Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 316: Chapter 123: A Bad Choice_2

But right now, the Legion Level is doing something very strange, which is that its shield is oriented towards the rear when deployed.

And that’s not all.

At this moment, the shield resonance frequency of several Main Ships of the Fourteenth Legion is surprisingly consistent with the shield resonance frequency of all ships in the entire fleet.

So much so that now, there is even a visibly special shield, like a phantom, covering all ships below the Main Ship level, protecting them within.

The phantom shield, although forming a sphere that envelops all directions around the spaceship.

If you look closely, you will find on the shield sphere protecting the spaceship.

The rear hemisphere is purely the same red as the Legion Level shield.

However, in the front hemisphere, besides maintaining the same fiery red as the Offensive Level, it also flickers with blue ripples similar to the Radiation Level’s blue shield.

It’s as if this layer of phantom shield covering the entire fleet is maintained by several Main Ships.

And in fact, this is the case.

The reason why such a situation occurs is due to the Main Ship itself.

When there are Main Ship level vessels participating in a battlefield, the entire battle mode will inevitably change.

The weapons of the Main Level on a Main Ship are devastating to any ship below the Main Ship.

Even for a Cruiser, even the special Ruler Level heavy cruiser of the Fourteenth Legion, which once forced the Original Star Zone Military to surrender with a single ship.

The outcome is the same in the face of any Main Ship’s Main Level weapons.

However, although the Main Level weapons of a Main Ship have terrifying destructive power, the hull and weapons of the Main Ship remain of normal construction.

This means that as long as the attack power is sufficient, lower-level ships can also pose a threat.

The large weapons on a Cruiser are about the minimum threshold capable of damaging a Main Ship.

Therefore, winning a battle involving Main Ship level vessels doesn’t just rely on the Main Ships themselves; the fleet accompanying them is equally crucial.

Protect these lower-level ships so they can survive in battle and rely on their threatening weapons against the Main Ship to assist our side’s Main Ship in applying additional pressure on the opposing Main Ship.

And the cooperative shield, resulting from the resonance at specific frequencies of the Main Ship level shield and ordinary ship shields, is the best protection method.

The cooperative shield will always maintain a phantom-like presence under normal circumstances.

It only solidifies when the protected ship is attacked by a certain level or higher, that is, attacked by a Main Level weapon, to directly take on the assault.

It does not block attacks below a specific energy level.

The purpose of this design is quite simple.

After all, the cooperative shield is essentially a means for the Main Ship to help other ships withstand the enemy’s Main Ship damage.

So if it were really affected by attacks from low-level ships, then this shield itself would serve no purpose.

On the contrary, it would be more convenient for the enemy, allowing more enemies to attack our Main Ship’s shield.

And now the Legion’s shield is aimed at the rear, providing rear protection to all ships across the battle line.

The main reason is to guard against the Main Ship attacks from Dusk.

As for why there is still a need to be cautious of the rear when the line has been drawn, there are two reasons. One is the possibility of Dusk’s follow-up support launching a rear attack.

The other is that Dusk’s Flashing Engine exists even on their Main Ships.

The presence of the Flashing Engine forces the United Fleet to be on guard.

At this moment, in the command room of the Legion Level.

The temporary fleet commander replacing Bai Quan, Tang Shi, is here.

Tang Shi appears to be in his thirties, approaching forty, currently looking at the complex data panel in front of him, listening to the reports constantly echoing in his ears.

His hands are somewhat stiff as he continuously clicks on the control panel, simultaneously issuing commands.

Sweat beads are slightly trickling down his forehead, making him look extremely tense.

Just at this moment.

The side door of the command room opened, and his deputy, Zhang Feng, returned to the command room.

Tang Shi suddenly looked as though he saw a savior, and his tension was immediately relieved.

Zhang Feng naturally came to his side, helping to analyze intelligence, assisting in making decisions, and clarifying the somewhat chaotic battlefield situation.

But that’s just on the surface, the fact is, all major decisions are actually made by Zhang Feng, the deputy.

Although Tang Shi and Zhang Feng are nominally the commander and the deputy, in reality, their roles are reversed.

The reason is simple; Zhang Feng is placed in this position by someone.

So even though he is now doing his work well, his mind is filled with various negative thoughts.

He has the capability to command an entire United Fleet but can only act as a deputy now, a so-called advisory team.

Covering for someone who became Major General through connections, thus unable to command respect, but there is no better person who can.

He even needs to take the opportunity to develop Tang Shi’s on-the-spot adaptability and enhance his command skills as required from above in such a scenario.

And although there isn’t a lack of opposition within the Legion, these opposing opinions were soon suppressed, and those who had opinions never voiced them again.
