Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

”...” Anne Sutton knew Leo had been spoiled rotten by Mrs. Prescott. Whatever he wanted, he had to get.

He had seen Ian’s car earlier but hadn’t gotten to ride in it, so he went back and had been crying to Mrs. Prescott ever since.

Mrs. Prescott was at her wit’s end!

But Anne Sutton had no intention of indulging them.

She already couldn’t stand Charles Prescott.

So naturally, she didn’t care much for his family either.

Anne Sutton said, ”I’m not lending it.”

Mrs. Prescott said to Anne Sutton, ”We live together, after all. We see each other every day. And you won’t even lend us a car? Believe it or not, I’ll have Charles throw you out later!”

She had already told Charles Prescott this last time.

But Charles Prescott hadn’t driven her out.

Mrs. Prescott was rendered speechless.

’When Charles gets back, I’m definitely going to have a word with him!’

”Oh, I’m terrified! Go on, have someone throw me out!” Anne Sutton couldn’t be bothered with her and said to the housekeeper standing nearby, ”Show our guest out.”

Mrs. Prescott shot back at Anne Sutton, ”Anne Sutton, don’t think I don’t know what’s going on. It won’t be long before you’re kicked out! I heard you’re with that... Ethan Linden! You’re truly shameless! Getting involved with Nathan Fawcett’s own brother! I’ve never seen a sister-in-law get together with her own brother-in-law! Back in my hometown, you’d be cursed out for this.”

Ian, who had been sitting to the side watching the scene unfold, turned to a staff member standing nearby. ”Auntie June.”

This woman was from the Linden Family.

She wore professional attire and looked very capable.

Hearing Ian’s words, she smiled slightly. ”Young Master.”

”Get rid of this person. She’s too loud!”

Hearing Ian’s order, Auntie June glanced at Mrs. Prescott and gave a subtle signal to the people beside her. In an instant, they were escorting Mrs. Prescott out.

Their movements were efficient and well-rehearsed.

Now that the Fawcett Family was run by Charles Prescott and Miles Prescott, none of the servants respected Anne Sutton, except for the ones who had been specifically left to care for her.

It didn’t matter that she had once been Nathan Fawcett’s wife.

However, the staff from the Linden Family were different.

They answered only to Ian.

Anne Sutton was startled to see Mrs. Prescott being escorted out just like that.

’I thought the staff from the Linden Family were just here to take care of Ian. I didn’t realize this was what ’taking care’ of him meant.’

’No wonder...’

’...Ethan Linden was so at ease leaving his three-year-old son here by himself.’

’The way Ian is, he’s probably not going to be taken advantage of anytime soon.’

Anne Sutton looked at Ian and said, ”Ian, are you really that impressive?”

Ian replied, ”Don’t worry, Mommy. I’ll protect you.”

...

When Charles Prescott returned, he found Mrs. Prescott sitting on the sofa, crying her eyes out.

Leo was also crying because he hadn’t gotten to ride in the car he wanted.

Charles Prescott asked, ”What happened?”

Mrs. Prescott exclaimed, ”I was thrown out!”

She recounted the day’s events, adding, ”They even twisted my ankle! Charles, they’re living right here and bullying me like this. You have to do something.”

A doctor was treating Mrs. Prescott and confirmed that her ankle was sprained.

Charles Prescott’s face darkened.

He strode over and barged right in.

He knew that Ethan Linden had already returned to Veridia.

He walked in and saw Anne Sutton sitting there, having dinner with Ian.

Charles Prescott said, ”Anne Sutton.”

Anne Sutton looked up at him. ”Not calling me ’Auntie’ anymore?”

”...” Charles Prescott scoffed. ”You’re about to marry Ethan Linden. Why should I still call you ’Auntie’?”

”What, is Ethan Linden not your uncle anymore? Don’t you have to call him Second Uncle? Now that he’s not around, you’ve gotten bold again?” He was only ever this arrogant when Ethan wasn’t present.

Charles Prescott said, ”I just came here to talk sense into you. Why did you have people drag my grandmother out? Do you know how old she is? Do you know she sprained her ankle because of you?”

”What does her sprained ankle have to do with me? Charles Prescott, even though Nathan Fawcett is gone, this is his territory. You weren’t qualified to come here before, and the same is true now. You’d better control your family. If they come over again, don’t blame me for throwing them out.”

’I can’t even get a moment of peace!’

Hearing Anne Sutton’s words, Charles Prescott retorted, ”This house and the main one in front are a single property. The deed is among the chairman’s assets. I am the master of this house now. Everything here is mine. Anne Sutton, I have every right to kick you out!”

”You’re going to kick me out?” Anne Sutton looked at Charles Prescott.

Charles Prescott said, ”I didn’t kick you out before out of consideration for your relationship with Nathan Fawcett, and because I was worried about what people at the company would think. But now you’ve shacked up with Ethan Linden! You don’t actually think you’re still qualified to live here, do you?”

Anne Sutton retorted to Charles Prescott, ”Ethan Linden is also part of the Fawcett Family.”

”He’s just biologically related to the old man, and... who even knows if that’s true? Legally, he has no connection to him. His surname is Linden, don’t you forget.”

”...”

Anne Sutton watched his arrogant display, her hands clenching into tight fists.

’He actually has the nerve to say all this is his!’

’If my child were still alive, would it be his turn to inherit anything?’

Charles Prescott looked at her and said, ”Go apologize to my grandmother, or... I’ll throw you out today.”

”You think you’re worthy?” Anne Sutton glared at Charles Prescott. ”Don’t get too ahead of yourself!”

Charles Prescott chuckled. ”You really don’t understand the situation. Back when you were Nathan Fawcett’s wife, everyone respected you, and Chairman Grant protected you. But now? You don’t really think they’ll still accept you, do you? By getting together with Ethan Linden, you’ve already angered them. Now, no one in the entire company will protect you. Understand?”

Charles Prescott stood to the side, looking at Anne Sutton as if she were a clown.

’As long as Chairman Grant turns on her, the people who support him won’t stand by Anne Sutton either. Then I’ll have nothing to fear.’

Charles Prescott glanced at the staff Ethan Linden had arranged. Seeing that Ethan himself had returned to Veridia, leaving his child behind, he said, ”I’ll give you two hours. Either go apologize to my grandmother, or... take these people and get the hell out of here. Otherwise, I’ll have no choice but to call the police!”

With that, Charles Prescott turned and left.

’Now that Ethan Linden isn’t here to back her up, and since this is my territory, I’m not afraid of anything.’

As he spoke, Charles Prescott returned to the main building in front.

The doctor had already treated Mrs. Prescott’s sprain.

When Mrs. Prescott saw Charles Prescott, she asked, ”How did it go? Is it handled?”

Charles Prescott replied, ”I told her to come and apologize to you. If she doesn’t, she has to move out of the house.”

He sat down, glanced at the time, and called Henry Underwood in.

Mrs. Prescott asked, ”Can we really kick Anne Sutton out?”

Charles Prescott said, ”Since she chose to be with Ethan Linden, I have no choice but to teach her a little lesson.”
