Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Nathan Fawcett said, ”I hear you tried to kick your aunt out of here while I was away?”

Charles Prescott looked at the man. The way he asked the question reminded Charles of the Nathan Fawcett from the past.

For some reason, their tones of voice were exactly the same.

He would never have dared to be so arrogant in front of Nathan Fawcett before.

But the man standing before him now was Ethan Linden, so naturally, he didn’t take him very seriously.

And yet, he still found himself intimidated by Ethan Linden’s powerful presence.

Charles Prescott said, ”I just think that if my uncle knew you and Aunt were living here together, he wouldn’t be happy.”

”Is that so?” Nathan Fawcett said. ”You seem so sure. Did he tell you that himself?”

Hearing this, Charles Prescott replied helplessly, ”Uncle has been gone for so long, how could he possibly tell me? It’s just... Second Uncle, you and he were blood brothers. Now you’re stealing his wife. If you put yourself in his shoes, he wouldn’t be happy either, would he?”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”I’m here today to tell you one thing: take your family and move out of this house.”

Charles Prescott had come to evict them, but he never expected Nathan Fawcett to make the first move.

He said dismissively, ”On what grounds, Second Uncle? After the old Chairman passed away, my father and I became the rightful heirs of this family. Everything here belongs to us. Even if you really are the old Chairman’s son, you have no right to make us leave!”

”Right?” Nathan Fawcett laughed.

He said to Butler Walters, ”Give him the papers.”

Anne Sutton sat to one side, watching Nathan Fawcett’s confident expression. She realized he wasn’t the least bit afraid of Charles Prescott.

’He’s actually trying to make Charles Prescott move out?’

’Does he have some kind of leverage I don’t know about?’

Hearing Nathan Fawcett’s words, Butler Walters took out a file and handed it to Charles Prescott.

Charles Prescott opened it and saw it was a power of attorney written by Nathan Fawcett. It stated that all assets under his name were to be handed over to Ethan Linden, who would have full authority to manage them.

Charles Prescott said, ”How is this possible?”

”I was by Nathan’s side when he passed. Why would it be impossible? You can have it authenticated if you like. You don’t have to move out now, but I’ve already instructed my lawyer to file a suit. Whether you leave on your own or get thrown out, the choice is yours.”

Charles Prescott’s hands clenched into tight fists.

He knew this house had originally been under Nathan Fawcett’s name.

But he also knew that Nathan Fawcett had passed away before the old man, so all the arrangements had been handled by the old man himself.

Afterward, the old man had given everything directly to the child in Anne Sutton’s womb.

Only after the child was lost did the assets fall into the hands of the Prescott father and son.

He never imagined that Ethan Linden would be able to produce something like this now.

He was certainly not willing to go to court over a house.

A lawsuit right now would also affect the company.

What the Prescott father and son cared about most were the company’s interests.

They weren’t like Ethan Linden. Ethan still had the Linden Family to fall back on.

Even if something happened to the Fawcett Group, he had a safety net.

But they...

They only had the Fawcett Group to hold on to.

If something truly went wrong, the impact on them would be enormous.

Naturally, they wouldn’t dare take that risk.

Charles Prescott said, ”Second Uncle, I’m sorry. I was in the wrong earlier. My actions were rash. This house originally belonged to Uncle, so it’s only right for Aunt to live here. You can both stay for as long as you like. I apologize for my previous behavior.”

Anne Sutton stared at the man. Just moments ago, he had been trying to kick them out.

Now that Ethan Linden had produced something that put him at a disadvantage, his attitude had done a complete one-eighty.

Nathan Fawcett looked at Charles Prescott. ”Are you trying to bargain with me? I’m giving you two days. If you’re not out of here by then, just you wait and see what happens.”

After speaking, he said to the butler, ”Show him out. The sight of him is irritating.”

The butler nodded and said to Charles Prescott, ”Mr. Prescott, this way, please.”

His gaze toward Charles Prescott was also filled with contempt.

’Back then, Chairman Fawcett was so good to them...’

’Now that the Chairman is gone, they’ve turned to bullying Anne Sutton!’

’It’s a good thing the master is still alive, otherwise, who knows how this situation would have developed.’

At this thought, his gaze toward Charles Prescott grew even colder.

Charles Prescott glanced at Ethan Linden, then at Anne Sutton. Seeing Ethan’s icy expression, he knew his earlier actions had genuinely angered him.

He walked out the door and returned to his own house.

Just before, he had been planning to drive Anne Sutton out; now, Ethan Linden had given him just two days to get out himself.

Charles Prescott had lived here ever since his father started working for the old Chairman and later became the Chairman’s godson.

You could say he grew up here.

Although his surname was Prescott, he had long considered himself a member of the Fawcett Family.

But he never imagined that now, with both Chairman Fawcett and Nathan Fawcett gone, some outsider like Ethan Linden would be the one to kick him out.

Henry Underwood saw him, walked over, and said, ”President Prescott.”

Charles Prescott ignored him and walked into the living room. Remembering Ethan Linden’s arrogant face, he was so furious that he kicked a chair out of his way.

Leo saw his father and was about to walk over, but he froze in fear at the sight.

A house servant quickly came over and carried him away.

Henry Underwood watched Charles Prescott, wanting to say something but not daring to.

Charles Prescott reached up and rubbed his temples. ”How am I inferior to him? Is it just because he was born better? Why is it that no matter how hard I try, I can never catch up to them?”

In the past, Nathan Fawcett could get everything without having to lift a finger.

But no matter how hard he worked, he still had to walk on eggshells around others.

And now, to top it all off...

Some Ethan Linden who just appeared out of nowhere was able to push him around.

He and his father had worked hard for so many years, only to be driven out of here by someone else. How could he possibly swallow this insult?

Henry Underwood looked at Charles Prescott’s furious expression and said, ”By the way, I heard Ms. Shields came by today.”

”Stella Shields?” Charles Prescott looked at Henry Underwood.

Henry Underwood nodded. ”Yes! But she’s already gone.”

Charles Prescott said, ”Give her a call. Arrange a meeting.”

He and Stella Shields already knew each other from the past.

It was just that Stella Shields had been in Veridia all these years, so the two of them hadn’t really kept in touch.

Now was the perfect opportunity to ask her about the Linden Family’s situation.

Hearing his instructions, Henry Underwood hurried off to call Stella Shields.

Anne Sutton sat in her chair, looked at Nathan Fawcett’s serious expression, and asked, ”That power of attorney... can I see it?”

Nathan Fawcett glanced at her. ”What’s there to see?”

”I just want to take a look.” When Nathan Fawcett passed away, he did so abruptly and left nothing behind.

That was why she wanted to see it now.

Hearing her words, Nathan Fawcett glanced at the butler, who then brought the power of attorney over.

Anne Sutton opened it and saw that the handwriting was genuinely Nathan Fawcett’s.

She looked toward Ethan Linden and asked, ”This... Did Nathan really leave this for you?”
