The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: The Child is Related to Amadeus Yancey_1

Jane Bailey, who was closer to Ghania Quinlan, nudged her with her elbow, her eyes brimming with envy, and whispered her compliments, ”Ghania, you’re so lucky to have a boyfriend as handsome as Zayn.”

Zayn Fisher was their McKinney No. 1 Middle School’s idol. That year, he was accepted into the Finance Department of Tsinghua University with a stellar science total score of 678 points. It was said that at Tsinghua, he was also a campus hottie of high caliber.

It was one thing to have good grades, but the key point was that Zayn’s family was wealthy and he was tall and handsome. Which girl wouldn’t be envious?

Ghania Quinlan’s cheeks flushed with a shy pink as she gently pushed her, ”Jane, don’t talk nonsense.”

At that moment, another classmate who had come with them couldn’t help but say, ”Ghania, your sister won’t be in any trouble for jumping down, right?”

Zayn Fisher had always been a favored child, growing up surrounded by praise, so he didn’t take the compliments about Ghania to heart. He smiled in self-possession, but upon hearing this, he asked in confusion, ”Who jumped down?”

Only then did he notice that a crowd had gathered at the bridge’s edge, cheering on someone below, with none paying attention to their group.

Ghania was annoyed by the classmate’s blabbering, unlike Jane who was more perceptive. While pulling at his sleeve and biting her lip, she said, ”My sister, she jumped down.”

”I was saying I’d go down to rescue, but I’m just an average swimmer... and the doctor said I shouldn’t get cold, so I thought of making a phone call to you. I didn’t expect my sister to jump down to rescue...”

Zayn Fisher paused for a moment.

”You’re saying Nathalie Quinlan jumped down to rescue someone?”

Ghania nodded her head, speaking as if it were an offhand remark, ”I’ve never heard before that she could swim...”

The water below was so turbulent; if a wave hit, she wouldn’t have to see Nathalie at school anymore!

...

On the shore, Nathalie Quinlan struggled to drag the unconscious child onto the bank, then propped herself up to climb out. Seeing the child’s face swollen and purple, still unconscious, she knew he had swallowed a lot of water. She didn’t care about her own disheveled state, quickly propped herself up, and began emergency first aid.

”The person’s been rescued!”

The onlookers on the bridge cheered when they saw Nathalie pull the person to safety, and they all started moving in that direction.

From a distance, Zayn Fisher saw the activity. He turned his head and asked in a low voice, ”Shall we go take a look?”

Ghania, not wanting the two to interact yet unwilling to show her pettiness, reluctantly gave her consent with a noise of agreement and said ’kindly,’ ”I don’t know how my sister is doing. Zayn, let’s go over and see, maybe I can be of help...”

Not far away, within the traffic control area, a Phaeton car sped through the fallen leaves towards them.

”Amadeus, Mr. Yancey called. He’s asking why his grandson didn’t answer his video call.”

The Yancey family’s youngest little master was the apple of everyone’s eye; Amadeus doted on his little nephew to an enormous extent. If it weren’t for the sake of getting the child medical treatment, Mr. Yancey would have never wanted the boy to leave Beijing. Yet, in the blink of an eye, the boy had gotten lost under their care...

The temperature inside the car was very low.

Amadeus Yancey’s face was rigid with tension, having not closed his eyes for three days. At that moment, his beautiful eyes were suffused with blood, and even the Buddhist beads on his right wrist could barely suppress the sanguinary air about him.

Tell him Edric Yancey is having a nap, call back later,” he said.

”Alright, Amadeus.”

Just then, his ear microphone buzzed.

Amadeus Yancey had one hand on the steering wheel and with the other, he answered the phone, ”Hello, have you found the exact location of the person?”

”Found it.” Audrick Zachmann also knew how important Edric Yancey was to the Yancey family, so he hesitated on how to break the news: ”Amadeus, I’m going to be honest with you, don’t get agitated.”

Amadeus’s eyes darkened with a bloody hue while his lips held an icy tone, ”Speak!”
