Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Anne Sutton was still eating when the housekeeper asked, ”What should we do? What if Mr. Prescott really makes us move out...?”

She could see it clearly now—the tides had turned for the Fawcett Family.

Charles Prescott and Miles Prescott were the ones calling all the shots.

After what happened with Ethan Linden, the father and son duo had dropped all pretense.

Anne Sutton said, ”Didn’t he say he’d call the police? Then let them come and arrest me.”

She refused to believe it was a crime to live in Nathan Fawcett’s house!

The housekeeper stood to the side, at a loss for words.

Ian looked at Anne Sutton and said, ”Mommy, don’t be scared. I’ll protect you!”

Anne Sutton looked at the little guy and said, ”Thank you, Ian.”

Although she knew it was just a child’s promise, seeing him still brought her a profound sense of peace.

...

Anne Sutton lost her appetite. She picked up her phone, thought of Chairman Grant, and gave him a call.

She knew that Chairman Grant had a say in this matter.

If people at the company found out Charles Prescott was trying to kick her out of her home, they would never agree to it.

However, when Anne Sutton called, Chairman Grant didn’t pick up.

It seemed to be just as Charles Prescott had said...

No one was going to help her now.

After all, by going public with Ethan Linden, she was no longer considered Nathan Fawcett’s wife.

Anne Sutton clenched her fists.

...

Charles Prescott was sitting to the side, eating with Leo.

He’d heard that Leo had actually pushed Ian’s stroller just for a toy car, and he found it incomprehensible.

He made a call and had a toy car delivered for Leo.

He was in the car manufacturing business, after all.

A single toy car was a trivial matter for him.

Leo was thrilled to have his own car.

Charles Prescott glanced at the time and asked, ”Hasn’t Anne Sutton come to apologize yet?”

”No,” said Henry Underwood. ”Knowing Ms. Sutton’s personality, I doubt she’ll come to apologize. Are you really going to kick her out?”

Henry Underwood knew that Charles Prescott harbored feelings for Anne Sutton.

After all, they had been engaged for several years.

He hadn’t thought of kicking her out during all the years she had lived there.

Wanting to evict her now was probably because he truly couldn’t stand seeing her with Ethan Linden.

Charles Prescott said, ”I treated her well before out of respect for our past, but look at her now. Does she care about me at all? She’s with Ethan Linden every day!”

Just the thought of it made him furious.

...

Anne Sutton picked up her phone and called Ethan Linden. She didn’t know what he was busy with, but he didn’t answer at all.

Just then, the housekeeper came over and said to Anne Sutton, ”Ma’am, the police are here.”

’Charles Prescott actually called the police.’

Anne Sutton walked out the door and saw two officers enter. They explained their purpose to her, ”Mr. Prescott says he is the owner of this property and requires you to move out.”

Anne Sutton explained, ”This is my place. I’ve always lived here.”

”But the title holder of this house is Mr. Prescott.”

Anne Sutton looked at them. ”I have been living in this house.”

”I’m sorry, ma’am...”

Just then, Anne Sutton’s phone rang.

She looked at the screen and saw it was a call from Ethan Linden.

He hadn’t answered before, but now he was calling her back.

Anne Sutton answered the phone, a little upset. ”What were you doing? Why didn’t you answer my calls?”

”I was busy just now. What happened?” Nathan Fawcett asked.

Even over the phone, he could tell that Anne Sutton was very anxious.

Anne Sutton said, ”I pissed off Charles Prescott. He wants to make me move out of the house, to kick me and Ian out. The police are even here.”

Hearing this, Nathan Fawcett was stunned for a moment. He hadn’t expected that right after he left, Charles Prescott would try to kick Anne Sutton out of his house.

’What a fucking joke!’

He, the actual owner, hadn’t said a thing.

Nathan Fawcett said, ”It’s fine. I’ll handle it. Don’t worry.”

He hung up as soon as he finished speaking.

...

Anne Sutton wondered how he could possibly handle it, since he was in Veridia right now.

A few minutes later, the officer talking to her received a phone call.

After the call, the two officers’ attitudes changed completely.

They glanced at Anne Sutton and said, ”Our apologies, we made a mistake.”

Anne Sutton stared at them, confused.

Just then, Mrs. Prescott hobbled over. Her leg hadn’t fully healed, but hearing that Anne Sutton was about to be evicted, she was unbearably arrogant.

Looking at Anne Sutton, she said, ”Tsk, tsk. Finally getting kicked out, are we! Serves you right for being so smug! Did you really think this was your house?”

Anne Sutton looked at the old woman. ”Who told you I was leaving?”

Mrs. Prescott stood to the side and said to the police officers, ”You’re just in time! Hurry up and get this woman out of here! This is clearly my family’s home, but she insists on living here. How shameless!”

The officers glanced at Mrs. Prescott, then back at Anne Sutton, offered her another apology, and left.

...

The old woman watched this unfold, then looked at Anne Sutton, not understanding what had just happened.

Charles Prescott was still at home with Leo. The boy was ecstatic about his new car, and Charles, as a father, was enjoying the rare chance to spend time with his son.

Henry Underwood walked in.

He glanced at Henry Underwood and asked, ”What’s the situation?”

”They said someone made a call and that they can’t get involved in this matter. It must have been Ethan Linden. The Linden Family is very well-connected; they wouldn’t dare to offend him. If we keep this up, are we going to make an enemy of Ethan Linden?”

Even if Ethan Linden couldn’t inherit the Fawcett Group, he was still the Head of the Linden Family.

If he were to truly oppose them, it would be a major problem.

Charles Prescott glanced at Henry Underwood. ”Didn’t he go back to Veridia?”

”He just went back for a meeting. He’ll probably come back. Besides, he left his son here.”

Charles Prescott said, ”This man is so annoying.”

In Westhaven, the connections Charles Prescott and his father had were more than enough.

But compared to the Linden Family, they were clearly outmatched.

Henry Underwood said, ”However, I heard something.”

”What is it?”

”I heard that after the old Chairman’s ex-wife divorced him, she refused to have anything to do with the Fawcett Family. All these years, she never let Ethan Linden come back, not even when Chairman Fawcett passed away. I heard they completely cut ties. Perhaps she doesn’t even know that Ethan Linden has returned this time. What do you think would happen if she found out? Would she oppose everything he’s doing right now?”

Charles Prescott looked at Henry Underwood. ”You have a point. Since we can’t do anything about Ethan Linden, we’ll have to let the Linden family handle him.”

Chairman Fawcett had been gone for years, and Ethan Linden never showed up. His sudden appearance this time was clearly because of Anne Sutton.

...

If the Linden family found out that Ethan Linden actually wanted to marry a widow like Anne Sutton, they would probably never agree to it.

After hearing Henry Underwood’s words, Charles Prescott instantly saw a glimmer of hope.

...

For the next two days, Nathan Fawcett was in meetings.

It was a rather important conference, so it lasted for two days.

In the afternoon, he came out of the conference room and asked the butler, ”Have the plane tickets been booked?”
