High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2021: Chapter 242: Absolution Has Changed Its Name

”RULE, NO.3, only the team that persists to the end can embrace the dawn of victory!”

”Now!”

”Cheer! Rejoice! Go to your death!”

”Unleash your shallow yet vibrant desires recklessly in this world where illusion and reality overlap!”

”Every aura shattered in your dreamland will become the nourishment for the growth of ignorant life!”

”Every drop of blood you shed on the arena will turn into the saliva of cheers from the audience!”

”If someone asks what positive significance this holds?”

”None!”

”Death is the greatest significance of the hunt! Battle is the only true essence of the hunt!”

”The last sound on the hunting ground is only eight words—”

”Broken Bamboo, Continuation Bamboo, Flying Soil, Zhu Rou!”

Accompanied by the hoarse shout of the puppet, the drumming responded like a storm; it extended its slender cane towards the stage, its gaze filled with encouragement: ”Let us all shout together—”

The hunters in the hall looked at each other, and after a moment, some hesitantly shouted, ”Broken Bamboo, Continuation Bamboo, Flying Soil, Zhu Rou!”

”Not loud enough!”

The puppet was very angry, seemingly annoyed at the young wizards for wasting the atmosphere it created, snapped its fingers, and the urgent drumbeat sounded again, and then it repeated the previous motion: ”Let us all shout together—”

”Broken Bamboo, Continuation Bamboo, Flying Soil, Zhu Rou!”

This time, the hunters below the stage shouted it together very cooperatively.

The puppet nodded in satisfaction, pressed its hand down, and the background noise disappeared altogether; the whole hall was suddenly plunged into silence. It gave a slight bow in thanks, and Zheng Qing vaguely heard it murmuring as if whispering:

”Although I am just a puppet, I occasionally dream...”

White mist swept in from all directions, and in an instant, it engulfed the puppet bowing to exit, engulfed the podium beneath its feet, and the figures of the forty-seven hunting teams around it.

Except for the seven hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team, Zheng Qing could no longer see any other figures.

”Alert!”

The captain of the Absolution Hunting Team shouted, drawing the charm gun hanging at his waist in reverse grip, and looked around vigilantly; almost simultaneously, the seven hunters of the Absolution team took their respective positions, unfolding a Septagram battle formation.

In the next second, the mist trembled, and a narrow passage was cleaved open amidst the fog.

At the end of the passage, there was an outlet like a tiny point of light.

Zheng Qing took a deep breath, holding the law book, gripping the charm gun, and took the lead into the passage. Jiang Yu followed closely behind, then Xiao Xiao, the fat man, Blue Bird, and Dylan.

Zhang Ji Xin, as another main hunter of the team, volunteered to stay at the end for backup.

At the end of the misty passage was a small door.

Behind the door was a world of cheers.

Zheng Qing looked up, the high stands around were filled with hazy figures and vibrant flags. The sky was piled up with thick clouds, with no sunlight visible, the ground was dry yellow earth, and stepping down left a deep footprint.

”This should be our hunting ground today.”

Zheng Qing judged, inexplicably relieved in his heart. Compared to all difficulties, the unknown was the most terrifying. Now standing in the hunting ground, the young cost student was slightly looking forward to today’s opponents: ”Forty-seven hunting teams, forty-seven hunting grounds... does it mean the audience on the stands is all here to watch our Absolution?”

Looking at those dense figures, the warlock suddenly felt quite energized.

”Why can’t we see the faces of the audience on the stage?” Xin Fat Man shaded his eyes, squinting around and complaining: ”There won’t be dummies inside... I didn’t see clearly when that puppet demonstrated before.”

”Not dummies.” Suddenly, the cool voice of Jiang Yu came from the side: ”If you listen carefully, you can tell.”

Zheng Qing squinted his eyes, discerning carefully for a moment.

Gradually, the smile on his face became stiff. Because on the stands, those fragmented voices slowly reorganized in his ears, gradually converging into a single word—

Su Shijun.

Turns out most people came to see Su Shijun?

The captain of the Absolution Hunting Team thought indignantly, but had to admit, compared to the relatively unknown Absolution, Su Daxu’s ’box office’ appeal was evidently much stronger.

”It might also be because of the positioning.” The warlock grinned, finding an excuse: ”Like how last year on the stands watching the hunting competition, we used binoculars, now if we want to see the stands, we should also use binoculars... Doctor, what do you think?”

”Me? I have no opinion,” Xiao Xiao absently observed, seemingly thoughtful: ”...I just suddenly think the student council’s arrangement this time is very smart.”

”How so?” Mister Blood Werewolf asked with interest.

”Arranging the competition in a dreamland not only saves a lot of resources but also prevents any chaos from occurring on the stands,” Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, reminding: ”You wouldn’t have forgotten the incident during last year’s school hunting competition, would you?”

With that, Zheng Qing suddenly remembered the brief conflict between Alpha and Jiuyou Academy that broke out during last year’s school hunting competition—the previous Lei Zhe and Augustus were said to have stepped down because of the aftermath of that conflict.

By arranging the hunting competition in a dreamland, even if the extremists of Jiuyou and Alpha cause trouble again, at most it’s just a fight in a dream, the energy wasted is not even as much as a higher-level magic spell.

”Indeed smart.”

Zheng Qing nodded in agreement: ”For the sake of overall safety, the student council is really painstaking... I wonder if the finals will also be arranged in a dreamland.”

”Definitely not.”

This time, Zhang Ji Xin joined the chat, the red-faced warlock firmly denied their captain’s guess: ”Besides ordinary spectators, the school hunting competition finals also have high-ranking Alliance officials, alien envoys, and many wizard organizations’ representatives... And real hunting and what’s in the dreamland still have subtle differences, even for the reputation of the First University, the student council won’t do it like that.”

”Duang!”

A deafening gong suddenly sounded in the sky above the hunting ground, interrupting the hunters’ chat, and suppressing the chaotic noise on the stands.

”Ladies! Gentlemen!”

”And the sneaky guests on the stands!”

The familiar voice of the puppet resounded in Zheng Qing’s ears, shouting with its exaggerated tone: ”The first selection match of the 35th hunting ground of the school hunting competition is about to begin! The owner of this hunting ground is already in front of you! Let’s all shout out their name—”

”Su Shijun!”

”Su Shijun!”

”Su Shijun!”

Suddenly, a thunderous cheer erupted from the stands, so loud that Zheng Qing rolled his eyes repeatedly, even the puppet hosting the hunting competition was momentarily stunned, having not quite kept up with the public’s rhythm.
