Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 768: Chapter 229 Interruption_2

Even if the most advanced technology available at the simulated time point is only technology from five years ago, according to Bai Quan, it’s already from the previous generation or even two generations past, but it’s already sufficient for Chen Ming now.

”Besides, you’ve seen what I’ve been doing these days; simulation allows for some research.”

Just as Chen Ming finished speaking, Cheng Xinghai quickly asked a question that’s been on her mind: ”But I remember you saying that your spiritual energy doesn’t work on a microscopic level, right? Can you still research new things?”

”Simulation is quite unique, though the microscopic level is restricted, the simulation of spiritual energy is not yet complete.”

”But as long as it’s not microscopic or spiritual energy-related areas, everything can be said to perfectly align with reality.”

”And you must know one thing, that many, from all aspects, almost all industries and types of technical experiments are first simulated through computers before being moved into reality.”

”The simulation equipment just takes the simulation process from the computer and puts it here, turning the pile of data inside the computer needing professional analysis into visible scenes and... a pile of data needing analysis.”

Chen Ming suddenly felt like he was telling a lame joke, quickly skipping that part, saying: ”Anyway, research in simulation and in reality from the process are pretty much the same, both are simulated experiments, there’s no problem, since in reality it still needs a serious experiment once more.”

”A minute in reality equals sixty seconds passing, while two days in simulation equals an hour in reality. Not making full use of simulation for more experiments would be a huge loss.”

”No wonder you’re glued to the research center every day without a hint of movement.”

Cheng Xinghai muttered softly, then asked Chen Ming: ”So what are you researching lately?”

”Stuff from the Mechanical Race.”

”What stuff?”

”Useful stuff.”

Cheng Xinghai clicked her tongue, somewhat displeased: ”But I see you also drop by the biological research institute next door every now and then.”

”That’s just another thing.”

”Tell me about it.”

Chen Ming rejected the idea: ”You won’t understand anyway.”

”But I can understand biological stuff.”

Cheng Xinghai suddenly thought of something, saying: ”Last time when Uncle Bai got promoted to Vice Admiral, Uncle Wu An helped you send Uncle Bai a gift, it was called the Energy Crystal Crab, right?”

”I wanted to ask Uncle Bai for one as a pet later on, but unfortunately Uncle Bai wouldn’t give it, and he started telling me a ton of stuff that just gave me a headache.”

”You’re probably researching that, right?”

”Uh...”

Chen Ming hesitated slightly.

His current research in biological technology is still at a relatively beginner level, but the deep research involves several technologies related to the Insect Race.

So his frequent visits to the biological research institute are mainly to fill in gaps in other technical areas, as some technologies aren’t easy to obtain in reality.

Cheng Xinghai obviously noticed his actions, but her thoughts clearly went in a different direction.

Chen Ming would like to play along, but lying doesn’t seem to benefit him much.

Who knows, someone might watch the recordings later and figure out what he’s researching, so lying here is completely unnecessary.

But he also can’t just straightforwardly tell the truth.

So Chen Ming considered it and said: ”No, it’s simply because I want to learn these things, so I went to the neighboring lab.”

”My Dusk, although capable of researching biological and cultivating Energy Crystal Crabs, merely cultivation isn’t enough. How to increase the production of energy crystals requires mastering other technologies, and I need to get my hands on them.”

”Also, I find these things quite interesting myself, and just focusing on the Mechanical Race is tiring, so I might as well take the chance to research other stuff and switch things up a bit.”

”It’s almost the same thing anyway.”

Cheng Xinghai said as if she completely understood: ”I also understand what exactly you’re trying to do.”

Chen Ming turned his head from the computer screen and asked Cheng Xinghai: ”Can you help me with something?”

After nearly a month of interaction, Cheng Xinghai and Chen Ming can be considered acquaintances, so she didn’t have the intention to refuse.

”I can help, but don’t you need to deal with what’s going on outside?”

Chen Ming understood that Cheng Xinghai was referring to dealing with the Rebel Army that still needs leadership, as well as handling the aftermath of the new Rebel Army and the remnants of the Government Army.

If Chen Ming spends all his time in the research center, no one will take care of these tasks.

But for Chen Ming, since Dusk has already arrived, and there are even Alpha-level Dusks coming, he doesn’t need to busy himself personally at all.

”I only need to give out orders, the rest of Dusk will help me get it done.”

Chen Ming even felt that even if he completely ignored it and let these four Star Zones run free for a week, nothing much would likely happen.

At first, Cheng Xinghai didn’t quite get it, but Chen Ming already had plans, so naturally, there was nothing more to say.

Thinking it over, it seemed like there wasn’t much else to do, so she simply picked up the terminal again and started playing a game.

Seeing Cheng Xinghai looking bored, Chen Ming thought for a moment and said: ”Do you need me to let you loose? There should be plenty of places to go in the simulation.”

But this time, Cheng Xinghai had no such idea and refused: ”Forget it, at this point, I can’t do anything else, I might as well play my game.”
