High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2011: Chapter 232: The Riven Field

Jiang Yu took credit for the achievement, initially to help Zheng Qing out of a tight spot.

Compared to a certain scholarship student raising a little fox, the name of the Zhongshan Jiang Family clearly had more prestige, making the invitation to Su Shijun more reasonable.

However, if this lie got exposed, Jiang Yu might only face a bit of embarrassment, while Zheng Qing would have to endure more scrutinizing looks from his peers—if it wasn’t Jiang Yu’s achievement, then how did you manage to invite Su Shijun?

Was it because of that little fox who got along well with Su Ya?

Or did you hire an accountant dispatched by the Qingqiu Su Family in your shop?

Or was there another secret involved?

Zhang Ji Xin, who is usually oblivious, might laugh off this confusion, but Zheng Qing had no doubt that the sharp-eyed Xin Fat Man and the thoughtful Xiao Xiao would certainly dig into the matter relentlessly.

Considering the consequences of the truth coming out, the young scholarship student couldn’t stand it anymore and interrupted Student Li Meng’s pleasant time, grabbing Jiang Yu by the wrist and dragging her in front of Su Shijun, his face full of eagerness as he began a rapid-fire introduction:

”This is Jiang Yu, Li Meng’s cousin!”

”You know Jiang Yu, she’s fought right alongside you on the Black Prison Battlefield... The letter I sent to the Greenhill Mansion, the invitation for you to become the guidance mentor for the Absolution Hunting Team, was written with the help of Jiang Yu’s family elders!”

As he spoke, he desperately signaled to the owner of the Greenhill Mansion, emphasizing the words ’that letter’ in his tone, finishing with, ”...If it weren’t for her helping to make the connection, the Absolution Hunting Team wouldn’t be able to invite such an excellent mentor like you to be the hunting team guide!”

Compared to the endlessly chatty warlock, Jiang Yu’s expression was slightly awkward, perhaps because she was grabbed by the wrist; she turned her face away slightly, a hint of pink appearing on her neck.

Su Shijun glanced at the hand Zheng Qing was holding, her gaze somewhat subtle.

”Mentor?”

Compared to the warlock’s focus on his point, she seemed more concerned about the word he had just used, showing a slight displeasure on her face: ”Do I look that old?”

Zheng Qing paused for a second, promptly correcting himself with a flattering smile: ”It’s ’senior’, an outstanding senior!”

”Mentor doesn’t necessarily mean older.”

Jiang Yu suddenly raised her head, looking directly at the big wizard in front of her, adding softly, ”Born before me, knowing the Dao did indeed precede me, and thus I learned from them; born after me, knowing the Dao also preceded me, and thus I learned from them... There’s an order in acquiring knowledge, but one should choose the good and follow it.”

Zheng Qing tilted his head, always feeling that the witch’s last words were a little odd, not sounding like the original text.

”A good one, regardless of precedence, choose the good and follow.”

Su Shijun raised her eyebrows, her gaze lingered on the warlock and the witch in front of her for a moment, a playful smile on her face, and then quickly turned the topic as she calculated with her fingers: ”That letter... you’re talking about that letter... I do know Jiang Yu. Before the Black Prison Battlefield, we had met in Old Yao’s office... Her courage left a very deep impression on me at the time. Seeing her again today, she seems even braver than before.”

Hearing this evaluation, Jiang Yu didn’t flinch at all.

”It’s my honor.” She pulled her wrist out of Zheng Qing’s hand and courteously bowed a bit: ”...It’s been a long time, and I’m very pleased to see you again.”

Zheng Qing didn’t know what kind of charades they were playing, but clearly, Su Shijun had also just helped him out of a tough situation, allowing his tensed-up heart to quietly settle back down.

”Since we’ve done the introductions, we should now show off the strength of the Absolution to our senior!” The young scholarship student bolstered his spirit, his gaze sweeping over the warlocks before finally landing on Zhang Ji Xin: ”...Show them the battle formations, tactics, and magic we have mastered. Any problems?”

”Guaranteed to complete the task!” The red-faced warlock shook his wrist, his joints popping like firecrackers, a determined look in his eyes.

Zheng Qing felt slightly uneasy and quickly added: ”Just do your best... Don’t attempt ’Multi-Wind Fire Spell’, don’t get everyone into the campus hospital before the official start of the competition... Doctor, you’re an auxiliary hunter, be cautious!”

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses and nodded reservedly.

The spell Zheng Qing mentioned was a group magic the Absolution Hunting Team had recently been practicing. Because it involved a complex spell formula, there had been several instances of magic power backlash during practice, and he was worried that the boys might risk their health for the sake of appearances.

”Who’s going for the demonstration?” Jiang Yu whispered softly in the boy’s ear.

Although her voice was very low, in the quiet of the night, it was still clearly heard by those around. Before Zheng Qing could respond, Xin Fat Man clapped his chest and laughed boisterously.

”I’m the core, definitely have to include me.” He winked at his companions, swaggering toward the hunting ground.

”I’m the auxiliary hunter, you just said so.” The doctor carrying the crystal ball gave a slight nod to Su Shijun before following alongside unhurriedly.

”Me, the main hunter, no one knows more about tactics and formations than I do.” As he spoke, Zhang Ji Xin’s nostrils were nearly pointed skyward.

Only two positions left, the wandering hunter and the hunter.

”Better to be the swordsman and gentleman,” Zheng Qing looked at Jiang Yu for approval: ”They’ve just warmed up and should be able to get into the state easier...”

Jiang Yu nodded in agreement.

Dylan happily patted Zheng Qing on the shoulder, quietly gesturing his gratitude; Blue Bird maintained his usual calm demeanor, handing the marten around his neck to Lin Guo before silently following the hunting team’s footsteps.

Li Meng was loudly directing, pretending to be very busy, as she instructed the bewildered Lin Guo to organize the piled magic materials and herbs nearby.

Zheng Qing stood at the edge of the hunting ground, gazing at the pale blue haze gradually rising around the Absolution formation in the distance, with Jiang Yu to his left and Su Shijun to his right.

Very soon, he realized that his position was a bit inappropriate, and just as he was about to move aside, Su Shijun shot him a glance.

”I thought you were the leader of the Absolution.”

She crossed her arms, lazily observing the bustling hunters on the field with little interest: ”...Since you’re the leader, you should have your own opinion, instead of constantly seeking your team members’ advice... On the hunting field, you don’t always have time to gather everyone’s opinions.”

Before Zheng Qing could respond, Jiang Yu chuckled softly beside him.

”It’s fortunate that he still listens to others,” the witch said earnestly without a hint of ridicule: ”He hasn’t been in the wizarding world for long, and his experience with the hunting team is still limited. Only by listening to others more can he seem both prudent and courteous... Wouldn’t you agree?”

Both witches looked at the warlock.

Zheng Qing pinched his nose internally, pretending not to hear their discussion, and charged angrily toward the hunting ground: ”You guys are all in the wrong positions! Are you all blind? The haze outside the formation is quivering! Fat Man! Xin Fat Man! Don’t transform just for the sake of it... Keep in sync with the others!”
