After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 511: Chapter 514 Fearful, You Say Goodbye to Me [5]

The driver glanced at Leng Lin through the rearview mirror with some difficulty, who gave a gentle nod. He immediately accelerated the car and headed toward the direction of the city police headquarters.

Soon, the car entered the gates of the police headquarters.

Without waiting for the car to come to a complete stop, Director Xu Shichang had already approached with several subordinates to greet them.

”Where is the person?”

Leng Zimo pushed open the car door and jumped out, immediately asking in an urgent tone.

Xu Shichang certainly recognized him and did not dare to delay, hurriedly gesturing for them to follow, ”Gentlemen, please come with me!”

Xu Shichang personally led the way, taking the two men to the morgue.

Inside the morgue, the staff were conducting photography and other examination work on the body of Lu Hao lying on the mortuary table.

Leng Zimo walked over, glanced once, and immediately furrowed his brow.

”Where did you find him?”

”Does Young Master Leng recognize him?” Xu Shichang asked.

Leng Zimo spat out a few words discontentedly, ”Time, location, specific details!”

Xu Shichang gestured to a subordinate, who immediately began to speak.

”This is what happened: at 4:35 this morning, a breakfast vendor nearby found the body and called the police. We’ve already conducted the initial autopsy. According to the coroner’s report, the time of death should be between midnight and one in the morning. He died from a severe collision that caused internal organ rupture.” He picked up an evidence bag from the table, ”This was found on the victim. His cell phone is damaged and inoperative, but we’ve managed to retrieve the SIM card, and we’ve also checked the call logs. It contains Miss Luo Xiaoqian’s number, and besides that, there are two other numbers we are currently investigating.”

Leng Zimo turned his face and saw in the evidence bag, besides Lu Hao’s shattered phone, there were cigarettes and a lighter among other items. Additionally, in another bag, there was a check.

”At first, we thought this might be a case of a hit-and-run traffic accident. However, we also found this on him. Even though the signature part has been destroyed by water, you can still make out the numbers. It’s ten million. Considering the enormity of the amount, we now suspect this may not be a simple traffic accident.”

”Ten million?” Leng Zimo raised his hand and took the evidence bag from him, ”I know him. He couldn’t possibly have that much money!”

The check was stained with water and blood, making the signature part unreadable. However, the part with the numbers was still clearly discernible as a check for ten million.

”Isn’t there surveillance footage?” he asked, observing the check.

”Ahem!” A detective coughed lightly, ”The camera there was damaged a few days ago and hasn’t been repaired.”

Leng Zimo threw the check back on the table, ”You might as well be dead!”

Everyone in the room remained silent, not uttering a word.

”Zimo!” Leng Lin spoke in a deep voice, ”Have the surveillance cameras near our family’s compound been checked?”

”They have been checked!” This time, Xu Shichang answered personally, ”Following the clues you provided, we carefully reviewed the footage. According to the records, after Miss Luo left your house, she also headed in the direction of Houhai. The footage shows that the man was following her. Although the camera at the accident scene was broken, we checked several intersections around the area, and there is no footage of her leaving Houhai. Considering she didn’t have any money on her, we temporarily rule out the possibility of her taking a taxi to leave, and we can almost ascertain that Luo Xiaoqian must have stayed in Houhai from yesterday afternoon to early this morning.”
