The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 549: Chapter 549: Still Want to Put Wool Over Nathalie’s Eyes_1

”Just let Jecksen be imprisoned for three to five years; some time inside might do him good to temper his character. Otherwise, given his personality, who knows how many more messes he’ll create! When the old master was still strong, people in Beijing were willing to give us some face. Now, with the old master critically ill and no suitable doctor found to perform the surgery, the Wilmar family is a mess, and Lowie Wilmar is back. If Jecksen causes trouble at this time, it would inevitably provide leverage for your uncle and his family.”

As he spoke, he placed the phone on the bedside table, set his face in a stern expression, and said methodically, ”Once he gets out after mending his ways, he can still inherit the Wilmar family. You can’t expect him to hold up the Wilmar family the way he is now.”

His marriage to Ivy was an arranged union of powerful families, a marriage of strength, and rationally and emotionally, he naturally hoped the future inheritor of the Wilmar estate would be his younger brother-in-law.

In that case, the status of the Sullivan family would rise along with it.

He put his hand on Ivy’s shoulder and patted it, trying to comfort her: ”Don’t think too much about it. Perhaps this outcome is actually a good thing for Jecksen. He is not that young anymore and can’t keep kicking against the iron plate every time...”

He said this, but his heart was annoyed, unable to understand how his utterly inept younger brother-in-law kept courting trouble, especially involving Amadeus Yancey twice in a row.

By seniority, he was a whole generation older than Amadeus Yancey, who should be calling him uncle.

But in reality, who in Beijing didn’t know about Amadeus Yancey, the young man from the Yancey family, who at a young age had extraordinary capabilities and controlled the connections of The Ninth Institute.

At his age, just over twenty-five, not a single person of the older generation from families like his dared to flaunt their seniority in front of Amadeus Yancey.

If it hadn’t been for Amadeus meddling, Jecksen’s issue wouldn’t have been completely without wiggle room!

”...”

Ivy covered her face, still unable to accept the result of Jecksen going away for three to five years. Her eyes were bloodshot, wanting to cry but her pride wouldn’t allow her to show her vulnerability before so many people.

Ghania Quinlan stood by, listening as they spoke, one sentence after another, becoming more confused the more she heard. But she wasn’t a fool—despite Ivy and Myles Sullivan speaking cryptically and omitting much from their words—she understood part of the situation.

Nathalie Quinlan found a protector, and the affair involving Jecksen would come to nothing!

Biting her lip with discontent, Ghania’s bright eyes shimmered as she gently stood beside Ivy and spoke up, ”Didn’t Nathalie... hit someone?”

Indeed, it was Nathalie who had hit her younger brother, yet he was the one to be jailed. It seemed unbelievable that such things could happen in this world!

Ivy’s heart felt as if it had been stabbed, the pain unbearable, as she looked up at Ghania.

Although Ghania was somewhat intimidated by her gaze, the thought of not letting Nathalie off so easily prevailed. She bit her lip, shrank her neck, her heart racing as she said, ”She hit someone, so why should we apologize? Auntie, could there be some mistake?” The Wilmar family was supposed to be formidable; how could they easily let Nathalie off? At the very least, they should make Nathalie suffer some consequences.

Ivy, unable to tell her about the good deeds Jecksen had done, instead seemed to remember something, looking deeply at her, and asked seemingly without thinking, ”Right, Ghania, since you were accepted into Tsinghua University, your mom wants to host a dinner for relatives and friends, right?”

Ghania hadn’t expected the topic to shift from Nathalie to herself. Even though she didn’t understand why Ivy suddenly brought this up, she obediently nodded.

”Hmm, after all, I’ve been admitted to university. My mom wants to celebrate.”
