High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2043: Chapter 264: Benefits of a Star Hunting Team

After listening to the ’professional’s’ interpretation, the young government-funded student felt slightly reassured.

But he was still bothered by the article.

”It’s really surprising that the Post could write such an article.” Zheng Qing flipped through the newspaper in his hand, relishing its odd flavor, and irresponsibly speculated, ”...Is it possible that the editor-in-chief of the Post has changed? To a Jiuyou Academy graduate?”

”No change... Ms. Pulitzer is still in position.”

Xin Fat Man was the first to dismiss his captain’s wishful thinking, then waved his thick, short fingers, analyzing: ”You feel this article is ’objective’ because Atonement is no longer an unknown little hunting team, but a team that has gained some fame in First University and even the entire wizard world. For such parties, the Post, in order to maintain its reputation among clients, must make sure the content it reports is flawless...”

”You can understand this as the treatment of a star hunting team,” Zhang Ji Xin suddenly interjected, adding: ”My brother said that hunting teams that perform excellently in the traditional ’Three Great Cups’ hunting competitions often have good prospects. To avoid offending these teams, the Beta Town Post would not deliberately make things difficult for them...”

The Three Great Cups refer to the ’Academy Cup,’ ’Zeus Cup,’ and ’World Cup,’ the three most influential hunting competitions, among which the ’Academy Cup’ is the annual school hunting competition held every October by First University.

”Of course, we can’t rule out the possibility that the negative impact of the incident with Professor Yao a while ago between the two academies is a factor,” Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses and also gave his opinion: ”...Now that Professor Emma has become the new vice-principal, to mitigate the rift caused by that uproar between the two academies, our new vice-principal might make some conciliatory gestures toward Jiuyou Academy... After all, Professor Emma is now the vice-principal of First University, not just the head of Alpha.”

”Are you suggesting our hunting team became a ’conciliatory’ target?”

Listening to these three differing opinions, Zheng Qing felt dizzy: ”...Why do I feel like you are overestimating our position a bit?”

”No,” Xiao Xiao carefully spread the bamboo slip law book before him and replied without lifting his head: ”You are merely underestimating the real influence of the Campus Cup and an outstanding hunting team in the entire wizard world.”

”An outstanding hunting team.”

Zheng Qing repeated the term used by the doctor, but his gaze involuntarily fell on a particular line on the newspaper, mumbling: ”And ’Super Student Hunting Team’... this is really... really... tsk tsk.”

He ultimately didn’t think of a suitable comment, just shook his head repeatedly.

”If ’Xianqin’ or ’Avengers’ really sent us an invitation letter, would you let Atonement join their hunting group?” Xiao Xiao suddenly looked up, gazing seriously at the young government-funded student.

Zheng Qing hesitated for a few seconds.

”I don’t know.” The captain of the Atonement hunting team finally chose the safest answer and replied honestly: ”I’d probably hold a full meeting to hear everyone’s opinions...”

”But you’re the captain, what do you think?” The Fat Wizard also grew interested.

Zheng Qing showed some difficulty on his face: ”I heard that the personnel relations in big hunting groups are very complicated... I actually quite dislike trouble... I prefer smaller, more elite hunting teams like the ’Middle Continent Team’... it feels like the organizational structure is more flexible.”

The Middle Continent Team is also a pioneering hunting team active in the New World, led by veteran Legendary Wizard Zheng Zha.

However, compared to massive hunting groups like ’Xianqin’ or ’Holy Tang’ with many members, the Middle Continent Team has always maintained an ultra-small scale of less than ten people—this hasn’t affected its combat power at all. On the contrary, this ultra-small hunting team’s fame in the wizard world is in no way inferior to those large hunting groups.

”When your own power reaches a certain level, concepts like ’ultra-small’ or ’detached from worldly concerns’ cease to exist.” Xiao Xiao shook his head, denying his captain’s evasive mentality: ”Just like a Big Wizard, once He reveals His true form, even if He just sits quietly doing nothing, He will have a great impact on the surrounding environment, and the mystical energy effusing from Him can sustain dozens or even hundreds of registered wizards for practice.”

”And the Middle Continent Team isn’t really an ’ultra-small’ hunting team either,” Zhang Ji Xin added: ”According to my brother, although the Middle Continent Team has officially fewer than ten members, there are quite a few subsidiary hunting groups affiliated with it... and the scale of those hunting groups in no way loses to those under Xianqin or Xiling...”

As they chatted.

The stick figure behind the door finally shook off the dust on its body, shrieking and cutting off the little seminar in the corner, breaking the sleepy atmosphere in the classroom.

”Who did this?!”

”Who on earth is so lacking in civic virtue? Bullying a poor child stuck on paper!” it yelled angrily with its matchstick-like limbs, pacing on the small drawing paper: ”It’s totally insane! Utterly shameless! Don’t you want to hear my reports anymore?!”

The class erupted in scattered laughter, and the drowsy atmosphere relaxed a lot.

”Oh, right.”

The Fat Wizard was laughing along with everyone else when he suddenly remembered something, turned around, and poked Zheng Qing’s arm: ”Do you have any Invisibility Talismans left? Give me a few more.”

”Didn’t I just give you three yesterday?”

”I’m larger, my consumption is naturally faster than yours.” The Fat Wizard’s explanation was reasonable.

Zheng Qing eyed him skeptically, pulled a stack of talisman paper from the grey cloth bag, and casually handed a few to the other two while warning Xin Fat Man: ”It’s fine if you use them up quickly... But don’t let me catch you reselling the Invisibility Talismans.”

Perhaps feeling his tone was too harsh, the young government-funded student immediately added: ”...This is a benefit exclusive to the Atonement internal hunting team!”

”Assurance, assurance!”

The Fat Wizard said cheerfully, shoving a booklet under Zheng Qing’s nose: ”And this... write a few words, and sign it.”

”What is this?”

”A few young newcomers in the editorial department, Senior Linda asked me to guide them.” The fat man sounded very natural: ”You know, freshmen, right? They’re very interested in the Campus Cup... and I heard I’m in Atonement, so they asked me to help with a signature book... everyone else has done it, and it’s just you left.”

Zheng Qing had reason to suspect this guy harbored questionable intentions toward those freshmen.

”Don’t bring shame to the hunting team!” he warned.

”Assurance, assurance!” the fat man chanted like a parrot, his face creasing into bun-like folds as he laughed: ”After all, we are already the ’Super Student Hunting Team’... I understand, I understand!”

What exactly he understood, Zheng Qing wasn’t too clear.

But the impact of the ’Super Student Hunting Team’ was visibly clear.

When the class bell rang, Zheng Qing noticed a familiar figure appear at the classroom door, it was the chubby Commissioner Andrew from the Trident Sword.

He was smiling brightly, waving at the young government-funded student.
