Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

”I’m not the same person I was three years ago! Go ahead, bankrupt the Sutton Family! I don’t care! You can’t threaten me.”

’What happened to the Sutton Family had nothing to do with her anymore!’ Anne Sutton truly didn’t care about any of it.

Charles Prescott said, ”You might not know this, but your mother is sick. She’s been hospitalized, and Sharon is taking care of her. Just imagine... how devastating it would be for her if the Sutton Family went bankrupt! Your dad’s a scumbag, so you don’t care about him. But you can’t be indifferent to your own mother, can you?”

Anne Sutton froze. This was news to her.

’My mother is sick?’

’My father didn’t mention it just now either!’

Charles Prescott continued, ”Think about it. I’ll welcome you with open arms as long as you agree to be with me. You know I still have feelings for you.”

’He wouldn’t marry her, but he was determined to have her!’

’After all, getting any other woman was far too easy for him.’

’She, however, was different.’

’The angrier she got, the more interested he became.’

...

Anne Sutton took a step back, not wanting him to touch a single hair on her head.

Seeing her reaction, Charles Prescott laughed. ”What are you dodging for?”

Anne Sutton kept backing away, but seeing her retreat, he closed the distance...

...until she stumbled and fell onto the sofa.

He loomed over her, planting a hand on the sofa to trap her.

The housekeeper came downstairs, saw the scene, and called out, ”Ma’am...”

’No matter what, Charles Prescott was her junior!’

’The housekeeper couldn’t stand to see him treat Anne Sutton like this.’

Charles Prescott looked up and shot her an icy glare. ”Get out!”

’She was just a servant. He didn’t even give her a second thought.’

Startled, the housekeeper quickly scurried into the kitchen.

Anne Sutton stared at Charles Prescott. ”Charles, if you dare touch me, your name will be trending tomorrow.”

Charles Prescott replied, ”If that’s the case, I’d actually look forward to it!”

”You’re shameless!” ’He never used to come here! Even when he did, he was never this brazen! But now... He’s not even trying to hide their connection anymore!’

Charles Prescott said, ”You ruined my engagement party. You should have seen this coming. Now that my engagement to Mia Shaw is off, I naturally have plenty of time to spend with you.”

’His expression was one of absolute certainty; he was determined to have her!’

’One day, he would make her his!’

’He would make her fall for him, just like all the other women!’

’Instead of spending her days thinking about that dead man, Nathan Fawcett!’

Just then, Henry Underwood walked in. ”Sir, you have a visitor!”

Charles Prescott said, ”Can’t you handle it?”

Henry Underwood said, ”The visitor is Ethan Linden!”

Hearing the name Ethan Linden, Charles Prescott froze. His gaze shot to Anne Sutton, boring into her...

’Did he come with her?’

’No, that’s not right.’

’She came back by herself last night.’

’He knew that for a fact.’

His mind filled with questions, Charles Prescott stood up and followed Henry Underwood out the door.

After he left, Anne Sutton quickly sat up.

She was furious with Charles Prescott, but Henry Underwood’s words replayed in her mind...

’Ethan Linden is here?’

’Why would he come here?’

’Anna Linden hates the Fawcett Family. She would never let Ethan come here!’

Besides, she had just returned from the Linden family’s home last night, and he hadn’t said anything about coming.

Puzzled, Anne Sutton followed them out the door.

...

In the Prescott family’s living room, Nathan Fawcett sat on the sofa.

He coldly surveyed his surroundings. It was clear that after his own father’s passing, the Prescott father and son had been living quite comfortably.

Ian sat beside him, mimicking his posture as he too took in the room.

’Mmm, Daddy said he was bringing him to find Auntie, that’s the only reason he came!’

’Anyway, after his birthday, Stella Shields had to rush back to filming, and Anna Linden had her own work to do, so there was no one to look after him.’

Butler Walters had come with them as well.

Charles Prescott was surprised to see Butler Walters. He couldn’t understand why he was here.

His appearance still gave Charles a jolt.

’After all, he had always been by Nathan Fawcett’s side.’

’And now he’d shown up here...’

’Had he not returned all these years because he was with Ethan Linden?’

He looked at Ethan Linden, his mind racing with questions, and asked, ”What brings you here, Mr. Linden? Are you here to see my aunt?”

’That Anne Sutton has some nerve, bringing her lover right into the house!’

’If that’s the case, he’d have to teach her a lesson later.’

’After all, as Nathan Fawcett’s widow, she should be in mourning. If word got out that she wasn’t, the Fawcett Family’s supporters would surely condemn her!’

Hearing Charles Prescott’s words, Nathan Fawcett asked directly, ”Where’s your father?”

Charles Prescott paused, taken aback that he’d mention his father. ”My father is busy. What do you want with him?”

Nathan Fawcett looked at Charles Prescott and said, ”If he’s not here, telling you should be the same. I’ve come back to see my father!”

”What are you talking about?” Charles Prescott was baffled. He didn’t understand a single word the man was saying.

Butler Walters looked at Charles Prescott and explained, ”Mr. Prescott, Mr. Linden is also Chairman Fawcett’s biological son. After the chairman divorced, he took his mother’s surname.”

Charles Prescott exclaimed, ”Impossible!”

’Nathan Fawcett was the only heir to the Fawcett Family!’

’Chairman Fawcett always said the child in Anne Sutton’s womb was the family’s only remaining bloodline!’

’If he really had another son, why wasn’t he brought back to be the heir?’

Charles Prescott now strongly suspected he was being set up.

’This has to be Anne Sutton’s trap, right?’

’She wants revenge and to steal the company, so now she’s colluding with other people and using this scheme?’

Nathan Fawcett said, ”It doesn’t matter whether you believe it or not. I’ll be staying here for a while. When your father gets back, have him come talk to me about the Fawcett family’s affairs. I’d like to see for myself what you’ve done to my father’s company!”

Charles Prescott said, ”Mr. Linden, I know you’re acquainted with Anne Sutton, but since Chairman Fawcett passed away, my father and I have been managing the Fawcett family’s business. Before the chairman died, I was the designated heir... These matters are complicated. I hope you’ll think carefully before getting involved in the Fawcett family’s business. Don’t let Anne Sutton fool you!”

Nathan Fawcett glanced at Charles Prescott, almost laughing at his words. ’As if he didn’t know the state of the Fawcett family.’

’Charles Prescott really had some nerve, calling himself the heir!’

’Then what did that make his son, Ian?’

’And did he really think he was only here because Anne Sutton had pulled the wool over his eyes?’

Nathan Fawcett spoke, ”I know more about my father’s affairs than you do. He never once wrote a will that gave the company to you! The child in Anne Sutton’s womb was the rightful heir. It was only your turn after the child was lost. Now I’m back, and naturally, I’m taking back what’s mine. What’s the matter? Have you held onto our family’s things for so long that you’ve forgotten who the real owner is?”

Nathan Fawcett’s tone was overpowering. His words left Charles Prescott speechless.

He looked at Ethan Linden. That air of absolute confidence... it was just like Nathan Fawcett’s...

’Could he really be Nathan Fawcett’s brother?’
