The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Take him to a street food stall_1

Amadeus Yancey, seeing the girl turning her head back by the side of the road, his bloodthirsty eyes clouded with surprise, he stomped out the cigarette in his hand and quickly approached her.

A surprised lift of his eyebrow, he grabbed her left wrist and asked, ”What are you doing here?”

Nathalie Quinlan only saw a tall figure bearing down on her, an overwhelming presence, her wrist being gripped again, her temples throbbing, she suppressed the impulse to struggle and said nonchalantly, ”I heard there’s a good milk tea place nearby, came to buy some.”

”Milk tea?”

”Yeah.”

Amadeus Yancey frowned, he didn’t know if there was a milk tea shop on this street, but there were plenty of bars.

He had just been smoking in the corner, noticing quite a few men looking over to the roadside, commenting on someone’s attractive legs, so he glanced over that way.

And he had seen her standing by the roadside, utterly unaware!

Amadeus Yancey pressed a hand against his forehead, gathering his irritation, and asked in a low voice, ”So did you get it?”

Nathalie spread her hands casually and replied, ”Bought it, the taste was so-so, drank half and tossed the rest in the bin.”

”...”

Amadeus had not interacted with many people her age before, recalling his own 18-year-old self, he seemed not to have had the same wildness around the corners of his eyes and brows.

Just like an untamable wolf!

Her eyes were filled with an uncontrollable wildness and nonchalance.

”Shouldn’t you be in school at this time?”

Nathalie, unfazed as if she wasn’t caught red-handed, fibbed shamelessly, ”The first day of school there are no classes, came out to buy milk tea after school.”

His gaze deep, he released her, his face color easing, ”Haven’t eaten yet? Let’s go, big brother will treat you to a meal.”

Nathalie looked at him with surprise in her eyes, ”Are you really treating me to a meal?”

Amadeus was somewhat amused, his voice seductive as if caressing her ear, ”A meal can’t be fake, can it? If it’s fake, you can treat me as well.”

”Let’s go, my treat. You can eat anything you want.”

Nathalie’s dark eyes seemed to be scrutinizing him, ”Really anything?”

Amadeus hadn’t seriously thought about her treating him. Seeing her slightly upturned eyelashes, long and dense, as if she didn’t trust him, he lifted his thin lips amusedly, ”Yes, anything. Whatever you want to eat, just say it.”

The hint of wildness in Nathalie’s eyes seemed to spread again, she appeared to smile, ”Alright, you said it!”

...

minutes later, Beijing’s Amadeus stood in front of a street food stand by the roadside, unable to move for a long time.

”Here we are.”

Nathalie walked over to the stall owner as if she’d done this many times and greeted her.

”Aunt Cagwin, how’s business today?”

By the roadside, there was just a tricycle, with a few simple wooden boards on it, covered by a clean and tidy floral tablecloth, and on the tablecloth were neatly placed around twenty plastic vegetable baskets, with strings of vegetables and meat neatly arranged in the baskets.

In the innermost part of the tricycle, there was also a pot wafting with a spicy layer of steam, and a woman in her forties was bustling around it.

Seeing Nathalie, the woman was clearly delighted, showing a surprised smile amidst her busy work, and greeted her, ”Nathalie, you’ve come.”

”Yeah, got out of school early, so I swung by to check in,” Nathalie conversed with her as if she were very familiar, speaking with ease.

It was the first time Amadeus saw her so relaxed, his knitted brows smoothing quite a bit.

This was his first venture to a street stand. He wasn’t picky about his surroundings, but the place Nathalie had brought him to still exceeded his expectations.

The intersection was right at a corner of a cross, the pedestrian path paved very spacious, with about thirty tables scattered around the tricycle, not yet seven o’clock, and it was nearly full.

Most were young people, and some were wearing school uniforms, likely students from a nearby school that had just gotten out.
