Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 306: Chapter 121: Accident? Transformation?

After the offline joint conference concluded.

The attendees quickly exited the conference room.

Only Bai Quan remained in the room to organize the current intelligence landscape.

After reviewing the plans again and confirming there were no overlooked points, he left the conference room with the documents.

Bai Quan will be the fleet commander of the United Fleet, so his schedule will be tight afterward.

He needs to manage his time effectively to complete some other tasks.

For instance, what he is about to do is inspect the docks meant to house the incoming main ships.

The current base of the Fourteenth Legion was directly acquired from the Star Zone Military.

Although the Star Zone Military doesn’t have any main ships available, there is still a dock designated for main ship-level vessels, located on the orbital track.

However, it hasn’t been used in many years, so after its reactivation, the entire dock’s maintenance and renovation work must be ensured.

When Bai Quan first took over here, he had already started to have professionals manage this aspect.

However, due to the enormous workload, the process hasn’t been completed even today.

Thus, he must personally inspect it.

To avoid discovering there is no place for the three incoming main ships to dock.

After arranging nearby matters, Bai Quan boarded an advance-prepared high-speed escort ship with his guard, ascended, and flew out from the base under the dome’s protection.

Heading towards the orbital track around this volcanic planet beneath their feet.

Heading towards the gigantic space structure located on the orbital track.

This gigantic space structure nearly matches the scale of a normal Space Station, with the size difference to a Pirate Space Station being within a quarter.

But it is not a Pirate Space Station possessing thirty different specialized functional space arms and an entire complete city.

This space structure is merely a dock.

Its purpose is to accommodate the main ship bodies that exceed ten thousand meters in length.

Meanwhile, the gigantic dock is equipped with some fixed artillery and other defense measures, also serving as a planetary defense line below.

The Star Zone Military previously maintained only the parts capable of combat, while the main ship dock remained mostly in a semi-abandoned state.

Otherwise, the Fourteenth Legion wouldn’t have needed such a long time for dock maintenance upon taking it over.

This clearly shows the extent of the previous Star Zone Military’s decline.

When those on the Frigate could see the gigantic dock with the naked eye.

Bai Quan lifted his head from the document on his terminal in hand.

Now, besides seeing the appearance of the entire gigantic dock, he could also see a large number of engineering ships scattered around the dock’s exterior.

The laser for structure detection and the sparks from the plate joining continued to appear outside the dock.

The maintenance and renovation of the gigantic dock continued.

Bai Quan glanced twice, then instructed the guard piloting to steer the Frigate straight into the dock through an entrance meant for medium-to-small vessels.

The originally necessary multiple checkpoints for ship inspection gave Bai Quan passage all the way, allowing him quickly to reach the innermost part of the gigantic dock.

Where the dock’s internal staff work and live daily.

After being greeted by the dock maintenance person in charge, Bai Quan exchanged greetings and borrowed a Destroyer Level engineering ship.

Continuing to let one of his guards handle the piloting, while he sat in the co-pilot’s position.

Bai Quan rode the engineering ship to the empty berth within the dock designated for use by the main ships.

Here, too, numerous engineering ships were at work.

They ranged in size from the smallest Shuttle Boat to Cruiser Level engineering ships.

Responsible for different tasks according to their size and installed equipment.

Besides repairing the walls adjacent to the ship berths, these internal engineering ships also needed to repair the vast range of ship maintenance equipment hidden within the dock walls, occupying most areas.

Although the main ships’ sizes inherently demand self-maintenance capabilities, these maintenance devices are necessary for their external armor and some other components.

While Bai Quan is not a professional Maintenance Master, his years in the military have provided a basic understanding of ship maintenance equipment.

He could tell the maintenance progress inside the dock was nearing the final stages.

It essentially assured completion before the subsequent few main ships arrive.

Seeing the reassuring situation, Bai Quan continued letting the guard pilot the engineering ship for a round of inspection inside and planned to check outside for areas he hadn’t seen when entering.

Just then, an unexpected surge of electrical sparks erupted from a spot dense with devices and circuits directly above Bai Quan’s engineering ship.

Several nearby engineering ships quickly pulled away, while a deluge of firefighting foam was splashed directly.

Promptly controlling the situation.

An unexpected incident was unavoidable after a long period of lack of maintenance.

Since Bai Quan had just seen the other places’ maintenance nearly wrapped up, this area should be promptly addressed despite the unexpected incident.

Bai Quan didn’t remain further, instructing the guard piloting, ”Avoid that; let’s continue.”
