Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 789: Chapter 234 Changing Ways of Thinking_3

Bai Quan walked into the laboratory without saying a word.

The security guards at the entrance, upon seeing the stars on Bai Quan’s chest and the group of people in Fourteenth Legion uniforms following him, dared not offer any resistance, hurriedly notifying the person in charge.

And just after notifying the person in charge, Bai Quan took control of everyone in the laboratory.

Bai Quan did not say anything, merely waited.

It was only a few minutes later that the person in charge hurriedly arrived and nodded and bowed towards Bai Quan standing in the central hall of the laboratory, saying, ”Is it Vice Admiral Bai Quan? Your presence is a great honor, this is...”

Bai Quan’s cold gaze swept over the person in charge, and in their fearful expression, he said, ”A few months ago, I approved the closure of a batch of laboratories involved in the illegal sale of drugs; this laboratory was on the list.”

”Ah?”

Cold sweat broke out on the person’s forehead; instinctively, he pulled out a tissue from his pocket, trembling as he wiped it, weakly explaining, ”I didn’t know about this. When I arrived, I saw the laboratory had research licenses and production permits.”

”Where?”

”Shall I take you to see them?”

”Let’s go.”

The person in charge quickly led Bai Quan to an office in the laboratory, and from a locked counter, he took out two somewhat substantial papers and handed them to Bai Quan.

”Drug research license and drug production permit, please take a look.”

Bai Quan reached out to take them.

Upon reading the licenses, the joints of Bai Quan’s hand holding them turned a little pale due to exerting too much force, as if trying to restrain the urge to smash his fist on the counter in front of him.

These two licenses appeared completely in order, and the stamp on them was approval from the Fourteenth Legion.

Bai Quan could even, by looking up the license numbers, find the corresponding license document in the Fourteenth Legion’s database.

Bai Quan slowly turned his head and spoke to a subordinate following him, ”Check who approved this application.”

”Yes.”

The subordinate promptly passed Bai Quan information about a person and the record of the production permit’s approval.

It turned out that the person who approved this laboratory was someone recently transferred.

”Where is he?”

”Missing, went missing during the transfer.”

The subordinate lowered his head as he reported to Bai Quan, not daring to lift his gaze to meet Bai Quan’s face.

Because if one were to discuss the primary source of trouble for reopening this drug testing lab, it could even be said it stemmed from Bai Quan himself.

This was a framed accusation; the other side was even trying to shift Zuo Jing’s trouble onto him.

The expression on Bai Quan’s face suddenly returned to calmness.

Time and again and again, do they really think people have no temper?

Up front, Lou Wei suspected Chen Ming of cheating and insisted on forcibly verifying.

This issue hadn’t ended, and immediately another event was surfacing.

He hadn’t ascended the political ranks through examinations and advanced step by step to his current position; he fought from the bloodiest and most dangerous battlefields to be appointed Major General by his old superior.

It seems someone has forgotten this.

At this moment, Bai Quan discarded all those ”gentle ways of doing things and attitudes” he had adopted while seated in his current position over the period.

Really, someone is being overly presumptuous, huh?

Bai Quan calmly placed the arrest warrant directly on the table and issued the arrest command.

Though the laboratory had already been approved, evidence of illegal drug sales was present, closing the laboratory once more wouldn’t be a big deal.

Even if someone might exploit the situation of a laboratory being shut down twice to accuse him of malfeasance or bribery, Bai Quan no longer cared.

Recent words spoken by Chen Ming were hovering in Bai Quan’s mind as he left the laboratory in silence and boarded the spaceship, isolating himself in a cabin.

He began issuing orders to trusted contacts in crucial positions.

However, just before taking any real action,

his private terminal unexpectedly rang.

Bai Quan picked up the terminal, and upon seeing the communication code, the expression on his face softened somewhat, then he connected the video call from headquarters.

Appearing on the terminal was the entirely white-bearded Vice Admiral Bai Quan had discussed Chen Ming’s issues with; his gaze carried a hint of disappointment.

”What do you intend to do? What is your current status? Can you afford to do such irresponsible things?”

”I...”

”Think carefully, do what you ought to do.”

Bai Quan remained silent and speechless, the frustration on his face becoming increasingly pronounced.

The old superior stared at Bai Quan for a long time, his eyes carrying a touch of reluctance; ultimately, he chose to offer a few more words.

”Consider how others would act in your position, don’t think about what you would do.”

”You are not a politician; you are a soldier.”

”But you know many people; someone must know what should be done.”

”Don’t ask them, you have to think, figure it out yourself, and then you will know what truly needs to be done.”

After finishing, the old superior gave Bai Quan one last look and hung up the communication.

Leaving Bai Quan alone in the room, clutching his head.

”How can I figure it out, how can I outthink them?”

The Fourteenth Legion, although restructured twenty-some years ago,

but now, which of his old superior’s peers hasn’t spent decades maneuvering in the political arena?

He was merely someone who had transferred mid-way from the army, his methods were far too immature compared to them.
