Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 328: Chapter 126: Dusk’s Concession, Dusk’s Scheme, Dusk’s... Surrender

It was unexpected for Chen Ming that Brilliant, who hadn’t been seen for a while, suddenly appeared here.

It seemed to have avoided the attack the Fourteenth Legion launched toward the star system where it previously stayed.

This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing for Chen Ming, especially since his interactions with Brilliant had been relatively normal and comfortable.

So he didn’t directly vent the emotions he had accumulated onto it but instead asked seriously, ”Brilliant, what brings you to me?”

Brilliant was quite surprised that Chen Ming could directly distinguish between different Dusk entities behind the same voice, but it didn’t dwell on it and said truthfully, ”I have a new mission to discuss with you.”

”Oh?”

G3, which had clashed with Chen Ming just a few hours earlier, was gone, and Brilliant, with whom he had had a good relationship, arrived earlier.

Chen Ming knew very well what mission Brilliant was talking about, but he still deliberately asked, ”What mission?”

”To calm.”

Chen Ming sneered, pointing to the still-running Spirit Awakening Nerve Extractor, which likely would not run to completion smoothly, and the shackles on him, asking back, ”Is this what calming me looks like?”

Just as he finished speaking, the equipment beneath him voluntarily ceased operation, and all the shackles holding Chen Ming were unlocked.

As the Spiritual Energy Fluctuation of the equipment gradually subsided, Chen Ming suddenly realized that the sense of danger the Spirit Awakening Nerve Extractor gave him had already completely disappeared.

Maybe Chen Ming had already controlled the device, or perhaps the real source of the danger was that Enlightenment Nerve.

But now none of this mattered anymore, as Chen Ming couldn’t let Dusk use this device on him a second time.

Chen Ming rubbed his wrists and stood up from the equipment, asking Brilliant, ”You guys aren’t taking me for a fool, are you?”

”No, you undoubtedly have reasons to suspect we just want to buy time and then perform some extreme tests on you again.”

Chen Ming patted the extractor beside him and said, ”But I think this is not an experiment; it’s something even more dangerous.”

”Unless you can tell me what that thing that drilled into my brain and didn’t kill me is exactly, maybe I could change my view?”

Chen Ming’s words made Brilliant fall silent.

Apparently, it didn’t have a reasonable explanation for what required medication through the eye socket to contact a person’s brain.

And the plan above clearly didn’t allow it to reveal the actual situation.

Brilliant was utterly troubled at this moment.

Previously, it had explicitly opposed the proposal to extract spiritual energy from Chen Ming.

But its opinion wasn’t adopted, and it was even kicked out of the mission at the final stage.

However, now, after the plan failed, it was needed to return to help calm Chen Ming.

Even if the unexpected in the plan had been greater, it wouldn’t have had to talk with Chen Ming but instead just clean things up.

It understood the fear of the Dusk group towards Chen Ming’s abilities and their desire to control this power.

But it couldn’t comprehend how such a risk-ignorant and consequence-disregarding decision was made.

In the end, it was supposed to clean up a mess it had already been kicked out from.

But Brilliant could only think, as practically all it could do after a long silence was to utter four words.

”I’m very sorry.”

Chen Ming felt awkward hearing Brilliant’s apology, feeling as if the apology shouldn’t have come from Brilliant.

At that moment, a thought of the unusual behaviors Brilliant had seemingly exhibited recently flashed in his mind.

After some silent thinking, Chen Ming made a decision.

He heaved a long sigh and said, ”Let’s start with a lighter topic. Honestly, my opinion of you is quite positive.”

”If it wasn’t for you, I couldn’t have a decent conversation with the Dusk who wants to eliminate me.”

”But if we continue with this topic, you and I might have nothing to talk about.”

”Sure.”

Brilliant agreed decisively and asked, ”Where should we start then?”

”Let’s start with, was this mission to calm me something you volunteered for?”

Brilliant answered decisively once more, ”No.”

”Oh? So it was a task forcibly assigned to you?”

”Yes.”

”That’s quite unexpected.”

It seemed Dusk didn’t have adequate plans to handle all possible situations.

So much so that they ultimately chose the familiar individual Brilliant to execute such an implausible operation as ’calming.’

It was unclear what they were thinking; perhaps they intended only to use Brilliant’s presence to buy time with Chen Ming?

As Chen Ming contemplated Dusk’s intentions in silence for half a minute, Brilliant suddenly initiated a conversation, asking, ”Can I ask you some questions?”

”Sure, but wait until I finish asking mine.”

Chen Ming’s words seemed quite unreasonable.

But now, Dusk obviously didn’t have the capacity to restart the Enlightenment Nerve extraction.

So, with their interest in Chen Ming’s spiritual energy and not wanting to harm him immediately,

Chen Ming’s attempt to test the limits was not a big deal at all.

However, he didn’t continue on these subjects and instead brought up a past issue: ”What were you doing after I left?”
