High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2026: Chapter 247: Inside and Outside the Hunting Ground

The spell ’Emperor Body Rises’ is known to Zheng Qing.

It’s often used together with another short spell, ’Eight Phoenix Clanging,’ forming a ’Wake-up Spell,’ frequently utilized by students to forcibly rise from bed in the morning.

Although Zheng Qing hasn’t experienced it personally, he has seen Xin Fat Man use this spell more than once, with outstanding effects. Even if someone is sleeping like a dead pig one second, under the spell’s influence the next second they’ll rise from bed as if possessed by a ghost.

But now, Dylan has cast this short spell onto the corpse of a dead Ghoul and made it ’wake up,’ which is quite horrifying.

In any normal society, desecrating a corpse is a very serious mistake.

Even if it’s just the corpse of a Ghoul.

In the wizard world, there is a specific term for these kinds of desecrating magic – Necromancy. And to most wizards, necromancy undoubtedly falls under the category of Black Magic.

This is a stubborn impression rooted in the minds of most wizards, as stubborn as cockroaches in sewers and moss in damp corners.

The First University is a very orthodox school.

This is beyond doubt, and well-known.

A second-year student at The First University, casting necromancy on a dead Ghoul in broad daylight, under the watchful eyes of many, is as shocking to Zheng Qing as Poseidon’s identity being fully exposed.

”Are you crazy?”

The young cost student jumped up, waving his Law book, attempting to interrupt Mister Blood Werewolf’s magic, but upon opening the book, he realized he didn’t understand necromancy.

Xiao Xiao tugged at his sleeve, shaking his head slightly.

”This is not corpse desecration necromancy.”

The diviner of the Absolution first calmed the panicked captain, then explained briefly: ”...This is high-tier undead’s talent domination magic over low-tier undead... We were lucky to have chosen Dylan for the competition against the Ghoul.”

Mister Blood Werewolf gave Zheng Qing an OK gesture, with a slightly curved mouth revealing a pair of pretty but pale fangs.

Pure Blooded Vampires are considered high-tier undead, while scavenging Ghouls are low-tier undead, this is common knowledge. Although Dylan’s bloodline is half Werewolf, the other half belonging to vampires is exceedingly noble, so he also masters some talent magic of the Blood Race.

After hearing the Doctor’s explanation, the Absolution’s captain heaved a sigh of relief, feeling his back a bit moist, only then realizing he had just broken out in cold sweat.

”Were you trembling just now?” Dylan sniffed skeptically.

He was waving his fingers, like a conductor before an orchestra, with small arm and finger movements, directing that vampire in circles.

”No, it’s adrenaline.”

The young cost student immediately denied Mister Blood Werewolf’s guess, rapidly explaining: ”An increase in adrenaline secretion leads to metabolic heat rise, a decrease in secretion results in lowered heart rate, hence body temperature drops... This is scientific explanation, unrelated to magic.”

”Is that so?”

Dylan appeared bewildered, withdrawing his gaze, refocusing on the vampire corpse before him. As time progressed, his conducting rhythm became lighter, and the Ghoul’s movements gradually grew nimbler, even more agile than its actions when alive.

”Looks like a good idea, but isn’t one a bit too few?” The red-faced male wizard evaluated the Ghoul’s corpse, pondering.

”Don’t worry!”

Mister Blood Werewolf winked at his companions, hinting, ”So much material... There’s no problem tangling with hundreds of Ghouls... Even if they’re stronger than before.”

”With only the one you’re directing?” Zheng Qing snorted.

Dylan chuckled, as the Law book at his waist automatically floated before him, pages flipping without wind, then he placed his hand on the book, reining in his smile, donning a solemn expression:

”God tools halt wine, Emperor Body Rises!”

”Artisan blessing announced, drums send off corpse!”

A muffled bell and drum sound vaguely resonated from the void, mixed with unintelligible obscure prayers, making Zheng Qing feel as if he had suddenly arrived at some temple or worship site.

Gray-white spell light flowed out from the Law book like water, washing and tumbling, swiftly engulfing the Ghoul corpse pile like a small mountain, with continuous magic power seeping into the corpse mountain amid blessings and drum beats, pair after pair of gray-white eyes opened, arms twisted and reached out, the entire corpse pile resembling a blooming rotten lotus, exuding an eerie aura.

...

...

”Black Magic!”

”Necromancy Black Magic!”

”The Absolution Hunting Team used forbidden arts right under everyone’s eyes!”

When Dylan summoned the first Ghoul corpse, the puppet on the stands jubilantly shouted, fearing the audience couldn’t hear, almost stuffing its nose into the Speaker Flowers’ stamen: ”Did everyone see it? They summoned the dead Ghoul... Oh? Oh...”

A black-robed wizard hurriedly pushed through the crowd, squeezing beside the puppet, handing over a slender parchment slip, causing the puppet to reluctantly pull its nose out from the Speaker Flowers, glancing at the slip’s content.

Then it became dispirited immediately.

”Oh, so that’s it.”

The puppet cleared its throat, using a voice seven or eight degrees lower than before and speaking rapidly to simply explain: ”According to relevant policies, high-tier undead’s domination of low-tier undead is protected within the Wizard’s Code as safe magic... Therefore, this scene before us is legal.”

Saying so, it angrily stuffed the slip of parchment into its mouth, viciously chewing a few times.

”Legal, but not reasonable!” The puppet vehemently gestured a middle finger at the sky with a muffled tone: ”In this lousy world, even in dreams, we cannot obtain the justice and equality we deserve!”

Its response was the chaotic noise from the stands.

Almost no one was seriously listening to the puppet’s fragmentary and subjective narrative, as young wizards gathered in small groups, holding their brass telescopes, listening to ’experts’ in their circles explaining the competition.

Of course, not everyone focused on the Hunting Ground.

From the start of the competition to now, there had always been a strong, enthusiastic, and steadfast voice on the stands, waving banners painted with Qingqiu’s crest Nine-Tail Flower, uniformly chanting ’Su Shijun’s’ name.

”The tenth batch of prey has been released!”

The puppet reinvigorated itself, thrusting its nose back into the Speaker Flowers, shouting hoarsely: ”...We can see that the Absolution Hunting Team’s Ghoul corpse group has already charged forward under the command of Hunter ’Gentleman’... Must admit, even if it’s in a dream, it’s an extremely cruel scene...”
