Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Charles Prescott didn’t dare to think any further.

He didn’t want to make an enemy of Ethan Linden right now, either.

The Fawcett Group was powerful, but the Linden Family was no pushover. There was a difference between new money and old money, after all.

He said, ”Since Mr. Linden has already made his decision, please stay here. Henry Underwood, arrange a place for Mr. Linden to stay.”

He put on a magnanimous air.

Nathan Fawcett stood up. ”That won’t be necessary. I’ll stay at my older brother’s place.”

With that, he headed for the door. Ian scrambled off the sofa, and the father and son walked out, with the butler following behind them.

...

Anne Sutton had just stepped out the door, wondering how she was going to get back in and what she would say to Ethan Linden when she saw him.

Just then, she saw Nathan Fawcett and Ian approaching.

Ian’s eyes lit up when he saw her. He ran over on his short little legs. ”Auntie! You really are here! My daddy wasn’t lying.”

He crashed into her arms like a little cannonball.

Anne Sutton hugged him, but when she looked up and saw Nathan Fawcett, she couldn’t manage a smile.

She asked, ”What are you doing here?”

’He didn’t come here for me, did he?’

’No way!’

’I’ve already hidden myself away here, and he still won’t leave me alone?’

Nathan Fawcett walked over, shot her a cold glance, and said in his guise as Ethan Linden, ”I came back to check on the Fawcett family on my older brother’s behalf. Is there a problem?”

”...” His words reminded Anne Sutton that he was Nathan Fawcett’s younger brother.

’But...’

Anne Sutton said, ”Weren’t you uninterested in anything to do with the Fawcett family?”

”Who told you I’m not interested?” Nathan Fawcett gave her an indifferent look. ”From now on, I’ll be taking over the Fawcett family.”

Hearing this, Anne Sutton’s eyes brightened. ”Really?”

’She hadn’t expected to wake up to such happy news.’

When Butler Walters saw Anne Sutton, he said, ”Good day, Madam.”

Seeing Butler Walters made Anne Sutton feel much more at ease. ”Hello.”

Butler Walters said, ”The Master said he will be staying here for a while. He’ll be living here from now on.”

Anne Sutton coughed. ’So, he’s moving in with me?’

’Then again, this was Nathan Fawcett’s place. It was perfectly normal for him to move into his brother’s house.’

...

Nathan Fawcett glanced at Anne Sutton, ignored her, and walked straight through the door.

Anne Sutton looked down at Ian. ”Ian, what are you doing here too?”

She had just parted with him reluctantly yesterday, and seeing him again now gave her the feeling of having recovered something precious she had lost.

Ian said, ”I’m dead tired, but Daddy told me I could see you, so I came.”

”What about your mother?”

”She went off to film again! She doesn’t care about me at all. I’m just an unlucky kid.”

Seeing his crestfallen expression, Anne Sutton comforted him, ”It’s okay. I’ll be here with you from now on!”

Anne Sutton walked inside and saw Ethan Linden sitting in Nathan Fawcett’s favorite spot.

The housekeeper brought over a glass of water, placed it in front of him, and watched him.

Anne Sutton came in and said to the housekeeper, ”This is Mr. Linden, Nathan’s younger brother. He’ll be staying here from now on, so please prepare a room for him.”

The housekeeper nodded. ”Alright.”

Then she went to get things ready.

Butler Walters said, ”Then I’ll go help.”

With that, he went upstairs.

No one was more familiar with this place than he and Nathan Fawcett. For the butler, returning here was like coming home.

Anne Sutton watched... Faw... no, Ethan Linden, drink his water.

She looked at the man and asked, ”I thought you weren’t interested in all of this? What made you suddenly decide to come here?”

Nathan Fawcett glanced at her, noticing she seemed quite pleased.

He said, ”It was my sister-in-law’s reminder that made me realize I can’t let my father’s assets go to waste. However, even if I take everything the Fawcett family owns, it will have nothing to do with you. Don’t get any ideas.”

Anne Sutton wasn’t angry. ”I don’t care about that. As long as it doesn’t all fall into Charles Prescott’s hands, I’m fine. He was the one who took my child from me.”

Nathan Fawcett’s gaze turned cold as he listened to her words.

’It seems Charles Prescott really did hurt her deeply.’

’That’s why she hates him so much.’

’But this woman had always been like this.’

’She was just angry that Charles Prescott was marrying someone else!’

’Perhaps if Charles Prescott turned back and coaxed her a little, she’d just soften up again!’

...

The housekeeper prepared lunch, and Nathan Fawcett and Ian ate with Anne Sutton.

Ever since Nathan Fawcett had passed away, she had always eaten here alone.

Seeing the two of them here now gave Anne Sutton a surreal feeling.

’If Nathan Fawcett and her child were still alive, their family of three would probably look just like this!’

As Anne Sutton ate, she thought of Anna Linden and asked, ”Won’t Dr. Linden be angry that you came here?”

Nathan Fawcett glanced at her. ”Why are you asking that?”

His sharp retort left Anne Sutton speechless. ”Never mind. I won’t ask about your business anymore.”

Nathan Fawcett adopted Ethan Linden’s tone. ”My mistake. It’s only right for my sister-in-law to ask whatever she wants.”

”...” Anne Sutton looked at him, truly unable to understand what this man was trying to do.

’He’s so moody!’

They were in the middle of their meal when, a short while later, Miles Prescott appeared at the door.

Butler Walters stood at the entrance. Miles Prescott looked at him. ”Mr. Walters, long time no see.”

Butler Walters said respectfully, ”Mr. Prescott.”

Miles Prescott said, ”I heard from Charles that Nathan’s younger brother has returned. Is it true?”

Butler Walters nodded. ”Of course, it’s true. After our master passed away, I went to stay by Mr. Linden’s side. They are twin brothers. Do you have any doubts, Mr. Prescott?”

Hearing this, Miles Prescott’s heart leaped into his throat again.

’Mr. Walters wouldn’t lie.’

’But...’

’They had finally managed to outlast Chairman Fawcett and Nathan Fawcett, and had even gotten rid of Anne Sutton’s child. And now...’

’...another brother of Nathan Fawcett pops up out of nowhere? Is this ever going to end?’

’If Chairman Fawcett’s old loyalists found out he had another son, they would definitely switch sides!’

He was instantly filled with a sense of utter frustration.

Though he was displeased, Miles Prescott still walked inside.

Anne Sutton saw him but didn’t greet him.

Ever since she lost her child, Anne Sutton had been cold toward the father and son duo of Miles and Charles Prescott.

After all, in her eyes, this father and son were nothing but thieves who had stolen what belonged to others—they were a plague!

’She could give up everything the Fawcett family owned, but she had only wanted to keep her child, and they hadn’t even given her that chance!’

Ian sat to one side. Miles Prescott’s gaze fell upon him, and he noticed that the child really did look quite a bit like Nathan Fawcett.

Then he looked at Ethan Linden...

’Although he looked much more energetic than Nathan Fawcett, the two brothers really did look alike...’

Miles Prescott smiled. ”I heard from Charles that you’re Nathan’s younger brother. I don’t believe I caught your name.”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Call me Ethan Linden.”

Miles Prescott said, ”Ethan! It’s been so long since Nathan passed, I had no idea... that he had a younger brother! Look at us, we didn’t hear a thing. You didn’t even come back when Dad passed away.”
