The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Studying at McKinney No. 1 Middle School_1

As he was questioning, Mr. Zachmann suddenly paused, about to speak but hesitating, ”Nathalie, I heard you took a year off from school. You’re about to be a senior, right? Have you thought about which high school you want to attend? Do you have any schools you like?”

High school, schools.

Nathalie Quinlan had been casually sipping her soup, but at those words, she lowered her lashes, concealing the color in her eyes.

If Mr. Zachmann hadn’t brought it up, she wouldn’t have even considered going back to school.

To her, high school and college were just diplomas, something she no longer needed.

Yet now, Nathalie pondered for a moment and then looked up, shaking her head, ”I haven’t decided.”

Caryn Zachmann took her hesitation as a sign of poor grades, snickering internally, ”If you can’t get into high school, you can’t get in, and she still hasn’t decided.” Even grandfather, asking her which school she likes!

As if liking it means you could attend?

Amadeus Yancey glanced at the well-behaved girl eating her food, stretched out, and casually said, ”McKinney No. 1 Middle School is not bad.”

”McKinney No. 1 Middle School?” Mr. Zachmann’s original intention was to take Nathalie back to Beijing for her studies. At that comment, he was momentarily stunned, but then he remembered Nathalie’s other identity, Amadeus Yancey’s fiancée! Beijing is crowded, and if Nathalie openly returned to Beijing, he might not be able to protect her, so after a brief consideration he agreed, ”McKinney No. 1 Middle School is indeed good, the teaching quality is alright. Nathalie, what do you think?”

McKinney No. 1 Middle School?

Nathalie pursed her lips, not really wanting to stay in McKinney.

But when she met Mr. Zachmann’s expectant gaze, for some reason, she nodded as if possessed, ”It doesn’t matter to me, I don’t mind.”

”Then it’ll be McKinney No. 1 Middle School.”

Mr. Zachmann was convalescing in Beijing, and Stanley was also working there. If Nathalie wanted to stay in McKinney, they would have to ask the people from Room Two to take care of her.

He looked around at Caryn and the others, frowning, ”Your second brother has a house in McKinney. For the last year of high school, besides the school, you can temporarily stay with him.”

With these words, the faces of the family from Room Two, except for Audrick Zachmann, turned rather unsightly.

Audrick had a separate house outside, but what did Mr. Zachmann mean by so blatantly arranging for her to stay outside? Was he guarding against them?

Caryn, young as she was, immediately pouted, showing her dissatisfaction.

Leonardy Zachmann was slightly embarrassed but otherwise fine. Celine Tucker, elegantly seated, dabbed her mouth, seemingly indifferent to such matters.

Amadeus Yancey, with leisurely composure, casually remarked, ”I will also stay in McKinney for a while, I can help look after her.”

Nathalie suddenly looked up toward him, her gaze colliding squarely with his.

That look...

She almost choked on the soup in her throat and quickly averted her gaze.

...

In the outer compartment.

Ghania Quinlan and Jeff Quinlan were distracted during their meal, reflecting on their earlier encounter with Nathalie Quinlan, their minds drifting off mid-conversation several times.

Fortunately, due to Cindy Lawrence’s solid relationship with Adelia Tucker, they finally confirmed that she could enroll in National Artists University after her college entrance exam.

Relief tempered Ghania’s torment a bit.

At the end of the meal, the guests were all reveling in joy.

Cindy Lawrence and Jeff Quinlan, along with Mrs. Fisher, were to see Adelia Tucker and her daughter off, with Ghania following behind.

After leaving Waterfront Pavilion, Zayn Fisher noticed her pale complexion and preoccupied demeanor, and quietly asked her, ”What’s wrong?”

Seeing his resolute eyes, Ghania bit her lip, shook her head, and weakly replied, ”Nothing much, just a bit of a headache.”
