Chapter 759: Chapter 226 Dramatic Change in the Situation_4

He knew that the rebel army wouldn’t succeed so easily, even with the support of the government army and backing of public opinion, it wouldn’t be as effortless to keep up with their already developed pace.

”So while it seems like a feasible plan, if we know the specifics, it wouldn’t be that feasible after all.”

”Manipulating public opinion properly while we hold the initial advantage should suffice.”

”Moreover, the demise of the government army is insufficient to prove that the new rebels are capable of governing this Star Realm. It definitely requires intervention from a higher official authority.”

”We can publicly express to the new rebels that we are willing to maintain a month of peace, allowing time to test.”

”But I can confirm that the government army absolutely will not coexist peacefully with us, and there’s certainly more to their methods than that.”

Chen Ming suddenly had an idea and said, ”Do you remember that missing main ship? Could they possibly use that thing to do something?”

”The weapons and shield system of that main ship have already been damaged, even giving the opposite side another month would still not be enough to repair it, likely ruling it out.”

”Still, consider the other methods they might use and prepare in advance.”

Time passed day by day.

Chen Ming continued collaborating with Hong Guanghong to expand the colony, ensuring basic industry.

Song Pu kept a close watch on the overall situation, arranging various tactics against the new rebels.

Meanwhile, Cheng Xinghe was still eliminating remnants of the government army, attempting to control more star systems in preparation for possible attacks by the new rebels and the impending encirclement a month later.

During this process,

the development momentum of the newly emerged rebel army was startlingly rapid.

In just a few days, they swiftly expanded from a corner of Galor-2, occupying more than half of Galor-2 at a speed no one had anticipated.

The new rebels continued to advance towards Galor-1, with their expansion speed becoming increasingly exaggerated.

Meanwhile, with the remnants of the government army continually operating near the borders of Galor-1, Galor-2, and Galor-3/4, they kept disrupting Cheng Xinghe’s tasks.

As a result, the expansion speed of the old rebels had fallen behind over these days.

Not just slightly behind, but significantly so.

Of course, everyone on Chen Ming’s side knew that the new rebels had traces of the original government army, so their fast development was normal, but their speed was a bit exaggerated.

Moreover, for reasons unknown, in the public opinion across the Star Realm, there seemed to be a trend of comparing the new rebels with the old rebels.

The comparison was not direct, but the strange aspect was that the achievements of the new rebels seemed to be attributed to the old rebels, as if stepping on the old rebels to rise.

This trend was clearly incorrect.

However, the public opinion didn’t directly demean the old rebels; instead, it indirectly placed the new rebels in a higher position.

Recently, Song Pu could only use his own propaganda to try to suppress this trend, but the effect seemed rather ineffective.

The entire Star Realm’s public opinion favored the new rebels, which was very strange.

Song Pu, while once chatting with Chen Ming, expressed frustration, saying that the spies he planted in the new rebels could barely obtain any information.

It seemed that those originally from the government army, after defecting, became like different people, suddenly gaining a belief for the people, making it remarkably difficult to infiltrate compared to their own rebel soldiers.

The limited intelligence gathered by the spies seemed to indicate that besides the unstoppable expansion of the new rebels, their efficiency in various industrial productions was also extremely exaggerated, at least more than when the government army controlled the star systems.

It was as if their logistics and engineers could crush Hong Guanghong and Dong Miao.

Furthermore, Song Pu’s assassination plan could not be effectively implemented, after all, the government army had already collapsed when the assassination plan was still being laid out; several main targets were legally dead, their real whereabouts long unknown.

The only lead, Di Jia, was constantly roaming throughout the four star zones, relying on plunder and some unknown sources of funding to incessantly harass Cheng Xinghe’s fleet.

This constant presence within the fleet made it impossible to assassinate him.

Though for the old rebels, the overall situation remained stable and positive.

But witnessing the overwhelming rise of the neighboring new rebels added a few more pressures to the hearts of Chen Ming’s team.

And those few rivals that Song Pu had been preoccupied with, belonging to the government army...

... were now sitting openly in the office at the rebels’ headquarters.

At the time of the government army’s downfall, they had undergone top-notch medical cosmetic surgery of the era, making it impossible for anyone to recognize their original identities unless capable of obtaining a sample for genetic comparison.

Usually, doing so in simulation would be somewhat disgraceful, but losing visibly was obviously more humiliating.

And at this moment, in the office of their chief commander, the chief was looking at a terminal where one of his teammates asked him, ”How is the situation?”

The chief commander’s expression was tense, and after flicking ashes into an ashtray filled with cigarette butts, he said, ”Good, inexplicably good.”

”What do you mean?”

”Just inexplicably.”

The chief commander’s expression was somewhat inexplicably uncomfortable, continuing to type on the terminal, ”This was a plan we made in absolute desperation, it logically shouldn’t proceed so smoothly without us striving desperately to achieve it.”
