Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 349: Chapter 131: Supreme Point, Peering_2

”It was just that he wanted to test the spaceship, insisting on conducting the tests in the Edge Star Realm, otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so troublesome.”

The boss recalled the situation before and said, ”Actually, when he requested this some time ago, I originally thought of arranging someone else to handle it, considering your previous situation was a bit inconvenient.”

”But when you said your situation was okay, I took on this request myself.”

”Now that you’re bringing this up, there’s no issue giving you the ship, right?”

Chen Ming was undoubtedly very eager to do this.

Helping to record various data from the spaceship’s practical application could get him a cruiser as a reward; such a deal was too worthwhile.

By the time he leaves the Dusk Star Realm, he can directly pilot this Supreme Point to explore suitable colonization star systems.

Since it’s the Spiritual Ability Association wanting to test the spaceship, the logistics and supplies from the boss’s side would certainly be fully taken care of, without Chen Ming needing to bear the material needs of a cruiser.

Moreover, if such a ship is designed by members of the Association and manufactured by the Association, then it would certainly not appear in any public accounts.

The current situation of Chen Ming playing dead would probably not arouse any suspicion.

However, the boss mentioning these things now made Chen Ming unable to resist asking, ”Boss, about the Spiritual Ability Association?”

”It’s just a loose force among psychics to help each other out, pretty much like an ordinary small circle.”

A small circle of psychics surely bears no ordinary relation.

The boss understood Chen Ming’s intention and said, ”You want to ask me why I didn’t mention it to you or invite you to join, right?”

”Yes.”

”I prefer not to directly interfere with your development unless you request it yourself.”

”Moreover, in my view, joining the Association holds no real benefits for you at the moment, because you currently lack resources that can be mobilized within the Empire, and those from Dusk don’t count.”

”You’ve spent too little time in the empire, hardly having time to develop.”

”And the mutual help within the Spiritual Ability Association requires fundamental capital, just like that newcomer who uses his designed spaceship as his capital.”

”But the technology in spaceship design alone is insufficient to be counted as capital, which is why he thinks of validating the spaceship to give the technology practical application value.”

”So, unless you can quickly turn the technology you acquired from Dusk into valuable products, there’s actually not much use.”

Chen Ming was stunned for a moment, his gaze drifting over to the [Manufacturing] function on his panel.

This seemed to be a way to quickly realize technological value.

However, the boss continued, ”By the way, the psychic who interrupted me from rescuing you earlier was also from the Spiritual Ability Association.”

Chen Ming immediately stopped contemplating joining the Spiritual Ability Association, furrowing his brow, asking, ”There’s more to this?”

”Yes, so if you don’t want to attract attention too early, it’s best to stay away from the Association.”

”You certainly don’t want to expose your situation right now, otherwise you should have directly found a way to connect with the Fourteenth Legion to hold them accountable.”

”Instead of quietly having Old Lu send me a terminal.”

Chen Ming’s primary goal was not to settle in the extremely dangerous to him Prosperous Star Realm within the empire for that psychic.

Instead, it was the Fourteenth Legion located in the Edge Star Realm, along with the high-levels of the battle zone formed by several Edge Star Realms nearby.

Joining the Spiritual Ability Association now would surely attract the people he doesn’t want to encounter at the moment.

Thus, Chen Ming chose to accept the boss’s advice, explaining, ”That’s right, I feel that hiding now is the most helpful for what I need to do afterward.”

”While alive, I might not get the Fourteenth Legion’s explanation and instead face their retaliation, but if I’m considered dead, I’ll surely gain more opportunities.”

”Whether it’s the chance to survive or an opportunity to settle the score.”

The boss nodded, saying, ”Indeed, although the situation with the Fourteenth Legion is a bit complex, do you want to hear about it?”

”I won’t interfere with your decision, I just think you should decide under the premise of having more intelligence.”

”Alright.”

The boss recollected slightly and said, ”Bai Quan was severely injured and fell into a coma during the previous inspection unexpectedly, and the task was taken over by a second generation equipped with a decently capable subordinate.”

Right off, it was a shocking news of the United Fleet’s commander getting replaced in the middle of a mission.

Chen Ming immediately asked, ”Was Bai Quan’s injury an accident or...”

”They claim it was an accident, but I heard over twenty people within the Fourteenth Legion got stripped of their hats, and they were all pretty high positions.”

”Then it wasn’t an accident.”

These two sentences were enough for Chen Ming to fill in the remaining story in his mind.

”I guess the force behind this second generation intended to get him some merits, so they took advantage of Bai Quan once and then had their capable subordinate help him finish this mission.”

Chen Ming suddenly exhaled, asking, ”Could such dirty dealings happen within the currently strongest independent legion of the Empire, the Fourteenth Legion?”

”Hmm... let’s put it this way.”

”This second generation is not from within the Fourteenth Legion; he’s a second generation from a prominent family within the empire, mixing in the Fourteenth Legion to gain prestige.”

”Promotions within the Fourteenth Legion purely depend on merits, this is a fundamental established after their reorganization, and it will never change.”

”But when it comes to executing tasks, as long as the people at the top have no issues and the ones below perform well, then those at the top can share a part of the achievements, which is a fixed part of the military command system and unchangeable.”
