High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2034: Chapter 255: Selection Tournament Ends (Part 2)

Unable to refuse such hospitality.

Su Shijun removed her glasses and walked leisurely down the stands, standing gracefully atop the Hunting Ground’s air, waving to her supporters from all directions with charming smiles and enchanting eyes. Her captivating presence instantly stole the radiance of the entire World.

This small gesture immediately ignited the crowd’s atmosphere; almost all the wizards and witches shouted Su Shijun’s name in unison, forgetting that this was not a fan meeting but a hunting competition.

Zheng Qing wiped his sweat and sighed heavily.

”Clearly, we’re the ones competing.”

The young cost student muttered, feeling both fortunate and a tad disappointed: ”Why does it feel like everyone’s focus is slightly off...”

Despite that, he was very thankful to the witch for distracting everyone’s attention.

Even if it was only for a short while.

In mid-air, after greeting everyone, that charming figure turned into a streak of seven-colored radiance, disappearing like a dream under the public’s gaze - of course, this was just what the audience on the stands saw.

In fact, that streak of seven-colored radiance did not immediately leave the Hunting Ground, but silently fell on its edge, appearing in front of Zheng Qing.

”Well played.”

The owner of Qingqiu Mansion casually praised, and with a flick, cast a beam of white light over the young wizard’s body. Zheng Qing felt a warm sensation all over, like a refreshing breeze after dust has been swept away.

But this freshness lasted only for a brief moment.

The witch’s following words instantly frightened the young cost student into a pallor: ”...If the school finds out someone is faking matches in the school hunting party, they’d likely issue a severe warning or record it as a demerit... I remember you already had a school probation previously? Hmm, personally, I think you might want to consider what job to pursue after being expelled... If you really can’t find work, you could come to Qingqiu Mansion to take care of Poseidon full-time.”

Zheng Qing instinctively retorted: ”It’s not me...”

”Of course it’s not you,” the witch crossed her arms, scrutinizing the young wizard before her, her gaze thoughtful: ”Mordicana is a fair and merciful presence. They wouldn’t hold back in a match like this just because you have ties with certain bigshots...”

”How can ordinary people understand the thoughts of Divine Spirits?” The wizard mumbled, exerting great effort to shift his gaze from the witch’s arms, trying hard to act as if nothing were amiss.

Only then did he notice that the witch’s feet never touched the ground, her skirt floating a foot above.

No wonder she seemed taller than usual, the young cost student thought to himself.

”This understanding isn’t bad.”

Su Shijun ignored his murmuring, nodding approvingly. Her tone shifted: ”I came to inform you that I won’t have time to attend every match of Absolution later... I might send Su Man or others to represent me... better prepare ahead.”

Prepare for what?

Naturally, for the audience coming to the Absolution Hunting Ground to see Su Shijun, only to miss her. Right now, the Hunting Ground still echoed with chants of Su Shijun’s name and certain passionate slogans. Imagining the disappointed voices from the stands in future matches, he seemed to see eggs raining down on him.

”Could you use a projection or a Righteous Body?” Zheng Qing racked his brain for some simple concepts, regretting that Doctor Xiao wasn’t by his side.

If only the doctor’s insights could suggest better ideas.

”Lab work demands undivided attention.”

Su Shijun cornered her lips into a smile: ”You can also visit the mansion more often, maybe catch me slacking off away from the lab... ah, your substitutes are coming over, so we’ll stop here today.”

Before finishing her sentence, the seven-colored radiance blossomed again and vanished in a flash.

Zheng Qing fixed his gaze, finding only empty space before him, Su Shijun’s silhouette nowhere to be seen.

Turning around, the remaining two hunters of the Atonement Hunting Team were rushing towards him, Jiang Yu in front, Xin Fat Man behind, and further away, Lin Guo carrying a platter of fruits.

”Are you injured?”

Jiang Yu’s face was full of urgency, speaking quickly: ”Mordicana is ancient and upright, but after staying in the Starry Sky for long, they’re bound to pick up some concepts from there... Luckily, I prepared ahead.”

Saying so, she took a small ampoule bottle from her handbag, handed it to the wizard resolutely: ”Lu Er De Holy Water... drink it quickly!”

Zheng Qing wanted to tell her he felt fine, yet seeing her concerned eyes, he couldn’t voice a denial, obediently uncapped the ampoule bottle, and tilted it back to pour the Holy Water down his throat.

Contrary to his impressions, tonight’s Holy Water tasted bland, like a bottle of plain water. Zheng Qing couldn’t believe the witch would bring out a substandard product; the only explanation was that there weren’t many Starry Sky ’impurities’ in him now.

While he drank the Holy Water, the Fat Wizard grabbed his other arm, full of excitement and astonishment, exclaiming at the top of his lungs: ”Merlin Above! How did you do it! ...when Blue Bird died, I thought the night was over! No one expected you to hold on for three minutes!”

”Less than three minutes... and Blue Bird didn’t die.”

Zheng Qing put away the bottle, immediately changing the topic, seriously correcting: ”This is Dreamland; we’re competing in a dream. Nothing you see is real...”

He was genuine in the last statement.

But clearly, the Fat Wizard’s understanding of the remark was a bit off.

”Yes, yes, I know it’s not real.” He patted their captain’s shoulder vigorously, blew his nose loudly, feeling moved: ”You know what? I wasn’t idling on the substitute bench... From what I know, most of the other forty-six arenas finished half an hour ago... Do you know what that means?”

”What?”

The young cost student asked absentmindedly, his mind racing for a plausible reason to explain to everyone how he managed the last three minutes.

”It means our Absolution is already in the school’s top tier.” The Fat Wizard seriously replied, using a straightforward analogy: ”It also means if we are willing to print Fitzgerald Magic Potion or Hooke Brothers’ ads on our team’s uniforms, Absolution’s training fees for the year will be covered.”

Zheng Qing sighed with a bitter face.

He was well aware - Absolution isn’t worth that much - rather than being sued by advertisers to Danghag and embarrassingly losing face, it’s better to make wiser choices early on.

”Don’t let those trifling gains tie you down; currently, D&K still can afford the hunting team manager’s salary.” As he spoke, the young cost student felt a heartache, like a cat watching its fish snacks being stolen.

From afar, the stands echoed with a puppet’s lazy voice: ”...Tonight’s selection competition ends here; students, please exit orderly... Wish everyone has a good dream!”
