The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 544: Chapter 544: Why Not Rob a Bank_1

He just couldn’t understand where Nathalie Quinlan got hold of such secret transfer records.

They aren’t easy to find.

If they were, the Wilmar Family would have discovered Jecksen Wilmar’s self-destructive actions long ago and would have cleaned up his mess.

Amadeus Yancey also squinted slightly, glancing over here, but his expression was indifferent, as if it wasn’t surprising to him that Nathalie could get her hands on such things.

He remembered that Nathalie seemed to have a myriad of connections with the Red Alliance, but as for the exact nature of her relationship with them, he hadn’t figured it out yet.

He was aware, but Alfred Garland didn’t know, only that Nathalie was skilled in medicine and that her pills were hard to come by in the Black Market.

Alfred scratched his head and voiced his speculation from the past few days, ”Ms. Quinlan, do you know a hacker who is particularly good with computers?”

Only a hacker could get hold of something like this; ordinary people couldn’t.

His questions were rapid-fire, leaving Nathalie no choice but to answer.

But her face showed no sign of nervousness or panic; she looked rather rogueish and carefree as she said, ”Oh, that. I bought it.”

”Bought it?” Alfred was stunned.

”...” Amadeus also raised an eyebrow.

Alfred immediately followed up with another question: ”Where did you buy it?”

”What, you can buy this kind of thing? Who would have the means to do that?”

Suddenly under the scrutiny of two pairs of eyes, Nathalie remained as composed as ever, not even batting an eyelash. With her crow-black lashes lowered, she took out a bottle of chewing gum from her single shoulder bag and casually tipped a white small pill into her mouth as if it were candy.

She casually replied, ”Red Alliance.”

Alfred watched as she casually popped a small pill, which was currently unattainable on the black market, into her mouth, and his mouth twitched fiercely.

And when he heard her mention the Red Alliance, his mind turned into mush, nearly failing to make the connection.

”Ms. Quinlan, you went to the Red Alliance to buy Jecksen Wilmar’s transfer records?”

Nathalie crunched on a small pill, her face color remaining somewhat pale. With already fair skin, she looked even paler, her lips nearly colorless. She leaned back, clutching her stomach, but since she always appeared so nonchalant, the gesture went largely unnoticed.

”Yes.”

”...Really, the Red Alliance?”

Upon hearing her confirmation, Alfred involuntarily gasped, instinctively glancing at the man in the row behind, and said somewhat gloomily, ”Amadeus, the Red Alliance didn’t take our offer; is it because we didn’t offer enough money?”

Amadeus had also been seeking information from the Red Alliance about a shipment in the Illegal Zone, but they hadn’t taken the job.

They had assumed that the Red Alliance had standards for the jobs they took, perhaps not wanting to wade into murky waters; now it seemed like it was a matter of not offering enough money?

It wasn’t surprising for Alfred that Nathalie knew about the Red Alliance—after all, their reputation was well-known in both lawful and unlawful circles. Since Nathalie could sell small pills in the Black Market, she must know some friends from the Gray Zone with connections. It was typical for her to put out a job Online, but he hadn’t thought the Red Alliance would actually take on such a ’trivial’ task.

After all, engaging the Red Alliance to check on someone like Jecksen Wilmar felt like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

While he was driving, he pondered this, muttering under his breath, ”We offered quite a lot of money already, just to trace a transaction. Eight figures weren’t enough; why don’t they just go rob a bank?”

Leaning back, Nathalie’s mouth twitched slightly, recalling when she had once attempted to procure rare materials for Uncle Cagwin through them, and they had raised the price seven or eight times, almost to nine figures. @ilovebeingskinny seemed to curse just like that.

Why not rob a bank?

Tch.

She almost couldn’t help retorting with the same response Diana and the others had given before—[Robbing a bank isn’t as quick as mugging a boss, and you don’t even have to go to jail.]

In the present context, how fitting!
