Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 786: Chapter 233 Zuo Jing’s Malice_4

”Doesn’t your company earn quite a bit? You’re considered to be working abroad, right? Where’s the money?”

The security officer still kept his head down and said, ”It’s not enough. My mom needs surgery, which requires a lot of money. I’ve been trying to borrow from others, but the gap is too big. The hospital is pressing me hard, and I have no way out.”

”Then he came to me, asking me to deliberately make a mistake when the spaceship hits the dome tomorrow, and hide underground with him.”

”I agreed, but I plan to take the Zuo Jing people with me to die outside.”

The security officer looked up as he spoke, his eyes a bit dim but filled with sincerity.

”I’ve bought a life insurance policy for myself, and Mr. Chen Ming, you can check this.”

”As long as I die, my mom can use the three million from Zuo Jing and the seven hundred thousand from the insurance to have the surgery, and also repay the money I borrowed from the bank during this period.”

”I’ve already found a place where Zuo Jing hasn’t appeared for more than ten years. As long as my mom can hide there with the money for a few years, Zuo Jing won’t find them.”

Chen Ming frowned slightly and picked up the terminal to check the background of the security officer based on his identity.

Although he is currently under a military system, some parts of the military system are connected to the police system.

Even though it’s somewhat against regulations, Chen Ming still directly used this authority to trace the security officer’s identity all the way through.

Then, he saw news that left him momentarily stunned and unable to react.

Chen Ming frowned deeply, and after a few minutes, he suddenly cast a sympathetic gaze towards the security officer and asked, ”How long has it been since you last went home?”

”About six or seven years, my mom, wife, and younger brother are being taken care of at home.”

”Hmm... there’s some bad news.”

”Your mom passed away about three years ago due to complications from a cold.”

The security officer froze in place for a second, suddenly struggled desperately against the metal liquid restraints on his body, and shouted at Chen Ming, ”What did you say?”

His struggle was clearly in vain, but Chen Ming still brought up the terminal record and put the screen in front of the security officer.

”Look for yourself, it’s an autopsy report. You should understand it since you’re in security, right?”

”The report shows the cause of death was a basic cold, but due to long-term lack of treatment, her poor health eventually led to her death.”

”Impossible... impossible...”

The security officer’s voice trembled a bit, but the photo of the corpse was indeed his mother’s.

He repeated ”impossible” over and over, his pounding heart gradually sinking, and tears began to well up in the corners of his eyes.

”It’s impossible, my mom is very open-minded, she would tell me immediately if anything important happened, ”

”And she didn’t have any source of income, the money all depended on what I sent her, she kept track of every cent she spent of mine, saying she owed me.”

”If she caught a cold, she would definitely go to the hospital first thing, and she would definitely tell me if she spent money, there’s no way she died of illness... impossible...”

”Impossible... this is absolutely impossible...”

Chen Ming pushed the security officer who couldn’t accept reality and said, ”Then you have to ask your brother and your wife what they were doing.”

”Why were you still able to contact her three years after your mom had died? Someone was deceiving you.”

”According to my investigation... maybe what I’m going to say might sound harsh, but your mom’s body was not taken to the hospital by your brother and wife.”

”It was discovered by your neighbor. Otherwise, why would there be this autopsy report?”

”And I’m suddenly wondering why your mom didn’t even treat a cold?”

”With today’s medical technology, even if you lie down to go to the hospital, you can walk back.”

”Even if your mom wanted to save you some money and treated it slowly, the cost of medicine for a cold is only about ten bucks, probably less than a meal.”

”You earn thirty thousand a month, right? You send back twenty thousand every month, why didn’t she get treated?”

”The autopsy report shows your mother had no leg injuries or mobility issues, nor any previous conditions like Alzheimer’s, so someone must have restricted her.”

The security officer followed Chen Ming’s suspicion and thought of his wife and brother, but he didn’t dare to speak.

But Chen Ming was thinking not only about these two people.

”If the old lady were alive, it would be more convenient to get more money from you, a cold is simply impossible not to treat.”

”Unless... Zuo Jing.”

Chen Ming suddenly kicked the cleaner who was still staring at him with hateful eyes nearby.

”Zuo Jing extremely resents modern technology, if your brother and wife believed in Zuo Jing, everything would make sense.”

”How do you think Zuo Jing knew you needed money?”

”I just checked your financial transactions, you only borrowed money from a bank, and it’s a bank from your hometown.”

”You were obviously worried this matter would be found out by your colleagues, so you never mentioned it to any outsiders, yet Zuo Jing found out.”

”And coincidentally, in these few days, that fabricated hospital said your mom urgently needed a large surgery fee, doesn’t this seem too coincidental.”

”And another thing I need to tell you, your brother and wife are currently considered missing persons, so do you think they joined Zuo Jing, or is Zuo Jing speaking through them?”

Tears streamed down the security officer’s bitter face, but he suddenly laughed, ”Ha... hahaha... Zuo Jing... I really am a damn joke.”

”I should... this life of mine is over... mom...”

Chen Ming released his restraints, but he suddenly collapsed to the ground, curling up on the floor, crying helplessly and silently.

The security officer looked to be in his forties, and this scene made Chen Ming feel a bit heartbroken, just raising his head to not look at him.

However, Chen Ming suddenly took a deep breath and said to the dozens of people silently observing around him, ”Let me say something first, many of you working in this place aren’t short of money.”

”But if you really encounter any unforeseen events... come find me, I have the ability and connections.”

”As long as it’s a reasonable matter, I can help you solve it.”

”I don’t want to see this kind of thing happen again.”

”Alright, let’s all disperse.”

”Don’t disturb those who need to handle this matter later on.”

As Chen Ming finished speaking, he saw the Legion’s spaceship about to land outside the dome.
