After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 509: Chapter 512 Fearful, You Say Goodbye to Me [3]

He felt heartbroken, but what was even stronger was anger.

Even though he didn’t know what had happened, the injuries on her body and her current state clearly indicated that something serious must have occurred.

He had to ask that bastard Leng Zimo, how could he let his woman end up like this?

”No!” Hearing him mention the name of Leng Zimo, Luo Xiaoqian hastily stretched out her hand and grabbed his arm, ”Please don’t call him, I’m begging you!”

Leng Zimo had said that it was because of ”that woman” that he had broken ties with his father, and as a result, he had not even seen his mother for the last time.

Luo Xiaoqian was well aware of how important his deceased mother was to him, and ”that woman” was her own mother.

She was the daughter of his ”enemy,” the woman he hated the most; just thinking about this fact made her chest feel so tight she could hardly breathe.

Now, she didn’t want to see him, she dared not see him.

She was truly afraid, afraid of his indifference and avoidance, afraid of him saying goodbye to her.

Feeling the strength of her fingers on his arm, Jiao Yang turned back around and scrutinized her expression.

”Is it related to him?”

His tone was laced with barely concealed anger.

”It’s not his fault, not his!” Luo Xiaoqian withdrew her arm, her voice hoarse, ”Jiao Yang, I need some time to think, can you leave me alone for a while, please?”

Jiao Yang watched her for a long time, ultimately compromising again, ”I’ll help you up to the guest room upstairs, where you can rest for a bit.”

Luo Xiaoqian nodded, and he settled her arm, supporting her to the guest room upstairs, then went to get a set of his own sportswear to give to her, ”Change out of your dirty clothes, and have a good sleep.”

”I’m going to take a shower,” Luo Xiaoqian said as she took the clothes.

”Straight to bed!” He extended his arm to stop her, ”The wounds on your body should not be exposed to water for now.”

”But I’m too dirty,” Luo Xiaoqian said, looking down at her grubby calves.

With everything going on, she was still worried about dirtying his bed.

Seeing her like that, Jiao Yang’s heart crumpled.

”Luo Xiaoqian, do you consider me a friend at all?” he roared uncontrollably, and then regretted it, pulling her to the bed to lie down; he reached for a thin quilt to cover her, ”I’m sorry, I... I shouldn’t have shouted at you. You have a fever right now and are injured; it’s not suitable for you to get wet. Just lie down, and I’ll bring you some medicine in a bit.”

”Thank you,” she said, her voice hoarse with gratitude.

The doorbell rang, and Jiao Yang turned and rushed downstairs to take the items ordered to be delivered by his assistant, ”I won’t be able to go to the company today. Handle any matters first, and call me if there’s an emergency!”

After the assistant left with an acknowledgment, he brought everything upstairs to the guest room.

Carefully opening the box containing breakfast, he placed the steaming hot porridge on the table, and with a smile toward Luo Xiaoqian, he said, ”Hungry, right? Come on, have some food.”

Luo Xiaoqian turned her face away, looking at the porridge in his hands. Her gaze fell on the medicine on the table and the clothes packaged in paper bags beside it, and she couldn’t help but think of Leng Zimo.

Everything was so familiar.

She remembered that time at EM when she had a fever; he had also prepared warm porridge, medicine, and clothes for her just like this.

Her heart ached once more.

There would never be times like that again, would there?

”I’m not hungry,” she said softly.
