After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 519: Chapter 522 The Whereabouts of That Person [8]

Riverside Fragrant Mansion.

The guest room on the second floor of the villa.

Restlessly, Luo Xiaoqian slept, murmuring indistinct words, her delicate brows tightly furrowed.

Noting the glistening tears at the corner of her eyes, Jiao Yang sighed, put the cigarette he had been toying with between his fingers to his lips, and carefully picked up a tissue, intending to wipe her sweat.

”Zimo...”

Before he could touch her, Luo Xiaoqian suddenly opened her eyes.

Jiao Yang withdrew his hand with the tissue, ”Had a nightmare?”

Luo Xiaoqian’s gaze was somewhat hazy as she looked at him. After a moment, she came to her senses, ”You... why haven’t you gone to sleep?”

Jiao Yang removed the cigarette from his lips and smiled faintly, ”How can I sleep when there’s a beautiful woman in the house? So, while you were sleeping, I came over to admire the sleeping beauty.”

”Sorry for disturbing your rest,” Luo Xiaoqian sat up a bit, managing a pale smile with great effort, ”I’m fine, you should go to sleep.”

”You don’t think I’ve been here taking care of you all afternoon, do you?” Jiao Yang said with a smile as he handed her the cup from the table, ”Wishful thinking, I’ll have you know, it’s always women taking care of me. Taking care of a woman is not in Young Master Jiao’s nature.”

Luo Xiaoqian took the cup from him and took a sip to moisten her lips.

The water in the cup had a faint scent of pear.

Her eyes caught sight of the used cotton swabs in the ashtray on the table, and she felt a stir of emotion.

In truth, she hadn’t been sleeping deeply.

Her throat hurt continuously, and in her dreams, she vaguely felt occasional sips of cool water soothing her parched lips, with a subtle fragrance of pears. She thought she was feverish and delirious.

Now it seemed, it was not a dream.

”You added pear juice?”

”You don’t like it?” Jiao Yang frowned slightly, ”I thought it might be good for your throat. Should I go get you a different drink?”

”No need,” Luo Xiaoqian gripped the cup tightly, ”It’s quite tasty.”

”How do you feel now? Does your head still hurt? Are there any other discomforts? Like chest pain or tightness?”

Since he had compromised and not taken her to the hospital, he was continuously worried about a possible lung infection.

Luo Xiaoqian shook her head gently, ”Much better now. It’s getting late, you should go to sleep as well.”

”What are you talking about? It’s barely nine o’clock, for goodness’ sake. If it were the old me, my day would just be starting.” Jiao Yang raised his palm and gently placed it on her forehead. Feeling a slightly damp coolness, he was somewhat relieved, ”Alright, to celebrate someone’s fever breaking, Young Master Jiao has decided to cook a sumptuous dinner personally. Two options for you: one, plain boiled instant noodles; two, instant noodles boiled in water. Please choose!”

Luo Xiaoqian didn’t smile, ”I’m really not hungry.”

Jiao Yang lamented in an almost chantlike tone, ”Please, Luo Xiaoqian, can’t you show a little humanity? You’re a Fairy who doesn’t need earthly food, but I’m a mortal who needs to eat. Can’t you just play along?”

Luo Xiaoqian grabbed the blanket, ”What do you have at home? I’ll cook.”

”You should just stay put. It will be ready in a moment,” Jiao Yang pressed her back onto the pillow, ”Can’t you give me a chance to practice taking care of a woman? That way, when I really want to take care of someone in the future, I’ll have some experience, right?”

Not giving her a chance to respond, Jiao Yang turned and walked out the door.

Having lain in bed all day, Luo Xiaoqian couldn’t possibly stay there any longer. She stepped down and slipped into the slippers he had prepared for her, then walked into the bathroom to wash her face, looking at her reflection with its scabbed wound and unkempt hair, she just shook her head lightly.
