The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Nathalie Quinlan Still Expects an Apology_1

How could Nathalie Quinlan possibly score high enough to make it into Class A at No. 1 Middle School?

”What went wrong?” Simon Cadwell didn’t catch that clearly.

Jeff Quinlan came back to his senses, met Simon Cadwell’s curious eyes, and forcibly swallowed back the sentence ’Ghania can only make it to Class B, how could Nathalie’s grades be good enough for Class A.’ He said sulkily, ”No, nothing.”

He remembered the purpose of his visit today, feeling somewhat embarrassed to broach the subject with Simon Cadwell, ”About that, Mr. Cadwell, regarding the matter of Nathalie fighting...”

Simon Cadwell immediately picked up the cue, ”Oh, you mean that incident.”

On his way here, he received no less than 5 phone calls, ranging from his own immediate superiors to Leonardy Zachmann of the Zachmann Family in McKinney, then to the Pinecone Group’s call, even to phone calls from the Wilmar Family, and even people from Beijing were calling him...

Each one was a level he looked up to, frightened to the point that he didn’t dare to continue his meal midway, and hurried over.

Jeff Quinlan looked embarrassed and turned his head to give Nathalie Quinlan a harsh stare, as if blaming her for being disappointing. Turning back, he gave an apologetic smile to Simon Cadwell, saying, ”This child has been disobedient since childhood, nothing like her sister. We just found her biological parents a few days ago, and she hasn’t been back with her biological parents for long. I only just found out the trouble she’s caused.”

”Even though she’s not under my care now, after all, she’s lived with us for over a decade, I can’t just watch her cause trouble outside. What I mean is, Mr. Cadwell, regarding compensation, we will pay whatever amount those people want, and if they require Nathalie to apologize, that’s also fine, as long as it can be settled amicably...”

His eyes and brows held an elite sense of superiority and authority as he spoke, never once asking Nathalie if she agreed, as if he could make the decision himself.

In just a few words, he cleanly detached his relationship with Nathalie, positioning himself as someone honorable and righteous.

Turning his head, he scolded Nathalie, ”Nathalie, later you will obediently go and apologize with me, did you hear me?”

In Nathalie’s eyes lay pitch darkness, brimming with mockery and wildness, as she crisply replied to him, ”I’m not going.”

Jeff Quinlan almost spat fire from his throat, and due to his status, he forcefully suppressed his anger, his face growing darker by the moment, as he gritted his teeth and scolded, ”You’re simply obstinate!”

No wonder people say, ’Like father, like son; like mother, like daughter, the child of a mouse will dig holes!’

Seeing them start to quarrel, Simon Cadwell’s smile faded slightly, and he looked at Jeff Quinlan again with a reassessing gaze, not as warm as before, coldly interrupting him.

”Mr. Quinlan, didn’t you find out what happened today before you came here?”

”This... I heard some...” Jeff Quinlan looked troubled, unwilling to elaborate as if he couldn’t quite say it, ”Anyway, there’s no need to think about it, it must be her who caused trouble.”

Aunt Cagwin had told him on the phone that Nathalie stood up for her snack stall, resulting in someone calling the Police, who came and took the people back to the Police station.

To put it plainly, it was nothing but Nathalie sticking her nose in where it didn’t belong!

What business was it of hers to meddle!

It was just like what Ghania told him the last time, Nathalie knew nothing yet still jumped in to save a drowning child; if it turned out okay, it was fine, but what if the child couldn’t be saved, or if the child died after being rescued, would there be no accountability?

He presumptuously admitted guilt on Nathalie’s behalf, ”Mr. Cadwell, I know she’s caused a lot of trouble by picking fights in public, could you please do me the favor of...”

The Quinlan Family was somewhat well-known in McKinney, and Jeff Quinlan, as a renowned entrepreneur, had no problem making such a request.

However, Simon Cadwell seemed to grow colder as he looked at him, causing Jeff Quinlan to slowly lose his confidence.
