The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Qiao’s Sister Shows Her Mettle_1

Ghania Quinlan spoke casually, with a voice not quiet at all, ”My sister doesn’t know acupuncture at all... What if it causes a death...”

Zayn Fisher frowned as well. His initial approval of Nathalie Quinlan’s CPR measures turned to utter disgust.

What was Nathalie Quinlan doing!

Quite a few people heard her.

They immediately pointed at Nathalie Quinlan and discussed heatedly.

”How can this young lady act so recklessly?”

”You can’t be careless when trying to save someone. The ambulance is coming soon, someone stop her, what if it costs a life...”

There were many who spoke, yet few who acted.

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t take the people around her seriously at all; she was annoyed and didn’t notice Ghania Quinlan setting the rhythm in the crowd.

She performed acupuncture as if divinely inspired, inserting three needles into the back of the child’s neck.

Upon the insertion of the three needles, the child’s dirty face seemed to turn even redder, as if on the brink of death.

Ghania Quinlan, looking at the person who seemed almost gone, clung to Zayn Fisher’s arm in panic and fear, exclaiming dramatically, ”My sister has gone mad, that child is so young, what is she doing!”

Jane Bailey also chimed in, ”She wants to stand out, but she can’t disregard human life. What if something happens to such a small child?”

”...Zayn.”

This time, Ghania Quinlan’s panic wasn’t feigned. If today, Nathalie Quinlan had been driven out to the countryside with her birth parents, Ghania wouldn’t care even if it caused a scandal in Hillwood County. But Nathalie Quinlan was still in McKinney. If it reached the social news, and online sleuths peeled back the layers to learn she had such a sister—even if not related by blood—it’d bring nothing but trouble for her. She didn’t want to be implicated!

How could Nathalie Quinlan cause such trouble!

The people around her, influenced by her, began to urge and accuse Nathalie Quinlan.

Zayn Fisher’s brows furrowed deeply, his handsome face filled with disapproval. He stepped forward, intending to intervene.

”Nathalie, stop messing around and move away. Let’s wait for the doctors...”

Without looking back, Nathalie Quinlan said icily, ”Can you stop talking so much? It’s annoying!”

”...” Zayn Fisher’s hand froze in mid-air, and now it was awkward whether he retracted it or not, stuck in that position, at a loss for words.

Nathalie Quinlan had never spoken to him with that attitude before.

He was momentarily at a loss about what was wrong with her.

Suddenly, the child lying motionless on the ground started moving as if choking on water, curling up and coughing violently, spitting out the dirty water that was in his belly along with the cough...

”That actually worked!”

”It’s like magic, what this young lady did.”

”Does the girl know medical skills?”

People around who were watching the commotion burst into exclamations of amazement.

Ghania Quinlan, Jane Bailey, and the others were equally stunned, especially Ghania, who widened her eyes, unable to comprehend how Nathalie Quinlan could have such a skill.

But it was the warm-hearted old man who had been watching the entire time who spoke out righteously, ”I say, young lady, if you don’t wish to help save the person, that’s fine, but why are you fanning the flames here? Which school are you students from?”

Jane Bailey argued with embarrassment, ”We can’t swim!”

The old man, displeased, retorted, ”Isn’t your friend here trained in swimming? I didn’t see you saving anyone, just blabbering. My parrot at home talks less than you do!”

Ghania Quinlan, pampered from a young age and always treated gently due to her health, had never heard such harsh words. Everyone spoke softly to her, afraid to scare her. Her face turned ghostly pale, she bit her lip, feeling absolutely aggrieved.

Unfortunately, the old man wasn’t swayed by her act and continued to berate them before finally letting it go.

Before leaving, he didn’t forget to say, ”I don’t know which school the girl who saved him is from, but she’s a good child, brave in saving others, unselfish and undemanding. I must write a letter of commendation to their school!”

Ghania Quinlan’s delicate features flushed red then turned pale, her fingers clenched tight, unable to say a word.

She raised her eyes and saw Zayn Fisher once again captivated by Nathalie Quinlan. She pursed her lips and clutched her chest, whispering softly, ”Zayn, my chest suddenly hurts a lot.”
