Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

”Please listen to the question. Xiao Ming is a normal person who suddenly jumps out of a 20th-floor window. Why isn’t he hurt?”

”Do you think this question can stump me? Xiao Ming must have used Flying Magic.”

”I said at the very beginning that Xiao Ming is a normal person. Can a normal person just master Flying Magic like that?”

”emmm... There’s a pile of hay under this 20-story building.”

”If Xiao Ming was a hooded assassin who could use a sleeve sword, then maybe. But I told you, Xiao Ming is just a normal person. I’ll give you another chance, if you can’t answer it, I’ll reveal the answer.”

”emmm... I got it, Xiao Ming must have used some kind of Flying Prop.”

”What if Xiao Ming didn’t rely on a Flying Device?”

”Uh...”

”Alright, alright, let me reveal the correct answer. Xiao Ming actually jumped from the 20th-floor window into the room. Surprising, isn’t it? Unexpected, right?”

”This... what kind of answer is that!”

”You agreed to the terms, I told you, it’s an answer that seven or eight-year-old children could figure out. Listen carefully to the next question.”

...

Yang Yu got dead serious as he started throwing tricky questions, while Scarjade racked his brains trying to answer, getting deeply trapped in Yang Yu’s schemes.

Seeing this, Bai Jin and Iyas didn’t know what to say; Yang Yu’s smug expression made it seem like he was the true BOSS of this maze.

”Please listen to the question. Ordinary Xiao Ming and an ordinary cat were happily playing when suddenly he sees the cat getting smaller and smaller. Why?”

”The cat didn’t take any medicine, didn’t use magic, it’s just getting farther and farther from Xiao Ming.” After seven or eight tricky questions, Scarjade finally figured out the trick and answered one correctly, ”This has to be right, right? As a guardian of the maze, my Intelligence isn’t bad. As long as I can grasp the trick in your question, your question can’t stump me.”

”Brilliant.” Yang Yu clapped his hands, ”Congratulations, on the ninth question, you finally got it right. So, according to our agreement, you need to provide me some information I want.”

”Meow?” Scarjade suddenly came back to his senses, he had gotten carried away with Yang Yu’s tricky questions, completely forgetting about this matter.

”You wouldn’t go back on your word, would you?”

Seeing Yang Yu’s pressing gaze, Scarjade wished he could smack Yang Yu dead.

Unfortunately, it couldn’t do that now, as those not affected by the Touch of Death would be defined as an Answerer, and unless the Answerer answered incorrectly, it was not possible for it to strike the Answerer.

Moreover, acting out for this reason would damage its reputation, appearing petty.

So, Scarjade could only grit its teeth and say, ”Ask whatever you want to ask, if I know it, I’ll answer as much as I can.”

”Then thank you.” Yang Yu smiled amicably and raised his first finger, ”First, I want to know who created this maze and what was it made for?”

”Who exactly created this maze, I cannot tell you. As for the purpose of the maze... it was designed for taming, containing many treasures from his lifetime. You should understand the reason it was built, right?”

”I don’t,” Yang Yu said with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, ”Your answer is too ambiguous. If you don’t want to answer, then forget it. I won’t force you, nor will I demand anything from you like some cat in the underground city might.”

Damn, he’s actually mocking me...

Stay calm, stay calm, I must not let anything slip. There are things I absolutely cannot tell him.

Gradually calming down, Scarjade spoke, ”Although I can’t tell you directly who he really is, you will find some clues about his identity if you search through the maze.”

”As I said, we are very weak. At least for now, very weak. Asking us to completely overturn this maze now is asking too much.” Yang Yu waved his hand dismissively, ”Forget it, I’ll change the question. What do you know about ’The Legacy of the Goblin Emperor’?”

”The Goblin Emperor? I’ve never heard of such a name. However, there indeed was a goblin among the Demon King’s Four Heavenly Kings, but he should’ve died on the hero’s journey to defeat the Demon King... Could there be a connection between the two?”

”What a useless fellow. Not a single piece of useful information.”

Yang Yu looked at him with disdain, greatly disappointed, yet he secretly started to ponder.

”This isn’t really my fault; after all, I’ve been guarding this underground city for hundreds of years. Don’t expect me to know what has happened over these centuries...” Scarjade’s face was full of helplessness, it really felt more and more unlike the hidden boss of this maze, ”You should ask about things from my era instead!”

Yang Yu sighed intentionally, ”Then it can’t be helped. Honestly, I’m not interested in the affairs of your time. Let’s talk about something practical.

You should know there’s also a BOSS in this underground maze, right? Do Tamer need to defeat that Maze Guardian to officially clear this underground city?”

Originally, Yang Yu thought that triggering a mechanism and finding the hidden boss to answer its questions would be enough to clear it, but it seemed he had underestimated the challenge.

Scarjade did not deny, ”There are different types of Guardians. I belong to the managers of this maze; I’m basically in charge of operating and adjusting all the mechanisms and monsters, but I’m not responsible for combat. If you want to obtain the truly valuable treasures of this underground city, you must defeat the guardian specifically in charge of combat within this maze.”

”So that’s how it is, that’s how it is. Since we’re at this point, why not introduce me to this underground city’s BOSS!”

After thinking for a while, Scarjade figured that, given Yang Yu’s current strength, reaching the Ninth Floor was impossible anyway, so revealing this seemed harmless. So, it went on.

”This underground maze has a total of ten floors, excluding the Tenth Floor we are currently on, there are nine floors.

Among them, the Third Floor and the Fourth Floor overlap, starting from the Third and Fourth Floors, if you want to completely open the gate leading to the next floor, you must clear all the monsters on the previous floor.

From the Sixth Floor onwards, each floor will add a powerful gatekeeper, and you must defeat the gatekeepers to make your way downwards to the Ninth Floor.

Awaiting on the Ninth Floor is another guardian, a black knight.

To prevent someone from overpowering the guardian mindlessly, the guardian’s strength is tailored based on the power of those who enter the Ninth Floor. Defeating it will not be easy.

In short, this place is called the Palace of Wisdom; to reach here and obtain the key, or to defeat the guardian on the Ninth Floor, a certain degree of Wisdom is necessary.”

”So that’s how it is. I get what you mean, if the opponent is too strong, that BOSS will also become stronger to let the Tamer strategize in the expected manner as they tackle the dungeon.”

”Exactly, more than this, I cannot reveal. Since you have passed my test, I ought to give you the key. Take the key, and you will return to the hidden passage at the entrance of the Third Floor, whether you want to continue taming or leave is up to you.”

Saying this, Scarjade’s eyes emitted a blue light, weaving into an Array in the darkness, and a rustic key appeared within it, slowly drifting towards Yang Yu.
