After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 518: Chapter 521 The Whereabouts of That Person [7]

On the table, Leng Zimo’s phone suddenly started ringing.

Before the three people could move to answer it, Leng Zimo, who was on the pillow, shot up to a sitting position.

”Phone, where’s my phone...” he mumbled.

”See, the medicine for your phone works!” Leng Zirui reached out, delivering the phone into his hands.

Leng Zimo answered without even looking at the caller ID.

On the line was the voice of Detective Old Zhao, ”Is this Mr. Leng? We have found a female body in the Jingmi Canal that connects to the river, and we would like you to...”

”That’s not Xiao Qian!” Leng Zimo interrupted angrily, hurling the phone away, ”Nonsense! Xiao Qian can’t be dead...”

He looked at the people beside the bed, then swung off the covers and got up barefoot, yanking out the IV needle, and headed for the door.

”Where are you going?” Leng Lin demanded sternly.

”Xiao Qian is waiting for me; I’m going to find her,” Leng Zimo said without looking back.

”Stay right there!” Leng Lin shouted, furious.

But Leng Zimo ignored him and reached for the door handle.

Before Leng Lin could speak again, Leng Zirui charged forward, striking Leng Zimo’s neck with a chop of his hand. Already weak, Leng Zimo had no defense against it and collapsed backward.

Catching the falling Leng Zimo, Leng Zirui tossed him back onto the pillow and lazily motioned to Shen Yizhou, ”Give him a sedative!”

Without any hesitation, Shen Yizhou took the medicine from the medical kit and injected it straight into the muscle of Leng Zimo’s upper arm.

Bending over to pick up Leng Zimo’s phone from the floor, Leng Lin was stopped as Leng Zirui stepped forward, snatching the phone from his hand and holding it to his ear, ”This is Leng Zirui, who’s speaking?”

Old Zhao was still on the line, not daring to hang up. Hearing him, he immediately responded, ”Greetings, Young Master Leng. This is Old Zhao from headquarters!”

”What were you telling my brother?” Leng Zirui asked bluntly.

”We have found a female body in the Jingmi Canal that communicates with the river Luo Xiaoqian jumped into. We wished for Mr. Leng to make an identification.”

”Is there a key hanging around the body’s neck?” Leng Zirui inquired.

”Um... hold on a moment...” Old Zhao checked with someone else, ”There’s a thin necklace, no key.”

”No need to confirm then, it’s not her!” Leng Zirui sighed in relief, ”Is there any other discovery?”

”Not at the moment. My people are still searching. The police dogs and all have arrived.”

”What’s the use of police dogs with such heavy rain flushing away any scent!” Leng Zirui cursed into the phone, ”You and your men can call it quits. The Eagle Falcon Squad will take over from here. Tell your people to keep their mouths shut. If this causes any adverse effects on the Leng Family, you might as well prepare your resignation letter!”

After hanging up the phone, Leng Zirui glanced at his father, whose face showed displeasure, and rolled his eyes at him.

”Alright, just go to sleep. Before dawn tomorrow, I’ll make sure you know whether she’s dead or alive,” he then turned to Shen Yizhou and let out a slow sigh, ”Brother Yizhou, I’m entrusting my brother to you.”

Shen Yizhou nodded at him, ”Don’t worry. Go do what you need to, and keep me informed if anything comes up.”

Leng Zirui agreed and hurried downstairs. Moments later, the SUV parked downstairs was already speeding out of the gate.

After pulling the thin blanket over Leng Zimo, Shen Yizhou glanced at Leng Lin standing by the bedside and carried a chair over for him, ”Weren’t these two as close as anyone could be? What on earth happened?”

Sitting down in the chair, Leng Lin let out a deep sigh, ”This matter is all my fault.”
