After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 541: Chapter 545 Father and Son [5]

Luo Xiaoqian stuck out her tongue and made a face at him, her cheeks inevitably turning red.

Soon, the car entered the city’s main police department.

The two of them got out of the car together and were greeted by Old Zhao at the entrance; he led them to his office.

”Director Xu has given me full authority to handle this matter,” said Old Zhao, as he ushered them to the table and poured each of them a glass of water. Once he had taken a seat back in his chair, he started inquiring about the details of the incident from Luo Xiaoqian, taking notes as she spoke.

”Have any discoveries been made now?” Leng Zimo waited until he finished his questions before he asked.

Old Zhao gently shook his head, ”All the evidence has been thoroughly examined. On that check, we only found Lu Hao’s fingerprints; the person who wrote the check was very cautious and didn’t leave any traces.”

Leng Zimo nodded, ”What about the scene of the car accident, any findings there?”

”Since the incident happened in the middle of the night and it was raining heavily, we haven’t found any witnesses. However, from the scene, it seems that the suspect was somewhat panicked after knocking down Lu Hao, even hitting the road barrier while reversing,” Old Zhao said while taking out a cigarette from his case. ”This suspect is entirely different from those I’ve encountered before. The attention to minor details like the check shows he’s a very shrewd person, well-prepared in every aspect. Yet, he appeared so flustered after causing a death, even failing to think of taking the check to erase evidence, which seems somehow inconsistent.”

”I speculate there are two possibilities,” Leng Zimo said gravely, ”First, this person decided to kill Lu Hao on the spur of the moment, which is why he was so flustered after committing the crime; second, the check might have been left deliberately to confuse our judgment.”

Old Zhao nodded and smiled, ”It’s truly a pity that you’re not a detective.”

”But, who could hate me so much?” Luo Xiaoqian clearly struggled to comprehend.

She could understand if it was Lu Hao targeting her, but she really couldn’t think of who would direct Lu Hao to do such a thing.

”You don’t need to worry. We will bring this case to a conclusive end as promptly as possible,” Old Zhao stood up, bringing Luo Xiaoqian’s statement for her to sign, ”Thank you both for making the effort to come here.”

Leng Zimo handed him a business card, ”If there’s anything I can help with, don’t hesitate to ask. I hope to hear a satisfactory answer to this matter soon.”

Old Zhao took the card, ”We’ll do our best!”

”You know Xiao Qian’s identity; please keep this matter confidential from the media,” Leng Zimo said.

”Don’t worry, I understand these things,” replied Old Zhao respectfully.

”Then I’ll leave it in your hands,” Luo Xiaoqian politely said before standing up with Leng Zimo.

When the two of them got back in the car and left, it was approaching dusk. On the way back to the Leng Family Mansion, they hadn’t yet gotten out of the car when they saw Leng Zirui’s SUV parked outside the Leng Family home, and he was squatting behind his vehicle, examining the tail of the car and gesticulating from time to time.

Seeing them drive up, he immediately went to the back of Leng Zimo’s car and took a tape measure from his pocket to measure the distance between the car body and the ground.

Leng Zimo and Luo Xiaoqian got out of the car together, both looking puzzled at his actions.

”What are you playing at now?” asked Leng Zimo.

Leng Zirui stood up, ”I can now confirm that Lu Hao was killed by a white, high-end sports car!”

...

...

That’s it.
