Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Nathan Fawcett said, ”What are you considering? Don’t you just think Justin Shields is rich? Don’t worry, I’m a hundred times richer than him! Whatever you want, whatever they can give you, I can give you. And what they can’t, I can give you too!”

At this point, Nathan Fawcett felt a bit wronged.

After all, he hadn’t even punished her yet, and here he was, offering himself up on a silver platter!

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, ”It’s not about the money!”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Then what is it about? As if I don’t know what kind of person you are?”

Didn’t she get close to him and offer to bear his child just to use him to suppress Charles Prescott?

As he spoke, he moved to take off her bracelet. Anne Sutton didn’t resist, simply saying to Nathan Fawcett, ”It won’t come off just like that. I’ll go put on some hand lotion.”

Nathan Fawcett watched her. Anne Sutton applied the lotion, slipped off the bracelet, and handed it to him. ”Here, you can return it to Justin for me!”

”His name is Justin Shields. It’s not like he doesn’t have a full name.”

He was very bothered by her calling him ”Justin.”

’She calls me Mr. Linden, but she calls another man Justin?’

Anne Sutton said, ”Fine! Justin Shields, is that better?! You can return it to Mr. Shields for me.”

She had been planning to return it today anyway.

But given the circumstances, and with her mother right there, she had been too embarrassed.

Nathan Fawcett glanced at the bracelet and put it away.

Anne Sutton stood to the side, staring at his face and recalling what he had just said...

’This man actually said he wants me to be Ian’s mother.’

’So...’

’Does he want to be with me?’

The moment she realized his relationship with Stella Shields wasn’t what she had imagined, and that Ian wasn’t Stella Shields’s child, the pressure in Anne Sutton’s heart suddenly lightened.

Nathan Fawcett looked up and saw her staring at him, noticing her gaze was unusual.

It was just like the look she gave him last time when she was drunk.

But after she came to believe he was Ethan Linden, she had never looked at him this way again.

Her stare made Nathan Fawcett feel as if a kitten were scratching at his heart.

”Why are you looking at me like that?”

When she looked at him like this, Nathan Fawcett always found it hard to resist.

’Even though in my eyes, she’s a heartless woman!’

’Last time at the hotel, if she hadn’t been drunk, I would have slept with her.’

Anne Sutton snapped back to her senses when she heard his question.

For a moment, she thought he looked so much like Nathan Fawcett. Although his clothes and aura were different, she just felt he was more like her Nathan, which was why she’d been staring.

She averted her gaze and said, ”It’s nothing. Where’s Ian? How is he?”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”He’s playing games by himself.”

As he spoke, Nathan Fawcett walked out the door.

...

Anne Sutton watched his back as he left, then sat down.

She didn’t know why, but with Nathan Fawcett suddenly showing up and taking the bracelet away, she actually felt a sense of relief.

’Oh well,’ she thought. ’I’ll just have to explain it to my mother later!’

She went into the bathroom first to take a shower.

When she came out, she saw the butler had come in, bringing Nathan Fawcett’s luggage with him. A maid was organizing his things, folding his clothes and putting them in the closet.

Anne Sutton: ”...”

Although she had seemingly been forced to accept Nathan Fawcett’s proposal to be Ian’s mother...

’...isn’t he moving a little too fast?’

The butler saw Anne Sutton and said, ”Madam.”

”What are you all doing?” Anne Sutton asked.

The butler replied, ”Sir said he doesn’t want to sleep in the study tonight, so he told us to move all his things over here.”

Hearing the butler’s words, Anne Sutton felt her face instantly flush hot.

She quickly tried to explain, ”Butler, I... It’s not what you think.”

She knew the butler worked for Nathan Fawcett.

’Now that Ethan Linden is moving his things in, who knows what the butler must think of me!’

While Anne Sutton was agonizing over this, the butler cut in, ”I understand.”

’What do you understand?’ she thought. ’I haven’t even said anything!’

Seeing the butler standing aside with a smile, Anne Sutton felt that not only had he failed to understand her, but he had completely misinterpreted her meaning.

The butler said, ”I will keep the matter of you and Sir living together confidential, Madam.”

’...’ she thought. ’That’s not what I meant, is it?’

The butler looked at Anne Sutton and said, ”Please get some rest, Madam.”

They had finished packing everything away. The servants had even moved Nathan Fawcett’s toiletries into the bathroom.

Watching this scene, Anne Sutton’s mind was buzzing.

’I must be the first person to so brazenly get involved with her brother-in-law, right?’

’I wonder what other people will think of me!’

Although, she had done this kind of thing before. When she was with Nathan Fawcett, Charles Prescott even had to call her ’Auntie’.

But right now, something just felt off.

In any case, she felt very guilty.

Anne Sutton got into bed but couldn’t fall asleep.

She picked up a medical book to read, wanting to wait for him to come so she could ask him about it.

’Isn’t he being a little too conspicuous?’

But in the end...

Before she knew it, it was midnight, and Nathan Fawcett still hadn’t returned.

Anne Sutton usually kept a good sleep schedule, and she was getting sleepy.

So she just went to sleep.

Inside a lounge, Justin Shields looked at Nathan Fawcett and asked, ”What made you come looking for me? Felt like a drink and had no one to join you?”

”This is for you.” Nathan Fawcett took out the bracelet and handed it to Justin Shields.

Because the bracelet was fragile, he had put it in a box.

Justin Shields opened it and took a look. Seeing it was the bracelet his mother had given to Anne Sutton, he was surprised. ”What’s the meaning of this? Why do you have something that was given to Anne?”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”She asked me to return it to you.”

Justin Shields was skeptical. ”Really?”

Nathan Fawcett nodded, then picked up a glass and drank some ice water.

Justin Shields looked at him and said, ”Ethan, do you... still have feelings for Anne?”

Nathan Fawcett looked at Justin Shields and denied it. ”No.”

”Then how about you help me convince her? Put in a good word for me. I really like her. I know you two had a past, but your status is different now, and you don’t even like her. Anyway, I really like her! If I could be with her, my mom would be thrilled.”

”...” Nathan Fawcett hadn’t expected Justin Shields to have this waiting for him. ”In your dreams.”

”Come on, help me out!” Justin Shields said. ”We’re bros, aren’t we?”

”Impossible,” Nathan Fawcett said. ”I’m not that bored. I’m leaving!”

After saying that, he put down his glass, stood up, and left the lounge.

If he hadn’t been so impatient to return the bracelet to Justin Shields, he wouldn’t have made this trip so late at night.

...

Nathan Fawcett returned home and went to the bedroom.

This had been his room before, but because his identity was different now, he hadn’t stayed here since coming back, living in the study instead.

Only today had he asked the butler to move his things in.

He walked in the door and saw Anne Sutton lying on the bed, already asleep.

She had left a lamp on, its soft light illuminating her.

Nathan Fawcett stood by the bed, watching her for a moment, then went to take a cold shower before coming to bed.

’Lying in this bed with her again—I never thought it would be after so many years.’

This room held many memories for him and Anne Sutton.

She had even given him her first time here.

At this thought, Nathan Fawcett reached out and pulled her into his arms.

He truly liked her. He liked sleeping with her; it made him feel at ease, and even his sleep would improve.

Anne Sutton was sound asleep when she felt Nathan Fawcett kissing her, and his kisses woke her up.

She opened her eyes and, looking at him in the dim light of the night lamp, said, ”You’re back?”

Nathan Fawcett looked at her, now awake, and didn’t say a word, simply lowering his head for another kiss.

Anne Sutton quickly pushed him. ”Ethan.”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”What, am I not allowed to touch you?”

Her rejection displeased him.

But he wasn’t one to force himself on others.

So he stopped.

He glared at her, a hint of unfulfilled desire in his eyes.

Anne Sutton looked at his angry face and, for some reason, found it rather interesting.

Anne Sutton explained, ”I’m on my period.”
