After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 543: Chapter 547: Clues and Traces [2]

Leng Lin was holding a newspaper as he came down the stairs and, hearing the conversation among the three in the living room, he stopped in his tracks and stood at the corner of the staircase, listening quietly.

He couldn’t help but smile as he listened to the bickering between his two sons.

It had been a long while since the house was this lively.

Leng Zirui, munching on an apple, glanced in the direction of the stairs, ”Alright, stop eavesdropping. You’re almost a grandfather, yet still playing these childish games!”

”Brat, who’s eavesdropping!” Leng Lin retorted as his smile vanished, and he descended the stairs, ”This is my house; I’ll stand wherever I want!”

”Uncle Leng.” Luo Xiaoqian noticed him and hurriedly stood up to greet him.

Leng Lin gestured with his hand for her to sit down, his tone much gentler compared to how he addressed Leng Zirui, ”We’re all family here; no need to be so formal.”

”Okay.” Luo Xiaoqian smiled and sat back down, ”Why don’t you come and sit too?”

Leng Lin walked over and took a seat on another armchair. Luo Xiaoqian then picked up an apple.

Leng Zimo, who was already equipped with a fruit knife, took the apple from her hand, deftly peeled it, and handed it to her.

Luo Xiaoqian chuckled, ”This was meant for Uncle Leng to eat. Since you helped me peel it, you might as well pass it to Uncle Leng.”

Leng Zimo set down the fruit knife and placed the apple on an empty fruit plate in front of Leng Lin.

Glancing at his profile and then at the neatly peeled apple in the plate, Leng Lin, who wasn’t usually keen on fruit, still stretched out his hand and took the apple.

”Thank you.”

After expressing his thanks, he took a small bite of the apple.

Juice spilled over, filling his mouth with sweetness.

”Dad, who’s this ’thank you’ for? Is it for my sister-in-law, or for my brother?” Leng Zirui asked deliberately.

”Is silence going to kill you!”

The same voice, the same tone, almost simultaneously came from both Leng Zimo and Leng Lin.

Leng Zirui laughed secretly, but put on a wronged face, ”Sis-in-law, they are both picking on me; help me defeat them!”

Luo Xiaoqian laughed softly, ”I think you’d better talk less.”

Leng Zirui raised his hand to his forehead, ”It’s all over, finally another person joins us, but you’re their ally. The Zirui team really has no good days ahead.”

”If you’ve got the guts, go find your own ally to bring back!” Leng Lin said as he ate the apple, teasing.

”Not in the mood to deal with you. Your eldest son is your flesh and blood; I must have been picked up from a trash can!” Leng Zirui stood up and walked into the kitchen, ”Aunt Su, let’s see what delicious food you’re making tonight?”

Luo Xiaoqian also rose to her feet, ”I’ll go help Aunt Su. Zimo, have a chat with Uncle Leng.”

Both of them went into the kitchen one after the other, leaving behind two quiet men who were not fond of talking.

Two men just as proud as each other, neither initiating conversation; in the living room, the only sound was the crisp bite of Leng Lin eating his apple.

Leng Lin put down the apple, about to speak, when Leng Zimo, sitting on the couch, already stood up.

Watching him walk around the couch, a touch of helpless sorrow rose on Leng Lin’s face.

Was this child still unwilling to forgive him?

Leng Lin hung his head, placed the half-eaten apple back onto the fruit plate, and slumped back against the sofa, lifting the newspaper he had been reading.

Footsteps approached.

He looked down in confusion, peering under the newspaper to see Leng Zimo’s feet clad in leather shoes, followed by a soft sound, like a cup being set down on the coffee table.
