The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Didn’t You Call Me Brother?_1

”Moreover, if you transfer to a senior year like at No. 1 Middle School, no matter whether you pull strings or not, there’s an entrance exam to place you in a class. Nathalie just got placed in Class B, and with your grades, you wouldn’t make it into their Class A. Rather than ending up in a lower class like Class S, it might be better to switch to a different school. There’s no need to force yourself into a different circle...”

Nathalie listened patiently until he finished, ”Are you done? Who told you I could only make it to Class S?”

”You think you can actually get into Class A?!” Jeff Quinlan didn’t believe it and couldn’t maintain his face, ”Nathalie, I’m doing this for your own good!”

”You’re doing it for Ghania’s good, right?” Nathalie’s eyes were cold, ”Did Ghania tell you she didn’t want to be at the same school as me?”

”Ghania never told me that.”

In fact, Ghania had delicately suggested that she didn’t want Nathalie to attend McKinney No. 1 Middle School.

Nathalie unceremoniously exposed his feigned concern, speaking directly, ”I’m not switching schools. If Ghania truly doesn’t want to be at the same school as me, then you can ask her to transfer.”

”Nathalie!” Seeing that she wouldn’t obey, Jeff Quinlan scolded her, furious and embarrassed, ”Your sister is unwell, she’s finally gotten used to the school environment, what are you even saying...”

”The plain truth.”

Nathalie completely ignored his anger, ”After all, she’s been recommended to National Artists University, her college entrance exam grades don’t matter. The boarding facilities at the elite school are excellent, perfect for her. If she wants to attend, let her. As for me... please, don’t trouble yourself!”

The phone kept ringing incessantly. Nathalie, not wanting to argue any further, walked past him, ”I have something to do, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving first.”

Jeff Quinlan’s face turned green with anger as he watched her figure disappear in the first floor lobby, and from a distance, he saw a man seemingly coming down to meet her at the corner of the corridor.

Now, Jeff Quinlan’s face looked even worse.

But holding onto his dignity, he couldn’t chase after Nathalie to argue in public. He walked away for the moment, internally calculating when to find another opportunity to have a proper talk with Nathalie.

When he left, he ran into Audrick Zachmann. Audrick’s appearance was outstanding, and Jeff Quinlan couldn’t help but take a second glance, wondering.

He seemed to recall seeing that face on tv, some celebrity it seems, quite famous!

What was a star doing at McKinney City Hospital?

Could it be that they were filming something nearby?

...

At the stairway entrance.

Amadeus Yancey had visited the ward to check on Edric Yancey, who was out of danger but still unconscious. Having called Nathalie for a long time without her coming up, he had to come down to look for her himself.

His gaze landed on the soaking wet, disheveled girl.

”Why aren’t you answering your phone?”

Nathalie, not wishing to disclose her encounter with the Quinlan family, casually replied, ”My phone is on silent, I didn’t see it.”

Amadeus Yancey noticed her phone still vibrating in her hand, silently hung up the call, and did not expose her insincere lie.

He reached out to pull her, ”Let’s go, Grandpa Zachmann and the rest are waiting for you upstairs.”

Nathalie subtly dodged his hand, looking annoyed.

It must have been Audrick who called for them!

She just broke some skin on her neck, it wasn’t necessary to make such a fuss!

Just as she was about to go upstairs, she was suddenly cornered against a wall.

Amadeus Yancey, tall and imposing, cast a shadow over her like a mountain, shrouding her beneath it.

The sense of dominance and pressure involuntarily made Nathalie’s skin crawl.

”Aren’t you calling me ’Brother’?

That voice, so sensual and enticing!

Damnit!

What was he even saying!

Nathalie looked up in confusion, only to meet a pair of vast, profound eyes. The deep black eyes, rimmed with a bloodthirsty fierceness, seemed to be attempting to draw her in as they watched her.

”Brother will take you up.”

Amadeus Yancey assertively took her hand, his lips curled in a teasing, almost mocking smile, brazen and roguish, deviating from the norm, seemingly not allowing her to break free, his hand completely enveloping hers.

He reined in his commanding presence, then returned to his indifferent demeanor, as if nothing mattered to him, ”Let’s go.”
