The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Asking Jeff Quinlan to Get Someone out of the Police Station_1

In the Quinlan Family villa at the Rose Garden.

Jeff Quinlan had just gotten home when he received a phone call from Aunt Cagwin, and with irritation, he yanked off his tie and handed it to Emilia Sullivan, who was holding his clothes. He said, ”Wait a second, Aunt Cagwin is calling me.”

Emilia Sullivan asked in surprise, ”Why is she calling you?”

”I don’t know.”

The arrogance and haughtiness of the Quinlan family seemed to be etched into their bones, and Emilia Sullivan immediately frowned, saying somewhat unwillingly, ”She’d better not be asking to borrow money. I’ve heard her family’s having a tough time, her husband got a weird disease and has been in the hospital for over a year without getting better...”

By blood, Aunt Cagwin was related to his domineering mother-in-law. Aunt Cagwin’s mother and his mother-in-law were cousins, and later, one married a local small businessman while the other married a poor guy.

Later on, Cindy Lawrence followed her husband to develop their life in McKinney, whereas Aunt Cagwin’s family stayed in their hometown. After that, Aunt Cagwin had a child and needed extra hands around the house.

Cindy Lawrence didn’t want to help look after the child, so she brought over her own niece.

That was Aunt Cagwin.

Initially, Aunt Cagwin was a big help, but then she noticed Aunt Cagwin favored Nathalie Quinlan over Ghania Quinlan, often secretly buying sweets for Nathalie or taking her to her place to play while being more indifferent to Ghania, which led her to find an excuse to dismiss Aunt Cagwin.

After all, Nathalie wasn’t her own flesh and blood, but Ghania was her precious darling.

Jeff Quinlan picked up his phone, saying, ”She’s never asked Mom to borrow money before, it wouldn’t make sense for her to borrow money now. She probably needs something else; let me take the call.”

Emilia Sullivan helped him put his clothes away, making sure to add, ”If it’s about borrowing money, don’t lend too much, ten or twenty thousand is enough, don’t give more. With their situation, lending them money would be like throwing meat buns to dogs, never to be seen again! Our family isn’t a charity, and we have a lot of these distant poor relatives. Once you start lending, they’ll all start coming to borrow...”

Aunt Cagwin was after all a relative of his family, and though Jeff Quinlan was annoyed by Emilia Sullivan’s veiled disdain for his relatives back home, he felt the same way in his heart.

Ten or twenty thousand was bearable, like charity, but no more.

He held the phone to his ear and answered the call.

”Hello.”

Two minutes later, he hung up the phone with a gloomy expression.

He said to Emilia Sullivan, ”Give me my clothes quickly.”

Emilia Sullivan, in a daze and puzzled, asked, ”What’s the matter? You just got back, and now you’re going out again?”

Jeff Quinlan’s face was extremely somber as he said harshly, ”Nathalie got into a fight on the street and was taken away by the police. Aunt Cagwin called to ask me to bail her out at the police station!”

Talking about it made him seethe with anger.

Both were raising daughters.

Even though Nathalie wasn’t their own child, she grew up in their family. They say dragons beget dragons and phoenixes beget phoenixes; even if she was a mouse, she should have learned some manners by living in their house all this time!

And now, just a few days after reconnecting with her biological family, she lands herself in the police station!

He really shouldn’t have allowed her to continue her studies in McKinney.

Whenever trouble arose, it was him who had to clean up the mess.

When Emilia Sullivan heard it was about Nathalie’s issue, her expression soured, and she was reluctant to hand over the clothes, ”Didn’t she find her own biological parents and grandparents? Why is she still calling you?”

Jeff Quinlan, puffing with anger, replied irately, ”I don’t know. They’re strangers in town; they can’t get her out of the police station. We’re about to finalize our cooperation with Pinecone Group, and even if Nathalie isn’t part of our family, she lived with us. Right now, any bad news can affect us.”

Emilia Sullivan’s expression grew even more disdainful, ”Just like her mother said, she can’t be shaken off.”

Jeff Quinlan snatched the clothes from her hands, irritably saying, ”Anyway, I’ll go take a look first.”
