybe I can accept.”

Yang Yu slowly withdrew his hand, and Mr. Qilom still did not see any ease on Yang Yu’s face, only a business-like smile.

”I’ve thought about it, and actually, five million is also fine.” Here, Yang Yu shifted his tone, ”But I have one condition. If I can bring back food that allows you to replicate the recipe, I hope to get a small share of the profits from that recipe, not much, just one-thousandth.”

Roar, so he plays this move. I underestimated him.

He voluntarily gave up seeking more profits and jumped straight to my lowest baseline, adding an inconspicuous condition.

At first glance, the condition seems minor, but for humans, food is a basic need. The profits it generates annually are astronomical; just a little recipe capturing a small part of the market could yield immense profits.

But let’s not forget, all this relies on one premise—there must be something that can be called a recipe.

I hardly think the two items in front of me can be classified as recipes.

Unless—he is confident in finding the next underground city and bringing out new Otherworld food.

”Humph, humph, humph, if you really can produce something that can be called a recipe in the future, I’ll agree to your terms.”

”Deal.”

After saying this, Mr. Qilom finally saw Yang Yu’s business-like smile ease up, revealing more the appearance of a young man rather than a cunning businessman.

Damn, I actually thought I was really being rejected.

At that moment, Yang Yu quietly breathed a sigh of relief. Initially, he thought he really had been rejected, which made him incredibly anxious. If he had known earlier, he wouldn’t have started with such a high demand; bargaining like this really wasn’t good for one’s health, not something a few bottles of energy drink could remedy.
