High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2044: Chapter 265: Andrew’s Motive

Seeing Andrew, Zheng Qing’s first reaction was a bit dazed—had it already come to this extent?—he thought Andrew was sent by the school to be his security.

But immediately, the boy woke up and denied his speculation.

This is First University, one of the safest places in the wizarding world. Even if there are some fanatical ’witch-hunters’ among the demons, it wouldn’t lead them to make any irrational moves against a newly emerging young hunting team here.

Besides, the members of Absolution are spread across four colleges. There’s no reason to send ’security’ just for him, and it certainly wouldn’t happen without any prior communication with him, the captain of the Atonement Hunting Team.

Even if security were needed, First University wouldn’t hire people from the Trident Sword.

You must know, now the one handling the school’s affairs is Old foolishness, and the director of Trident Sword is Lady Shi Hui’s apprentice. After Lady Shi Hui stepped down from her position as vice principal of First University, rumors have it that much of the collaboration between Trident Sword and the school is facing termination and clearance; there’s no way they would take such unnecessary action.

With this slight, indescribable awkwardness, the young public student quickly ran out of the classroom in small steps.

Andrew was biting a cigarette, holding a magazine with Absolution hunting team’s seven members on the cover—Zheng Qing noticed the magazine was ”Road of the Glorious Hunting Team,” an established hunting competition publication, widely influential throughout the Mage Alliance.

He didn’t even know when Absolution appeared on such a professional magazine.

”Good afternoon, Mr. Commissioner.”

The young public student’s tone was somewhat puzzled; although he knew Andrew, they hadn’t interacted much, and he didn’t know why this Trident Sword commissioner was at the classroom door: ”...Is there anything I can help you with?”

”Good afternoon.” The chubby commissioner wiped the sweat off his forehead: ”What damned weather...The autumn tiger is really ferocious; it’s already October, yet it’s still so hot!”

Zheng Qing glanced at the sunlight outside; it was indeed bright, but after all, it was autumn, not particularly hot.

”It’s certainly not cool enough.”

The boy muttered, his gaze sweeping over the magazine in the commissioner’s hand: ”Sorry, this is a classroom, there’s no coffee or tea to offer...”

Zheng Qing clearly remembered, at the first meeting with Andrew, this Trident Sword commissioner had chatted extensively with his guide about the World Cup bets—back then, they were discussing whether Venus team or Flamingo team had higher odds—every event from that day left a deep impression on the boy.

”I didn’t plan to drink coffee when I came to the teaching building.” The commissioner laughed, stuffed the magazine into the warlock’s arms, and along with it, a green feather pen.

”This is...”

”Remember when we first met?” After Zheng Qing took the feather pen, Andrew’s hand casually wrapped around his shoulder, his tone very warm: ”...I thought you had a unique aura, wanted to take a picture with you...look at this, short as it may seem, your hunting team has already appeared in ’Glorious’! In my memory, you’re the first student hunting team to land on ’Glorious’ so quickly!”

Zheng Qing blinked his eyes.

If he wasn’t mistaken, when Thomas mentioned he was a public student, this chubby commissioner showed similar enthusiasm as today, but back then it seemed more like he was using the opportunity to chat with Thomas, and Zheng Qing was just an add-on.

”Then this...” the young public student raised the feather pen in his hand.

”Oh, help Thomas sign a name.” The short fat wizard wiped his forehead again: ”He’s been busy with business trips recently, heard your hunting team performed well, so asked me to get your signature...Just write something casual...It’s just me, knowing I can find you guys at the classroom door.”

He seemed very proud.

Zheng Qing squinted at Andrew: ”If I’m not mistaken...Assistant Hilda already requested Thomas’s signature, including signatures from all Absolution members.”

The air was quiet for a few seconds.

A few students from Astronomy Class 08-1 left the classroom, greeting the public student at the door friendly, curiously glancing at the short fat wizard standing by the window.

”That guy,” the commissioner showed no sign of embarrassment on his face: ”Hilda likes exaggerating, I suspect he might have eaten Yi Tribe as a child...”

Yi Tribe is a magical creature that looks much like a rabbit, with tasty meat, but whoever eats it will tell lies. Zheng Qing had only seen related introductions in books, but by Andrew’s words, it seemed this creature could still be found.

”So, regarding the signature?” The commissioner looked eagerly at the young public student.

”I’m honored.”

Zheng Qing held the feather pen, opened the front page, chose a blank spot to sign his name, hesitated a few seconds, then added a sentence—’Dedicated to Mr. Andrew, who first introduced me to the World Cup, October 16th, 09, at the teaching building east door 503’.

Then handed the magazine back to the commissioner.

”Thank you very much.” Andrew took the magazine, rolled it up, casually stuffed it into his chest, his gaze lingering on several young wizards passing by, smiled kindly at them and only reopened his mouth when no one was around: ”...It’s too difficult, after watching hunting competitions for so many years, this is the first signature magazine I’ve saved.”

”Thanks.” Zheng Qing’s voice was a bit weak.

He truly didn’t know how to deal with this situation.

Just at this moment, several other hunters from Absolution walked out together, Xiao Xiao in front, Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin squeezing and crowding behind—Jiang Yu was still in the classroom going over post-lesson exercises with Li Meng.

”Anything happening?” The doctor stopped before the two.

”These must be Absolution members, indeed outstanding talents.” Andrew spread his arms, exaggeratingly smiling: ”If not mistaken, you must be the school’s talented recruit, the diviner Xiao Xiao, right? And those two behind are Zhang Ji Xin and Xin Student?”

The doctor noticed the badge on Andrew’s chest, squinted his eyes.

”Trident Sword’s people at the classroom door,” he whispered: ”It’s not a good sign.”

”Deservedly of Absolution’s diviner...but it’s not that bad,” Andrew chuckled twice: ”Honestly, the bureau knew I knew Zheng Qing, that’s why they sent me...if someone else came, inevitable gossip would arise...you must know, during the school hunting party, Beta Town Post never lacks for Jiuyou’s bad topics.”

”He just wanted a signature.” Zheng Qing was still somewhat bewildered.

Xiao Xiao ignored his slow-witted captain and looked directly: ”What do you want to know?”

”Just want to know your understanding of the Second Rank battle formation.”

”Such as?”

”Such as how long you’ve mastered this formation? Besides the Bo Fu Clan formation, have you mastered any other Second Rank formations?” The Trident Sword commissioner lowered his eyelids, voice quieter: ”And...before Tuesday night’s competition, did Absolution have any hunting team training sessions?”

Zheng Qing finally sensed something seemed off.
